It was the next morning and I left my sleeping goddess in bed to attend this damn meeting. I can’t even explain how hard it was to leave my Mila who just so happened to be lying naked with the sheet half off of her, exposing her perfect breasts. It took every ounce of strength not to stay and ravish her gorgeous body, waking her up with my head between her legs. Yeah, Bain wasn’t too happy about that..but we will have more than enough time when we go on our vacation.

I scheduled this meeting for as early as possible because I wanted to keep my day clear for Mila and I to pack and get everything ready for the surprise trip I’m planning. We usually attend this kind of stuff together but my dad and Elder Nicolas asked that it be just us three. That didn’t sit well with me..so I needed to know what the f**k was going on.

Walking towards my dad’s office, I quickly rolled up my white sleeves and brushed my silver hair back. The stress of what this could possibly be about already swimming through my mind.

I hurriedly knocked twice on my dad’s door and heard the sound of soft laughter coming from inside.

“Come in son.” My dad yelled, and I swiftly opened the door and walked into his newly renovated office. Since becoming an Elder he has been busier than ever and needed an update with all of his electronics and filing system. I guess that included new furniture, paint, and art for the walls as well..oh yeah, we also can’t forget the fully stocked wet bar behind his desk.

“Alpha Rowan, good morning.” Elder Nicolas greeted me, sitting on the leather sofa across from my dad.

“Good morning, thanks for pushing the meeting to this morning.” I knew it wasn’t a big deal because Elder Nicolas was like family to us. So he was always more lenient with these types of situations. But if you are on his bad side, yeah, he can be a scary guy if he wants to be.

Looking down I noticed three cups of coffee with a tray of pastries and fruit waiting on the table in front of them.

“I know you like to eat breakfast with my beautiful daughter-in-law, but I got you a coffee anyway.” My dad informed me with a smile, gesturing towards the table. He and Eleanor usually have afternoon tea together…which I rarely get invited to..so I relish my breakfast time with Mila..alone.

“Thanks.” I sat down, taking the cup as a weird tension filled the room. My dad and Nicolas exchanged a look that made me feel uneasy already.

“Okay, let’s just get to it then, I’m obviously not going to like what you are about to say.” I spoke bluntly, not wanting to beat around the bush.

My dad cleared his throat, scooting closer to the edge of the couch as he rested his elbows on his knees and clapped his hands together.

“No, you won’t like what we are about to say..but it isn’t confirmed yet. It is all based on information we got from a neighboring pack.” My dad sighed, staring at me intently as I put the coffee cup down. I could feel Bain already pacing in the back of my mind.

“Go on then.” I leaned back, pushing my fingers through my hair and clenching my jaw. I had a feeling whatever this was it involved Mila in some way..

“Well, we have gotten word from the Wind Haven Pack that there might be a possible threat to Black Stone.” Elder Nicolas began. Wind Haven was a pack about three hours from us that we have been allies with for the past five years.

“What threat?” I tried not to growl, pushing Bain to the back of my mind.

“They captured a group of rouges passing through their territory and managed to take two men prisoner that seemed to have valuable information.” He continued, glancing at my dad once more and I was beginning to feel impatient..can’t they just spit it out?

“These rogues said they were called to gather two miles north of our border by the rogue king..” My father said, realizing my patience was wearing thin.

“The rogue king..we killed that a*****e months ago.” I spat out, looking between them. There must be some other prick claiming to be the new king..we get a couple of so-called ‘rogue kings’ every few years..

“Well from what the rogues told them, we believe it is an entirely different man, but he seems to have some type of grudge against Black Stone..against the Alpha and Luna.” Elder Nicolas informed me and my hands instantly clenched into fists.

“Did they identify the man?” I gritted through my teeth. I wanted to take care of this as soon as possible..the fact that they even named my Luna..my Mila..I want all of those men dead.

“We have done some digging. We believe that the previous ‘rogue king’ was the son of an Alpha who had his pack taken from him. He was challenged for the position of Alpha and slain. We approved of the challenge ourselves considering the treatment their members were receiving..it was one of the worst cases we had ever seen. The thing is, the Alpha didn’t just have one son, he had two.” Elder Nicolas spoke matter of fact, this news coming as a surprise to me..so he had a brother and was born from Alpha b***d. Great, now this d**k is trying to pick up where his brother left off apparently..

“We were able to identify the previous rouge with a DNA sample Tristan took and kept on file.” My dad explained, and I couldn’t help but feel proud of my gamma, he was always thinking ahead.

“Do we know where the brother could be?” I tried to keep my cool, knowing how obsessed and delusional the previous guy was of my mate..no way in hell will I let another man threaten my Mila like that again.

“Well, that’s where it runs cold..after their dad was killed his sons disappeared. No one knows where the brother might be currently. Your father and I, we think he is working behind the scenes. The rogues say they never saw him personally but they would get anonymous calls from the man for directions of what to do next. He is out for b***d Alpha, to avenge his brother.” Elder Nicolas looked at me cooly, and I couldn’t help but sigh..great, another egotistical prick, that’s all we need.

“We have no records of this man besides his family tree. No pictures or even paper trails of where he might have gone, but the fact that the rogues knew about Black Stone and mentioned revenge for the previous king’s death, we believe he is who is behind the rogue attacks lately.” After Nicolas was done speaking, he reached forward and grabbed his coffee, taking a long drink.

“We should send a few scouts to see if what they said is true. I want a four-mile radius searched up north. If they are planning to attack us we need the upper hand.” I said in my Alpha tone.

“Maybe I should cancel the trip for now, we can’t leave Black Stone during a time like this.” I thought out loud, the mere idea making my heart ache..I know Mila doesn’t even know about the trip..but we can postpone it for a few days.

“I’m sorry son, I know you were really looking forward to it.” My dad placed his hand on my knee and I nodded, trying my hardest not to smash this coffee cup against the wall.

“Is there anything else we need to discuss?” I looked between my dad and Elder Nicolas and they both shook their heads no.

“I will inform Tristan and have a group of four warriors sent up north. We should hold a meeting tomorrow and inform our allies, the sooner they are all filled in the better we can protect ourselves.” I stood up, ready to get to work as I nodded towards my dad and Elder Nicolas, saying goodbye.

Once I stepped into the hall, closing the door behind me, I let my head fall. Disappointment soon replaced that anger for not getting to give my mate the vacation she deserves. I guess she didn’t even know about it..but still..I feel horrible.

‘Blake, can you call the airlines and cancel the trip? I will brief you and Tristan on what’s going on in thirty. Meet me in my office.’

I linked to Blake, knowing he already had our trip booked and ready to go..he might be just as annoyed as I am..he kind of helped set up the whole thing.

‘Seriously dude? What the hell..’

He g*****d, and I just closed the link, not wanting to hear his guilt trip.

I quickly told Tristan to meet me in my office in thirty and hastily walked to the elevator.

I needed to see my mate before I dive into this shit. She is the only thing that can make this better..so much for getting time to ourselves.
