"Nydia, why aren't you leaving yet?" Mick snapped, his gaze impatient.

"Hurry up and leave already! Are you waiting to be exposed?" he screamed in his head.

"No, Dr. Vega, please tell me more about my grandpa's condition. Why hasn't he come out yet?

Buck blocked her path, refusing to let her leave.

It was as though Nydia was his lifeline, something he couldn't afford to let go of. He needed to hold on tightly!

Nydia gestured toward the operating room and said, "They're coordinating with the ICU. Oh, look, here they come.

Just as she said that, the doors to the operating room opened again.

A hospital bed was pushed out.

"Grandpa!" Buck's face lit up with joy as he ran over.

Mick's eyes were filled with astonishment, but he quickly regained his composure.

With so many experts in the consultation, of course, the operation would succeed. Nydia probably didn't do much and left early, which was understandable.

"Now that everything's fine, you've had your moment. Keep a low profile and don't... Hey! Where are you going?"

"To find a sunny place. I'm afraid that my brain will grow mold if I keep talking to you," she

retorted.

"Nydia!" he growled.

Seeing his angry, humiliated expression, Nydia felt an odd sense of relief. She sidestepped him and was ready to leave.

Just as she had taken a few steps, a group of old men came rushing over.

They moved so swiftly that it was like watching a group of sixty-year-old marathon runners.

"Nydia, don't go yet! You haven't told us who you'll pick."

"I was the first to suggest inviting her!"

'Nydia, I'm quite close to your hospital director I've already talked to him, so you don't need to worry."

Even Mick was pushed aside to the sidelines by this energetic crowd of elderly men.

He was so utterly confused. What was going on?

This group of esteemed experts in the medical field were practically fawning over Nydia!

"I'll have to think about it," Nydia said, her tone casual and perfunctory.

However, the experts weren't upset at all. In fact, they were all smiles.

"Sure thing. Take your time."

Finally, she found an opportunity to slip away.

Mick grabbed Warren, one of the experts he was more familiar with, and asked, "Mr. Townes, just now... what was that all about?"

"Oh, that little genius!" Warren's face lit up with admiration as he mentioned Nydia. "She was the lead surgeon. She has steady hands and sharp eyes. With proper training, her future is bright."

He then added, "By the way, Mr. Wilcher, I saw you talking to her earlier. Are you close? I want to take her on as my Ph.D. student. Can you help me put in a good word for me?"

Mick was speechless. Nydia was... this talented?

"Mr. Townes, are you sure you're not mistaken?"

Warren's face instantly darkened upon hearing that.

Mick hurriedly explained, "I just mean... she seemed so young."

"All geniuses are," Warren said, then hurried off to his next consultation.

Meanwhile, Mick stood still, gazing in the direction where Nydia had left, his expression

unreadable.

He thought back to the past.

When he had been blind and preferred silence, Nydia had often refrained from speaking.

Sometimes, curiosity would get the better of him and he'd ask what she was doing. She'd reply that she was reading.

He had thought it amusing, convinced that she was pretending to be studious.

So, he asked her, "What are you reading?"

She'd reply, "Esoteric Doctrine."

!!!

When he asked again later, she replied, "Treatise on Febrile and Miscellaneous Diseases."

All the while, he thought she was making things up.

When his eyesight returned, he noticed her bookshelf filled with books on traditional medicine.

Still, he dismissed it, thinking she had bought them to appear sophisticated.

He hadn't exposed her, feeling it was an act of kindness on his part.

But now, as the truth slowly revealed itself, he felt an overwhelming sense of panic. Enjoy Ad-Free Readingss
