Chapter 71 

AUTHOR’S POV 

Alpha Kane’s heart beamed with joy as he was crowned as the new Alpha. This was exactly what he wanted since he was a kid. To prove his father wrong that he was worthy of becoming the Alpha and that being an illegitimate child is not a crime after all, it was his parent’s mistake, so why should he be the one to suffer the consequences? 

He looked around and his heart swelled with pride as he saw the way everyone was cheering for him. 

“Long Live Alpha Kane!” 

“Long Live Alpha Kane!” The crowd chorus and he couldn’t stop the smile that spread across his face. He had been dreaming of this day for so long and now that his dream had come to pass, all he could do was smile. 

He left where he was standing and went to greet his guess one after the other for showing up. When he reached Alpha Xander’s side a huge smile spread across his face as he thanked him wholeheartedly. 

“Alpha Xander, no amount of thank you would express how grateful I am to you. You made this day possible and I’ll forever be grateful for your kindness,” he said with a smile on his face.

“You came this far because of your dedication. Congratulations!” Alpha Xander greeted him and his face fell on Maliya who had a frown on her face 

She didn’t look the least happy and she didn’t bother to hide it either. Alpha Kane ignored Maliya since it was his happy day to attend to his other

Alpha Kane went to stand in front of everyone with a huge smile on his face as he planned to announce his Luna to the entire park.

scanned through the crowd and he didn’t miss the excitement on their faces as they were all eager to hear who he was about to mention when his eyes fell on Maliya who had a scowl on her face. She didn’t seem the least pleased to be here and anyone could tell by just looking at her

Usually, he wouldn’t have cared about her, but there was something different about her today. 

“Is it because she is wearing make up? Or could it be because of the beautiful dress she was wearing! Everything complemented each other and she looked undeniably beautiful,” he thought to himself. 

It was weird to admit that he found Maliya attractive, especially when he had never found her attractive before. He never really cared about her in the past, and neither has he ever looked at her long enough to notice her beauty. He believed that if it was there, he would notice from the first glance which he never did. 

He has never found her attractive in any way in the past and the only reason he tolerated her and stayed with her for so long was because of his mother. 

But tonight, there was something different about her. Something that made him smitten with her beauty. It was strange, there and he could feel it.

His eyes roamed over the visible pan of her body from the way she was sitting and all he could see was 11 our in the crowd and he couldn’t help but wonder what happened. 

“How is she still alive? He thought to himself as he looked at her with curiosity. The news of Alpha Xander’s slaves dying within a few weeks of their being sold to him was no longer a new thing. Before one could take anyone to Alpha Xander, he must have been certain that the woman was completely useless because none of them had ever returned to their families after the six months that was said in the deal, which was why he usually offered them a huge amount of money. 

Maliya staying alive wasn’t the only thing that baffled Prince Kane, also he wondered why Alpha Xander was keeping her close to himself. 

“Could it be because she is a good fuck? He thought to himself. Only good sex would make a man like Alpha Xander keep a woman for so long. 

He had never gone that far with Maliya before because she was too naive for his liking. Although they have engaged in different sexual activities which Maliya has proven to be terribile in every aspect, especially when it comes to giving blow jobs

He wanted to know what she had that made Alpha Xander keep her close and he couldn’t believe how hard he had become from the mere thought and he found himself staring at Maliya longingly 

Maliya watched him closely as he stared at her and her stomach twitched with disgust. She glared back at him because all she felt towards him was nothing but hatred and anger. 

Alpha Xander didn’t fail to notice the way Mallya had been glaring at Alpha Kane. He could tell just how angry she was from the way she was shaking her legs under the table since the moment she got back and he understood why.. 

Of course, she wasn’t pleased to watch the man who sold her off become the Alpha knowing fully well that they could come that far because she was

He looked at Maliya whose only focus was on Alpha Kane as she kept on glaring at him. He wondered if that was the reason why she said she didn’t want to be here in the first place. If only she had told him the full story, he wouldn’t have brought her here and made her feel so uncomfortable. 

He wondered if Maliya knew that she was his mate because she hadn’t mentioned it before. Not that he had mentioned anything about it too but he felt like if she knew, things would be different. 

He could feel the attraction between them, but he also saw the doubt in her face most times. 

He knew that there was a probability that she hadn’t found out yet, considering how weak her wolf was, or maybe her wolf was still healing from all the pain she had been through. 

He watched her closely and found himself admiring 

her even more. 

“She looked beautiful naturally, and she looked even more beautiful when she was angry, Alpha Xander thought to himself. He couldn’t help but feel even more attracted to Maliya with every passing time he spent with her and he hoped things would get better between them when they finally returned back to his pack 

Just then, Lord Williams came to whisper into Alpha Xander’s car. 

“I’ve gotten some information about Alpha Kane and Maya’s relationship. Should I go ahead and say it now or can it wait till later?” He asked and Alpha Xander shook his head immediately. 

Alpha Xander turned to Maliya to excuse himself. “I need to attend to something Don’t go anywhere. I’ll be right back,” he informed her before leaving the hall. 

Alpha Xander went out where he could speak freely with Lord Willimas before asking him what happened. 

“What did you find?” He asked

was indeed Maliya’s ex–mate. He sold her off to get on your good side so that he can become the Alpha,” Lord Williams announced and he clenched his fist 

He couldn’t help the surge of rage that coursed through his veins as tried to wrap why Kane would sell his mate around his head. 

He didn’t know what kind of relationship they had and he knew that Maliya could be stubborn too, but that wasn’t enough reason to send his mate to a lion’s den. 

“What if things weren’t different this time? What if she had died like the rest did? What if she wasn’t special?” Alpha Xander thought to himself and his anger skyrocketed. 

He was supposed to protect her as his mate irrespective of what happened, but he was the same one who sold her for power. Alpha Xander couldn’t hide has disappointment as he listened to Lord Willimas. 

“Is that all?” He asked with a frown. As much as he was glad that Alpha Kane was stupid enough to sell Maliya and now she was his, he was also mad that she had gone through all of that as she didn’t deserve it 

“It doesn’t end there.” Lord Williams announced, making Alpha Xander glared at him with curiosity. 

“What is it again?” 

“Maliya is also an illegitimate child of the Vincent family and she doesn’t seem to be welcomed a bit. She was always maltreated at any given opportunity and her step sister would do anything to make her suffer, Lord Williams let out. 

Alpha Kander’s mind went back to the day they were playing question and answer in the bathtub and how she mentioned her family briefly. She did mention that she was an illegitimate daughter and she didn’t have a good relationship with her family.

their fault that the adults made a stupid decision. 

He also agreed to help Alpha Kane because of this reason, but he won’t forgive anyone who made Maliya suffer one way or the other

Aander felt nothing but anger and hatred for those who hurt Maliya and made her cry at a point in time. 

He swore to do whatever it took to hurt every single one of them back if that was what it would take for Maliya’s wound to heal. “They bullied the wrong person and I’ll make them pay for it. Every single one of them,” Alpha Xander vowed to himself.
