The Palace Beast

Chapter 132 - King’s Quest

John couldn't turn down the king's request. On his acceptance to take on the quest to save the southern kingdom, the king sends him on his way to the southern kingdom with one hundred knights and the commander of the king's knights whose name is Lord Alb.

It's been two days on a horseback. John didn't like riding on the horses again since his new discovering of more abilities. He preferred to Orb himself to wherever he wishes but Queen Bonnie told him not to display how powerful he is before the king lest the king will see him as a threat to his throne. 'Let the king hear of what you can do but don't show him and don't let him see for he is a jealous king,' Bonnie said to him before he ventured into his journey to the king's palace. As they were approaching the bother of the southern kingdom, they got to a bridge but couldn't cross over because there's a large rock that was used to block the bridge. Lord Alb ordered his men to move the rock.

"You don't have to be too hard on your men," said John as he climbs down from the horse. "They need their strength to fight the werewolves not to move a rock."

"How then do we get across the bridge without moving the rock?" Lord Alb asked. He didn't like John acting as if he's in charge. He should be the one giving orders around here not John.

"I will move the rock myself."

"I know you possess the power of a witch and you defeated the gods and drove them away but that rock is huge for you to move without help."

"Watch and see."

John wasn't speaking about moving the rock with his human strength but with his abilities. He has the 'Telekinesis' ability. 'Telekinesis' is the ability to move objects as well as individuals with the mind. It can be channeled through the eyes or hands, the latter being the most common way to use the power. This is one of the most common yet most versatile powers possessed by magical beings or the Elders, be they good, evil, or neutral.

The strength of Telekinesis varies depending on the strength and skill of users. A lot of practice and concentration will improve the precision and accuracy as well as the distance that objects or beings can be moved. When the Elders learned how to channel their powers through their hands, they found themselves stronger, being able to move objects by just flicking their fingers.

John stood before the rock which was about 25ft tall and then channeled his power through his eyes, by narrowing his eyelids and focusing his eyes on her the rock. He once used this power to move the gods into the river of No Man Land after slaughtering them. During this process, his powers grew as the old man appeared to him and revealed he can be able to channel his powers through his hands. When his powers first manifested through his hands in Maxis, he lifted both a horse and a guard for a few moments without any sign of concentration.

Lord Alb and his men paid close attention to John as he stood before the rock staring at it. Unable to wait anymore, Lord Alb climbs down his horse and makes his way to John. "What are you waiting for; you can't keep us here all day here." "You don't hurry magic."

He needs to concentrate to move a larger object since he was just mastering Telekinesis. However, his time to concentrate has been ruined by Lord Alb. In his anger he flicked his fingers forcing the rock to be lifted off the bridge and with his eyes focusing on the rock, he threw the rock into the river.

The knights were marveled and glances at each other as John walks back to his horse. "We have werewolves to kill," he said climbing his horse.

...Thirty Minutes Later...

As John led by Lord Alb and his men approaches the southern kingdom's gate, the werewolves ambushed them before they could get a few paces closer to the castle gate.

"Drag them down," roared the werewolf alpha as his eyes glowed red. He quickly pounced at one of the knights and ripped his heart out. Without relenting, he quickly grabbed Lord Alb and dragged him down from his horse.

The werewolves were about three hundred in number and they all have them surrounded. However, John was not in haste to reveal his powers. He quickly climbed down from his horse and pleaded with the alpha to spare Lord Alb. His intention was to get into the gate first before he can engage with the werewolves.

"Why will I spare him?" roared the werewolf alpha as he cast a scornful sideways glance at John. His claws were firm on Lord Alb's throat that he finds it hard to breathe.

"His life matters to no one but mine matters even to King Edward II. Take me in his stead."

On hearing this, the werewolf alpha releases Lord Alb from his grip and then pushed him away. He pounced at John and then held him down. He growled and then gazes into John's eyes. "I will take you all and see what the king has to say to himself about it."

The knights wanted to fight through but this is not a good time to talk about fighting when surrounded and outnumbered by werewolves. On John's order, they lowered their swords and went on their knees in total surrender. This displeases Lord Alb. He should be the one giving order and not John. He quickly unsheathed his silver sword and slit the throat of one of the werewolves next to him.

As Lord Alb was going for the filth werewolves after he succeeded in killing four, the werewolf alpha pounced at him and sank his claws into his chest, and then ripped out his heart. "This will be the fate of anyone who dares me! So let me ask, is there anyone else?"
