Saying Goodbye to My Troubles (Nydia and Mick)

Chapter My Troubles 59

Chapter 59

Mick carried a heavy scent of tobacco. It was so strong that it stung her eyes red.

Nydia instinctively stepped aside to avoid him.

Meanwhile, Mick didn't move. Instead, his face darkened with displeasure as he stared at her.

"Are you in trouble? Hoping I'll clean up after you?" His tone was full of reproach.

"That's Mr. Barton Senior. Can't you rein in your competitive spirit for once?"

Even if she wanted fame, a promotion, a pay raise, or even to gain Homer's favor, she shouldn't have taken shortcuts.

The operating room was full of experts in their field. Offending any one of them could harm the Wilcher family's interests. Thus, he would not help her.

In fact, wouldn't it be better if she left the workplace altogether because of this incident and became a housewife?

Nydia looked at him with utter confusion, as if trying to figure out what kind of nonsense filled his brain..

"Mr. Wilcher, with all due respect, you might want to check out the neurology department. It's just a left turn after the door."

Mick's expression darkened further.

"You still dare to talk back to me? If Buck weren't meeting with Dr. Clayton right now, you wouldn't even-"

"Wouldn't even what?" Nydia interrupted. "Wouldn't even be allowed to leave? Is that it?"

She scoffed. "Don't worry, Mr. Wilcher. We're divorced. Go ahead and tell Buck not to hold back"

With that, she brushed past him, intending to leave.

Just then, Mona came rushing back with a bottle of water. She was a little surprised to see Nydia walking out alone.

"Nydia, were you kicked out?" She quickly stepped forward and continued, "It's okay. You're young. It's normal to make mistakes. Don't get discouraged. I believe you'll do better in the future." still

Nydia was at a complete loss for words.

Was everyone losing their minds today?

"The optometry department is straight ahead."

Mona froze at her response.

"Nydia, how could you say that? I was just trying to comfort you. I-" Her eyes suddenly filled with tears, streaming down her cheeks.

Mick pulled Mona to his side and said coldly, "If she doesn't appreciate it, then don't bother with her!"

Letting Nydia leave before Buck returned was already the most considerate thing he could do. Nydia rolled her eyes at the two.

"No wonder they say to never argue with fools," she muttered.

She couldn't believe she once thought Mick was noble and unparalleled. What had she been thinking?

She started walking away, only to run into Buck head-on.

'Ny... Dr. Vega, my grandpa..." Buck stammered.

"Buck, what did Dr. Clayton say?" Mick stepped in beside her, holding Buck's arm to stop him.

Buck shook off his hand. "That's not important right now. Dr. Vega, why are you out here? How's my grandpa doing?"

Just as Nydia was trying to explain, Mick cut her off again. "Don't panic. The experts haven't come out yet. What could she possibly know? Let her go write up the case file first." Buck froze at his response.

"The experts haven't come out? Aren't you the assistant? Why are you out here? Does that mean something happened to my grandpa?"

He shook off Mick's hand, then grabbed Nydia's sterile gown tightly. "Say something! Tell me!

Mick frowned and tried to pull Buck away. "Buck, calm down!"

He was so annoyed at Nydia's lack of sense. He already warned her to leave quickly earlier, yet her delay had left her vulnerable to a frantic Buck Even he wasn't sure he could calm Buck down now. Finally, Nydia managed to get a word in. "The procedure was a success. What follows is a 24-hour post-op monitoring. There's no need to worry. Go ahead and arrange for ICU care.

Buck's grip loosened. His face went from shock to overwhelming joy. "You're saying my grandpa's okay?"

Mick's expression, on the other hand, grew even darker.

Was she lying just to escape? Did she even understand the consequences of such reckless.
