Chapter 247 Hello, Everyone
Charles had thoughtfully guided Nancy throughout the duration of the meeting.
Even Nancy found his actions a little inconceivable. And so, the lady wondered how their peers might have felt. Nancy was still in a daze even after the meeting had ended.
"Mrs. Fu, we shall go first!"
"Mrs. Fu, I hope you can attend our meetings more often from here on!"
"Yes, that is right, Mrs. Fu. We all hope to hear your ideas in the future!"
Charles was in a good mood that day, and the meeting went smoothly-especially given Nancy's attendance.
Everyone sincerely hoped to see Nancy again.
Her presence had undeniably benefited everyone, and everyone recognized that.
Nancy simply nodded and smiled at everyone.
Everyone soon left the conference room. Nancy found herself sporting a huge smile as she sat on her chair.
"Do you want to stay here?" Charles said as he gently took Nancy's coffee cup away.
"What?" Charles' voice brought Nancy back to reality. The corners of her mouth had grown a little stiff, and so she rubbed them. "Well, the meeting is over?" she asked. "What? Honey, did you fall asleep?" Charles asked, clearly surprised with how Nancy reacted.
Although her face was obviously filled with joy, Nancy's eyes were somewhat blank. Everything she had done was merely instinctive and her mind belonged elsewhere.
"No, honey! I'm absolutely awake. I was just reciting the names of my patients in my head!"
"Hmm.. How can you be so dedicated?" Charles asked with a sliver of annoyance.
"Well, don't you like me to be dedicated? After all, you are the biggest shareholder of the hospital!" Nancy stood up and said, "I have to admit, it's not that easy to hold a meeting. I used to think that you simply sit all day long!"
"I guess you can call me dedicated, don't you think?" Charles teasingly said as he grabbed and wore his coat.
Nancy raised her eyebrows and said, "I guess so. I'm famished. Let's go out and eat!"
"Sounds great! But first, let's pick up the kids!" Charles replied enthusiastically.
"The kids are still in school. It's not yet time to pick them up, Charles. Why don't we pick them up later?" To be honest, Nancy was a bit overwhelmed with Bobby and Nadia.
She realized how fast their children were growing. And that required them to grow as parents as well.
But the fact remained, Nancy still didn't know how to answer their questions!
They were starting to be quite troublesome.
"But we promised to take them to the movies, remember? Let's go!" Charles pleaded.
"Okay..." Nancy reluctantly accepted.
Charles held her arm as they walked out of the building.
"You are unusually sweet today, aren't you?" Nancy blushed as she asked.
"Well, get used to it!"
"Show off!" Nancy scoffed as she rolled her eyes.
Charles shrugged and said, "It's not showing off! I just want to be intimate, that's all." "I've made up my mind. I want the whole world to know how much I love you. That should stop anyone who wants to make trouble," the man added. He sounded more serious that time.
"It seems that you are using me as a trophy, Mr. Fu!" Nancy joked.
"Well, if that's how you'd like to view my love for you, then I have nothing else to say," Charles said with hint of grief.
Nancy smiled, "Charles, why do you have to be so sensitive? You are a grown man. You should take jokes more lightly, okay?"
She clenched her fists as she spoke. Nancy then playfully hit Charles by the chest.
"Ouch, it hurts!" Charles frowned, seemingly in pain.
"I didn't even use much strength. Are you hungry or something? Does your shoulder hurt? How about your back?" Nancy nervously asked.
"Yes, Nancy! They're all hurting..."
Her face suddenly turned serious. "Let's go. We'll eat later. I'll drive you to the hospital," Nancy suggested.
Heart pain, shoulder and back pain-Charles could be having a heart attack! Nancy was worried sick.
Seeing the sudden change in Nancy's mood, Charles laughed boisterously and said, "Nancy, I was just kidding! You silly woman! Ha ha..." "Charles! That's not funny! How dare you frighten me like that? Do you want to die?" Nancy's eyes were wide open. Once again, she clenched her fists, ready to give the man another punch.
But before she could do so, Charles quickly ran away. Everyone in the hallway could hear him laugh.
Nancy immediately chased after him.
Everyone starred at the two. It seemed as if they both had returned to younger versions of themselves. It was apparent that they were both each other's reason to get up every morning.
They chased and played in the hallway, not minding what other people would think.
The secretaries exchanged glances and whispered inaudibly.
"Is that really the president of this company?"
"Ah, this is so strange. Mr. Fu had never been tolerant of any noise. How can that man act like this?"
"Take video of it so that we won't forget!"
"I truly hope Miss Ning comes here every day!"
"I agree. Miss Ning is like our spring breeze, our sunshine!"
"Whatever it is, I think she is the reason why Mr. Fu smiles. He seems to always be in a good mood whenever she's around."
Charles could hear everyone's words. He simply smiled.
He didn't care if they watched. The man didn't even care that they were taking a video.
In fact, Charles wanted someone to record how happy he was with Nancy.
Nancy moved so quickly that she lost her balance. "Ah!" she screamed. Charles immediately turned around to check on her. The man saw Nancy as she fell down.
He rushed towards Nancy and held her in his arms. "What are you doing? You are so careless!"
"I know you'll turn around for me." Nancy smiled.
"You did that on purpose? What if you really got hurt?" Charles asked angrily
'Why does this woman care so little about her body?' he thought.
Nancy didn't do it on purpose. She actually almost fell down just then. She just didn't want to be poked fun at by Charles.
"Okay. I'm sorry," Nancy said.
"Little lady, don't scare me like that!" He then held her in his arms as they walked into the elevator.
People applauded just as the elevator door closed.
"Miss Ning, you must come again tomorrow!" someone shouted.
"Yes, Miss Ning. You must come again. Our life would be easier with you around!"
"Ha ha..."
With her arms around Charles' neck, Nancy asked, "Hey, Charles, are you ever mean to your employees? They all seem to be afraid of you..."
"Are you afraid of me?" he asked mischievously.
"Am I afraid of you? You've got to be kidding me,"
Nancy replied scornfully.
Charles looked at Nancy's playful face. Then he remembered that very night, five years ago that day.
He could remember how Nancy's whole body trembled before him.
"What's wrong? Why do you look at me like that?" Nancy said as she waved her hand in front of him.
"Nothing! It's nothing..." Charles thought for a while and said, "I'm still thinking about that painting. When do you plan to finish it?"
"Well, my shoulder is injured right now... I can't even properly use a scalpel! How in the hell can I draw then?" Nancy sounded pitiful. "Well, you are the doctor. So tell me, when will your shoulder recover?" That was the thing he truly cared about deeply. "Don't worry. The bone is not hurt. Soon, Charles. My shoulder will recover soon." Nancy did her best to comfort the man.
