Chapter 44 - Thalia
Petra’s P.O.V.
The witch smirks at my sister and me. She doesn’t seem like she’s scared of us and our magic at all.
“You need to leave. Chris will not be king, and you’re not welcome here.” I tell her. She looks at Chris and shakes her head.
“Do you think I really care about this fool? He was a pawn to get to my real prize. Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Thalia, one of the witches from the Mystic Flame Coven. I’m over three hundred years old. I’ve waited a long time for you, sisters of the Mystic Moonlighters. When I discovered Docia was for sale, I had Chris buy her. I didn’t know where Petra was hiding, but I knew you would eventually find each other. I heard you were hanging out with the royals, so I convinced Chris it was time for him to take his rightful place on the throne.” Thalia stands up and walks over to where Chris is sitting. He turns to us and grins evilly.
“Get these chains off me so I can take my place as king.” Thalia sits on his lap and kisses him. While they kiss, a silver dagger appears in her hand. When she stands up, she shows the dagger to Chris.
“I have no further need for you.” We gasp as she sticks the dagger in his heart, leaving it there as he convulses and dies
“What do you want?” Docia asks, taking my hand.
“I want the two of you. You’re the only wolves left from the Mystic Moonlighters pack, and I’m the last remaining witch of the Mystic Flame coven. Our magic together would be unstoppable. Let me tell you a little story.” Thalia walks over to where we’re standing and looks us over with a smirk.
“Once upon a time, several centuries ago, the Mystic Moonlighters and the Mystic Flame lived together. Wolves, witches, and others from all over came to ask for favors that only we could provide with our magic. They lived together happily for a long time. However, that all changed when one of the witches took a liking to the alpha of the Mystic Moonlighters. He was already mated to his fated mate, but that didn’t stop the witch from using magic to try and come between them. When nothing worked, the witch killed the luna, not realizing it would also kill the alpha. After they died, the coven and the pack separated, and the coven banned the witch from being part of them. The witch became angry and killed all of the witches in Mystic Flame. She also planned to get revenge on the Mystic Moonlighters. It took years, but she was finally able to do it by making other packs do her dirty work for her. She set up packs everywhere to kidnap pups and sell them. Her intention was to stop mates from finding each other. She had an affair with an alpha and talked him into killing other packs who were more powerful than his. He was successful and took care of the witch’s main target, the Mystic Moonlighters, but not before the two most powerful daughters were kidnapped. If you haven’t figured it out yet, I was that witch, and the alpha and luna were your great-grandparents. Ryker, it’s good to see you again. You probably don’t remember me because I have a way of hiding in plain sight. I was the one telling your dad what to do until you killed him.”
I can’t believe it. She’s the one responsible for almost all of our traumas. They took those of us who were kidnapped from our packs because of her. My family and the entire pack were slaughtered because of her. So many deaths all because of one vengeful witch.
“What do you want from us?” I ask Thalia while also placing a shield around everyone there. I don’t want her to kill any innocents trying to get to us.
“I want you both to come with me. We’ll be so powerful that no one will be able to stop us.” I can’t believe after everything she just said, she thinks we’ll actually go with her and do whatever evil she has planned. It also tells me something else. She must not be able to kill us because she would have done that already. I don’t believe for a second that she wants to share anything, least of all power.
“When you were with Chris, was any of this witch’s magic able to touch you?” I mindlink Docia.
“No. I could feel it sometimes, but it didn’t do anything to me. What are you thinking?” She mindlinks back. I think we found her weakness. Thalia is trying to get us to join her because she knows she can’t beat us.
“Do you think she’s doing all this because she’s not strong enough to go against us?” I mindlink Docia.
“Possibly, but she doesn’t act scared of us either.” She mindlinks.
“I don’t want to show our hand until we’re sure. Let’s play along for now. I’m going to let the others know we have a plan, so they don’t think we’re actually taking her side.” I mindlink back.
“Docia and I are going to pretend to go along with her, but we’re not. I think she’s only doing this because she can’t beat us.” I mindlink everyone else.
“Okay, but be careful. I don’t trust witches.” Anton replies while squeezing my hand.
“What exactly do you think we’ll be able to do together?” I ask her. Thalia’s eyes light up.
“We can take over the world. Think of all the trauma the two of you have been through. None of us will ever be hurt again because we’ll be the ones causing the pain. No one will be able to dictate what we do with all of our power.” The way her eyes shine with excitement at the thought of hurting others makes me shudder.
“Who do you plan on hurting? Haven’t you already gotten your revenge?” Docia asks her. Thalia glares at her and then smiles.
“Revenge? No, I haven’t gotten all my revenge. I won’t be happy until the entire world burns and everyone calls my name as their ruler. Power is a mighty thing to have, and I want it all. Are you ready to join me?” Thalia crosses her arms and stares at us. Okay, we’re done playing games. Let’s put this bitch down.
“No. We’re not like you. We’re good and want to help others. We don’t care about power because we know the most powerful thing of all is love.” I look up at Anton and smile.
“I figured you would say that, so let’s see if this changes your mind. You see, I wasn’t being completely honest with you. I knew you were in Texas and needed you to come to the palace. Thankfully, you left me a gift in Texas. You have friends there, right?” I can’t move. Please don’t tell me she’s done something to Teegan and Joel.
“Yes,” I answer. Thalia smiles and snaps her fingers. Two cages come down from the rafters. Teegan is lying inside one of them, screaming with pain and tearing at her clothes. She’s obviously still in heat, and it’s going to drive her mad if she can’t get relief. Joel is trying to break the bars in the other cage to get to her as he sobs.
“Your friend is still in heat, and there are a lot of unmated wolves in the area. Shall I release her and see what happens, or shall I keep her in the cage and let her die? The choice is yours.”
