Chapter 8
Chapter 8
David lowered his head, looking unhappy. “Liz, some things can’t be explained in just a few words. I’ll tell you about it later.”
“Dad, I am the daughter of you and Mom. Don’t I have any right to know what happened back then?”
Elizabeth couldn’t figure out what her father was hiding.
If there really was something difficult, why not speak it out?
“Liz, you better not ask.”
The more her father acted this way, the more Elizabeth was determined to uncover the truth about what happened back then. She didn’t believe that everything could suddenly change for no reason.
There must be many things she did not know which were the key to her father’s change.
Elizabeth was not ready to give up. She still wanted to ask again.
However, David suddenly looked at her with sharp eyes on the bed. His cold gaze contained a bit of disgust. The gaze that landed on her forcefully stopped her from saying what she wanted to say next.
That look was unfamiliar.
Elizabeth paused on the spot and opened her mouth, but she couldn’t say the following words.
“Alright, leave me alone. If you have any questions, we’ll talk about them later during dinner.”“
David waved his hand and directly asked Elizabeth out.
It was like chasing away a dirty, contagious virus.
Elizabeth felt a pang in her heart, then she smiled and replied with a clear voice, “Okay.”
She turned around neatly and didn’t look at her father on the bed anymore. She closed the door heavily and went downstairs directly.
Since her father wouldn’t say it, she would naturally have another way to investigate the truth of the incident from other places.
She would never let go of anyone who hurt her mother.
In the living room, Katherine Clarke, who was already holding back her anger, glared at Elizabeth angrily when she saw Elizabeth coming out, but Elizabeth didn’t even look at her. Having always been better than Elizabeth, she naturally couldn’t
tolerate this.
She quickly stepped forward and reached out to stop Elizabeth.
“You really don’t know your place and think here is your own home,” Katherine said sarcastically.
Elizabeth glanced up at Katherine.
She didn’t come today with the intention to dispute with Katherine and her mother.
“Since you asked for it, don’t blame me for being impolite,” Elizabeth said inwardly.
“Elizabeth, you’re not trying to trick Dad by renting a man from outside, are you?” Katherine clicked her tongue.
“But then again, how could you take that sickly Andrew Hayes out? The rented guy must have been very expensive, right?” Katherine scrutinized Elizabeth from head to toe.
Elizabeth’s eyes revealed a flash of cold light, and she suddenly sneered.
“What are you laughing at?” Katherine snorted coldly as she wrapped her hands around her chest.
“Whether it’s real or fake doesn’t seem to have anything to do with you at all, right?”
Elizabeth hooked her lips into a smile. She was no longer the little girl bullied back then, and she would gradually take back. what belonged to her.
“I don’t need you to take care of my affairs. Don’t be nosy.”
“You dare to curse at me?” Katherine’s expression changed quickly as she realized that Elizabeth was cursing at her.
“I didn’t say that, but Miss Clarke, you admitted it yourself, so it’s almost certain.” Elizabeth clicked her tongue and said, “Sometimes, it’s not a bad thing to be aware of your shortcomings.”
“How dare you! Elizabeth, don’t go too far!” If it weren’t for the handsome guy outside, with her bad temper, Katherine would have already started a fight.

She subconsciously looked outside. She was slightly relieved when she saw that Andrew Hayes did not look in.
However, this instantaneous action of Katherine was seen by Elizabeth. It seemed that Katherine was still as ignorant as
before.
“What’s going on?” Knowing there would be a quarrel, Kaida hurriedly stepped forward.
Indiscriminately, she directly reprimanded Elizabeth.
“Liz, you and Kathy are sisters. Why are you arguing with her? Can’t you be a little more accommodating toward her?”
Those who did not know might think that Elizabeth had done something harmful.
“Shouldn’t you ask your daughter what happened?” Elizabeth sneered and responded without any courtesy.
She had already seen the tricks of the mother and daughter clearly. When she was still abroad, they had even asked people to stop her from returning home for various reasons.
Initially, they thought the Hayes family was a fire pit and did not hesitate to push Elizabeth into it. Now that they saw it was not the case, they thought about how to snatch it back.
How could so many good things be waiting for them in this world?
“Mom. listen to her!” Katherine glared at Elizabeth viciously. “This bitch never treated us as a family at all. She’s just a freeloader.”
Katherine’s words became increasingly harsh, and she almost wanted to despise Elizabeth from head to toe.
Elizabeth raised her eyebrows and said lightly, “Mrs. Clarke, I have recorded your daughter’s words just now. Malicious slander must be held responsible.”
Kaida’s expression changed. She didn’t expect Elizabeth to play this card.
She couldn’t let that cheap girl Elizabeth ruin her daughter’s future.
“Liz. Kathy is still young and sometimes speaks without thinking. Don’t take it to heart.” Kaida waved her hand casually and said, “What’s the point of recording in your own home? Hurry up and delete it.”
She stared at Elizabeth but found no recording device in her hands. She suddenly felt that Elizabeth was playing a trick on her, and her expression immediately turned unpleasant. Even her tone did not have superficial harmony and became gloomy.
“What, you can’t even tolerate your own sister? This is your own sister. She’s still young.”
“Still young?” Elizabeth hooked her lips. “She’s already an adult. Doesn’t she understand the simple principle of being responsible for what she says?
“Also, I came back this time just to see how my father’s illness is going on.” Elizabeth curled her lips slightly, looking somewhat proud, but her words were very proper. “Don’t say that I can’t tolerate my sister. Otherwise, people who don’t know might think there is some deep–seated hatred between us.”
Elizabeth particularly stressed the last few words,
As she spoke, she stared closely into Kaida’s eyes.
Sure enough, when Kaida heard these words, she was obviously stunned for a moment and then did not dare look into Elizabeth’s eyes.
“Hehe, what are you talking about? They are all trivial matters. Quickly clean up and prepare to eat. Kathy, go wash your hands quickly.”
Katherine was pushed to wash her hands.
But she didn’t want to leave. She wanted to tear Elizabeth’s face, make her cry and beg for mercy.
*This bitch is really getting bolder and bolder. She dares to provoke me so arrogantly. I will definitely find a chance to teach this bitcha good lesson,” Katherine said inwardly.
When passing by Elizabeth, she didn’t even think twice and raised her hand, trying to slap Elizabeth in the face.
Her speed was so fast that Kaida behind couldn’t stop her in time and could only exclaim in surprise.
“Kathy!”
