POV

Even if it meant confronting the most dangerous people in the city. I took a deep breath and pulled my chair where I was tied towards Selena.

"I won't let you get away with this," I said firmly. "I'll find out the truth and make sure you and your accomplices pay for what you did to Ava." Selena's expression hardened. "You're making a big mistake crossing us. You have no idea what we're capable of."

"I have an idea," I replied with a hint of steel in my voice. "And I won't back down until justice is served."

My words had barely left my lips when she delivered a hard slap across my face. Pain exploded through my cheek, and I stumbled back, my hand instinctively reaching for the stinging sensation. But my hands didn't come 'cause they were tied. Alpha Zander jumped up from his chair, his eyes blazing with anger.

"What the hell, Selena? We want her well, not hurt!" he thundered.

Selena scowled at him, her hands clenched into fists. "She's a threat, Alpha Zander, and I won't let her ruin everything we've built! Ava was weak, and she paid the price. This one is no different."

I gritted my teeth, fighting back the urge to retaliate. This situation was spiraling out of control faster than I had anticipated, and I needed to tread carefully if I wanted to stay alive.

"I'm not a threat, Selena. I just want to know the truth," I said calmly, but the fight was evident in my voice.

Selena sneered at me, her eyes cold as ice. "You want the truth? Fine. The truth is that Ava was an Idiot, who sacrificed herself for you, and we had to get rid of her. It was nothing personal, just business."

My blood ran cold at her callous words. They had killed Ava in cold blood, and now they were threatening me. But I refused to show them any fear.

"You're sick, Selena. You and your cronies are going to pay for what you did," I spat out, my voice laced with venom.

Alpha Zander looked at me with concern, his eyes softening. "Listen, we can work this out. You don't have to be your enemy. All you have to do is keep quiet."

I shook my head, my eyes blazing with determination. "I won't be silent, Alpha Zander. Ava deserves justice, and so do I."

Selena snorted, a wicked smile spreading on her face. "You won't be alive to see justice served. But, hey, at least you'll die knowing the truth."

I backed away slowly with my chair, my eyes darting around the room, searching for an escape. But before I could make a move, Selena's goons snatched me from my chair, their hands holding me in a vice-like grip. My heart raced as I braced myself for the worst, but to my surprise, Alpha Zander stepped forward, his eyes burning with a fierce intensity.

"Let her go," he commanded, his voice low and dangerous.

The goons hesitated for a moment, but then they released me, backing away to a safe distance.

"Alpha Zander, what are you doing?" Selena screeched, her eyes widening in fear.

Alpha Zander turned to her, his voice cold as steel. "This ends here, Selena. We don't need to be monsters to get what we want. I won't let you destroy everything we've worked so hard for."

Selena glared at him, her eyes flashing with anger, but she didn't make a move. Instead, she backed away slowly, her hand reaching for the door.

"You'll regret this, Alpha Zander. This isn't over," she hissed, her words trailing off as she disappeared through the door.

I watched her go, my heart pounding in my chest. I had just escaped death by a hair's breadth, and I knew that this wasn't the end.

I turned to Alpha Zander with wide eyes. Why had he defended me? It was suspicious.

"Why did you defend me?" I asked Alpha Zander, still in shock from the confrontation with Selena.

He approached me slowly, his hand reaching up to caress my cheek. "Because I couldn't let her hurt you," he said softly, his eyes locking with mine.

I pulled away from him, still feeling unsure about his intentions. "But why? What do you want from me?"

He sighed, looking down for a moment before meeting my gaze again. "It's simple, really. If you still don't understand, soon you will."

I narrowed my eyes, not content with his vague answer. "That doesn't answer my question. What is it that you want from me?"

Alpha Zander took a step closer, his eyes intense. "You are strong, independent, and beautiful. Do you know that?"

I blushed, feeling slightly flattered but also cautious. "That still doesn't explain your motives."

He took my tied hand gently, bringing it up to his lips to place a soft kiss on it. "I want you for a very good reason. And," he added with a small smile, "I also have to admit that I'm drawn to you."

I was taken aback by his confession, unsure of how to react. "A very good reason? What if I don't want to be a part of your plan?"

He let go of my hand, his expression turning serious.

Alpha Zander stepped closer, he grinned, his hand moving from my cheek to my waist. "I know this isn't what you want, but it's what we need to do," he said firmly before leaning in to kiss me. I resisted at first, but then I let myself go. It was useless to resist.

As he stepped back, I looked up at him with confusion etched across my face. "Please, Alpha Zander, just tell me why you need me," I pleaded.

He turned to face me. "I can't tell you now, but soon you will know. But it will be great." He viciously said.

And just like that, he turned and left me alone in the pitch-black room, still tied to the chair. Panic began to set in as I struggled against the ropes, desperate to find a way out.

But just as I began to lose all hope, I heard a faint click and a beam of light broke through the darkness. The door slowly creaked open, revealing a shadowy figure.

"Who are you?" I asked, my heart pounding in my chest.

The figure stepped closer, and as the light hit his face, I could see who it was, and I was shocked.
