Chapter 43 - Sisters
Petra’s P.O.V.
I have a sister? When I study Docia, she looks like me but older. I was three when I was taken from our pack, and I remember other pups being with me, but I can’t remember her.
“You’re my sister?” I ask her. She smiles and nods but then glances at Chris nervously.
“Yes, and you need to surrender to us before it’s too late.” I hear what she’s saying, but her eyes tell me something different. She looks desperate.
“I don’t think my sister wants to be with him.” I mindlink the others.
“Try to mindlink her.” Anton mindlinks me back.
“Docia, can you hear me?” Her eyes widen, and she glances toward Chris.
“Yes. I can hear you. Petra, I’m so scared. Chris forced me to mate with him because of my magic. He bought me from another pack a few years ago.” She looks like she’s going to cry. I mindlink the others again.
“She says Chris forced her to mate with him after he bought her from another pack,” I tell them.
“Ask her if he has anyone else helping him that has abilities.” Logan mindlinks me.
“Does Chris have anyone else like you that can use magic?” I look at Chris, who is looking around suspiciously.
“I know your magic is more powerful than hers, so make them bow to me now.” He roars at Docia, making her flinch. I want to use my magic on him, but I need to know what I’m up against first.
“He has a witch that stays hidden. She’s put some sort of protection spell on him, so I haven’t been able to stop him. However, we may be able to defeat him if we use our magic together.” She looks at me desperately. I nod at her. We need a distraction.
“Docia says Chris has a witch working with him, but she stays hidden. She hasn’t been able to do anything to him with her magic alone, but we want to try using our magic together. We need a distraction so she can get away from him first.” I tell them.
“I’ll distract him so you and your sister can do what you need to,” Adrian replies. I nod at him and look at Docia.
“When Adrian gets Chris’ attention, you need to run to me. Okay?” I ask her. She nods eagerly.
“You pompous ass. Your grandfather deserved to die just like you deserve to die. Why don’t you come over here and show me what kind of man you are rather than hiding behind others? To me, it looks like you’re all mouth and no action.” Adrian yells at Chris. His face turns red with anger as he stands and walks to where Adrian is sitting. Docia uses the opportunity to run to my side. She almost gets to my side when Chris sees what she’s doing.
“Bitch, you’re my mate. Get back here.” I run to her and grab her hand, pulling her to where the others are.
“Don’t you dare speak to my sister like that,” I yell at him. I look at Docia. “Are you ready?”
“Yes.” Being close to her, I feel like the magic intensifies in me. Without saying anything, we know exactly what to do. Chris begins running toward us, but before he takes more than two steps, he falls to his knees. I can feel something in him trying to stop our magic, but we’re stronger. He screams in pain before passing out. When we stop, I have all the chains fall off the royal family, but no one moves. I look to see if there’s something else holding them down and realize they’re staring at the two of us.
“I had heard the magic of the Mystic Moonlighters was incredible, but to see it in action is truly remarkable,” Adrian says. I look at Docia, and we start laughing as we hug each other.
“I don’t remember you,” I tell her. She pushes my hair from my face and hugs me again.
“You were so little when we were taken. I’m four years older than you. They separated us as soon as we left our pack. You couldn’t say my name, so you called me Doci.” Oh, my goodness. I know that name.
“Doci? I remember asking for Doci at the first pack before I was rescued.” Docia hugs me again as we both cry. I can’t believe I have a sister.
“What are we going to do with Chris?” Docia asks, looking at Adrian.
“Did he mark you?” Logan asks. She tilts her head and smiles.
“He thinks he did, but I used magic to block his venom from entering me. When I marked him, I never actually bit him; I just made it feel like I did. Are you mated, Petra?” Docia asks.
“Yes. This is my mate Anton. He’ll be the next alpha of the Silver Moon pack.” I look at him and smile as he puts his arm around me.
“I’m happy for you. I still hope to meet my mate someday.” I look at the others, and we all laugh. Docia looks at us with confusion, so I explain. “All of us have found our mates while we’ve been traveling around the country looking for people who were taken from their packs as pups.”
“That’s amazing. Now we’ve stopped Chris, we need to stop the witch. I’ve never met her because he talks to her in secret. I’m sure she’s already felt her spell on him break.” Docia looks to where Chris is lying on the ground.
“Let’s put some silver chains on him and see what information we can get from him when he wakes up,” Adrian says. Two of the guards pick him up and chain him to a chair. Once they’re done, I use my magic to cover the chains in silver.
“The guards and other staff are locked in the basement. I want all of Chris’ men locked in the dungeon.” Adrian says to the guards who came with us. They run off to release the others and lock up the men sleeping all over the palace grounds. Raquel walks over to me and smiles.
“How do you like it here?” I ask her.
“I love it. I get to read all the time, and I’m learning so much. I can’t wait until Teegan and Joel come back. Grandma says they’ll be back soon, maybe after Teegan’s heat. I hope so because I have something I want to ask them.” Raquel looks so much better than when we found her. I realize she called Veronica grandma, and I see the queen beaming at her.
“I’m sure they’re anxious to see you too, sweetheart. What are you going to ask them?” Raquel pulls me down to whisper in my ear.
“I want to see if they’ll adopt me and let me be their daughter.” She looks at me nervously. I already know Teegan wants to do that anyway. Knowing that Raquel wants the same thing makes my heart sing.
“I’m sure they will be honored to be your parents.” She blushes and runs back over to Veronica. Chris begins to wake up, and as he gets his bearings, he tries to get out of the chains, but the silver is burning him.
“What the fuck happened? How did you get out of those chains?” He yells at everyone. Docia walks toward him with a smirk.
“My sister and I stopped you, and she released them.” Chris glares at her.
“You’re my mate; you can’t go against me. You have to do as I say.” I walk over to her side.
“A mate is a partner, not an object for you to treat however you want. Now tell us where the witch is who’s pulling your strings because I doubt you’re man enough to do all this on your own. What do you think, Martina?” I look over at her, and she grins as she walks over. She looks Chris up and down.
“He is definitely more rogue than king.” She says. Everyone in our group begins laughing, but the others look confused.
“What do you mean?” Docia asks.
“Martina, why don’t you tell them your theory.” I wink at her even as I hear the men groan.
“So I have a theory that no one will allow me to prove. I think men’s penis sizes are based on rank. So the king would have the biggest, and the rogues would have the smallest. Chris looks more rogue than king to me. Now, would anyone like to prove me wrong?” She pulls out her measuring tape. Adrian and Victoria look at each other before throwing their heads back and laughing loudly.
“You’re a breath of fresh air,” Victoria says, wiping the tears from her eyes. Docia giggles next to me.
“I can vouch that he is definitely more rogue than king. In fact, I think I’m still a virgin.” Everyone laughs while Chris tries to break his silver chains.
“You bitch, how dare you speak to me like that?” He stops suddenly and smirks. “You wanted to know where my witch is. Well, you’re about ready to find out. She’s just arrived.”
We look around and don’t see anyone. I’m beginning to think he’s trying to trick us, but the lights suddenly go off, and a cold breeze blows around us. I rub my arms and move against Anton as we wait. A bright golden light appears near the thrones, and a woman emerges. She’s tall, close to six feet, with a beautiful curvy figure and long wave brown hair. She sits on the king’s throne, crosses her legs, and smiles. A chill runs down my spine. I don’t like this.
“I understand you were looking for me.”
