"A bunch of useless fools!" David snapped. "There are so many of you, and not one could keep an eye on her? What good are you? Find her! Check the security footage!"

Before leaving, he had explicitly told them not to let Caroline leave the residence, to keep a close eye on her

Yet, they still lost her!

"Yes, Mr. Ellison, we're already looking. We found a retractable ladder. From our initial assessment, Mrs. Ellison must have climbed down from the second floor, then... then ran off..."

"Then send someone to chase her! Idiots!"

David was seething with anger.

At this critical moment, Caroline was only making things worse!

A pregnant woman climbing down from the second floor? Is she out of her mind? What if she slips or falls? She never gives me a moment of peace!

David's expression darkened as he prepared to leave.

"Is Caroline missing?" Nash asked. "Where could she have gone?"

"I don't know! But she won't escape my grasp!"

No matter where she was, no matter how far, he would find her.

"Does she know you came to find me? Mr. Ellison, did you two already argue about the child at home?"

It wasn't just an argument, it had been a full-blown, disruptive fight for some time now.

David paused, glanced at Nash, and answered, "Yes."

Nash's anxiety grew. "Then Caroline must have run away to find me. She thinks the child is mine, she wants to tell me, to stop you... But where is she now?"

It was Nash's phone.

He glanced at the caller ID. It was Julia.

"Hello, Julia," he answered, trying to sound casual. "I'm at the office, how..."

Before he could finish, Julia's voice rushed into his ear. I'm fine, I'm okay. Nash, I love you. I need you so much. I can't live without you. My biggest dream is to wear a wedding dress for you and become your bride. No one loves you more than I do. Nash, only I think of you wholeheartedly, and I'll do anything for you. I'll remove every obstacle in your path. Only I should be by your side, no one else. I'm doing this for your own good. Don't hate me, don't resent me... I know you can't bear to be cruel, but it's okay, I'll help you."

Nash was confused. "Julia, what are you talking about?"

There's a brief silence on the other end, followed by a muffled sound.

It sounded like someone was trying to speak, but their mouth was covered, unable to form words.

Nash's heart skipped a beat, a terrible realization beginning to settle in.

Before he could process it, David strode over, snatched the phone from his hand, and put it on speaker.
