The Princess’s Broken Alpha

Chapter 33

Zion could feel himself moving through a forest. It was deep, dark and cool. There was something unnerving about it as he was surrounded by the extremely tall trees. When he looked up the moon was frighteningly bigger than he'd ever seen it before. When Zion moved to walk off instead of his feet hitting the ground it was paws. He was in his wolf form. When did he shift? He started to walk and the moon seemed to grow bigger following him. He could hear wolves in great numbers howling all around him but he couldn't see any wolves. Somehow the howls were directed towards him. Was he crazy or did the moon look it was falling? What the hell is going on? A bright light erupted and he was jolted from his sleep.

He woke up drenched in sweat and struggled to unclench his rigid jaw muscles. He could feel all the sweat running down and soaking into the bed. The pain was enough to make him lose breath as he struggled to breathe. Oh God not this today. A fresh wave hits from the base of his spine going up and his vision blurs as he clenches his fist. His entire back is on fire and feels sore to the touch. The pain is almost unbearable as his vision starts to blur.

"Zi!"

There is a pounding on the door and Zion curses under his breath wondering if he was losing it....What time is it? Looking over at the clock it flashes that it's almost noon. No wonder he's here. He was always up by 6 the latest.

Zion can hear him shuffle at the door waiting for a response. As he's about to answer another fresh wave of pain hits from his spine going up again and he grunts in pain trying to sit up. Everything is so fucking blurry. "Zi!"

Motherfucking shit can he wait?!

Before he can respond the door opens and Daniel looks at him like he's seen a ghost.

"Fucking hell! You look like death!"

Daniel closes the door and rushes over, his eyes holding sympathy for him.

"I'm fine" Zion grunts out.

He reaches into his drawer fishing for the pain meds and Zion just wanted more than anything to be alone right now. The pain was making him beyond irritable.

"I don't need the meds" Zion roughly tells his brother.

Daniel stops to look at his stubborn brother angrily.

"The bloody hell you don't! You're suffering and you get no points for acting tough. You look like you're about pass out any minute from the fucking pain!" he roars at him trying to find the small vial and needle.

"I'll be fine." he tells his brother adamantly, briefly closing his eyes "I'd rather feel the pain. Maybe this should be the way it is."

There's a quiet in the room where our words cannot fill and his green eyes look at Zion.

"Where is it?"

Zion cursed out loud.

"It's in my room."

He turns to leave and Zion stops Daniel. He was starting to feel himself slowly slipping out of consciousness.

"Don't let her see me like this. I can't have her see me like this." he pleaded.

Daniel grimly nodded and left. He ran down the hall until he reached the door but before he could knock Kiarra opened the door almost colliding with him. Daniel knew she'd felt it when he saw her panicked expression and the worry in her eyes. This means that their bond was developing stronger.

"What happened?" she rushed out looking him over but he seemed intent on entering the room?

He hurriedly sprinted past her to get the pain meds wondering how he was going to be able to keep Zion's wishes. Her brows furrowed at the pain meds he had in his hands and he could see her brain running a mile a minute to try and think what could have possibly happened. To hell with it all. He didn't have time for this.

"Zion is sick and in pain. I need to get his pain down because he's suffering."

She felt like the air had been knocked out of her and she pushed herself to sprint after him. Werewolves didn't get sick? But then again he was in a wheelchair. The moment she entered the room her stomach twisted painfully. She felt sick that she had ignored him and she cupped her cheeks in fright. He looked shockingly near death. His blonde hair was laying flat as he was covered in sweat. She willed herself to be strong and not have a break down.

Zion barely saw her through his blurred vision. She looked so frightened. Finally she was looking at him. His lips started to form her name and then everything went black.

"Is he going to be okay?" Kiarra finally managed to ask. She wanted to cry but not now. She could still feel him but it felt faint and it was making her anguish increase.

"I honestly don't know" Daniel croaked sadly.

Daniel shakily places the bottle on the table. His shoulders are rigid but his eyes are glossed over. She jumps into action and calmly takes it from him. She clearly had steadier hands.

Kiarra injects the fluid and it tears her up on the inside being so close to him and seeing how much he was suffering. His skin looked pasty and as she placed a hand on his forehead he was cold, so cold. Too cold.

"We need to put him in some warm water. He's too cold and then we'll wrap him up."

Daniel follows her order and leaves for the bathroom. She can hear the tub filling up with water as she tenderly pushed his hair back from his forehead. Kiarra never thought of it but now it dawned on her that since she had his room it must have been really hard on him in this room seeing as his was specified for him and his wheelchair. This wasn't.

The water stops and she can hear Daniel's heavy footsteps. He quickly lifts him with ease and carries him to place him in the tub with the steam floating off. She could swear she saw him shiver when he lowered him in or was that her mind.

It took awhile before they got him out of the tub and wrapped up in the bed. They both stood watching him.

"It comes and goes." Daniel tells her " It used to happen a lot when we were little. It hasn't happened for the past two years now so we thought maybe it went away."

Kiarra bit her lip hard not taking her eyes off of Zion. Daniel looks at her.

"He's going to be okay. He has to be"
