Chapter 5
The glib–tongued Benjamin wiped his face and shamelessly said again, “Come, Liz, this bowl of black truffle broth is especially stewed for you. Drink it while it’s warm, and have a big fat baby for the Hayes family as soon as possible. We are counting on your belly now, haha…”
Elizabeth felt like her head was about to smoke from embarrassment and couldn’t help turning her lead to look at Andrew, hinting with her eyes. “This is your grandpa. Why don’t you say something to ease the awkwardness?”
However, Andrew was calmly drinking milk without even sparing a glance at her.
Elizabeth rubbed her own chest, feeling so angry that she wanted to hit someone!
Just then, there was the sound of footsteps on the stairs, and Benjamin immediately looked up with excitement.
Elizabeth was a little curious about what Benjamin was excited about. She saw a servant running to Benjamin with a white silk handkerchief and showing him the bright red on the silk handkerchief. They exchanged glances, and Benjamin’s laughter almost lifted the ceiling above his head.
Elizabeth’s curiosity grew even heavier. She looked at the handkerchief several times and looked puzzled.
At her side, Andrew glanced at her while elegantly cutting the egg.
In the glimmer of light, the 20–year–old girl had a delicate and flawless face, and she was as beautiful as an elf who did not know the world. The simplicity and stupidity were all written on her face, and she had to try her best to disguise it. She was clumsily cute. Especially the thick, curled eyelashes tickled his heart like two small brushes.
Suddenly he wanted to tease her.
So he really did that.
He suddenly leaned over and approached Elizabeth’s car, whispering in a low voice that only both could hear. “You’re welcome. Consider it a gift for our first meeting.”
The sudden approach made Elizabeth tense up, but Andrew’s following words made her wonder, and she couldn’t help but tilt her head to look at him.
They were very close to each other. Elizabeth tilted her head and swept her soft and tender lips across Andrew’s cheek.
The sudden contact startled both of them momentarily and made those nearby hold their breath.
Benjamin jumped up and wanted to rush over to pull his grandson away. He knew well that his grandson was seriously obsessed with cleanliness, and whoever touched him would be met with his fury. Such a tender and frail girl could not withstand his slap. He hoped Elizabeth would not be scared to death on the first day of her marriage.
Before he rushed out, he was stopped by the butler.
The butler shook his head and made a suggestive gesture toward the two staring at each other.
Andrew’s face was icy, and Elizabeth’s lips were very soft. Both of their hearts seemed to have an electric current passing through them. For a moment, they were numb and at a loss.
Andrew had never felt this way, which made him, who had been used to controlling everything since childhood, very uncomfortable, so he tried his best to see something in Elizabeth’s face.
Unfortunately, Elizabeth had no extra emotions except being stunned and at a loss.
Oh, no, there was.
There was still a faint and imperceptible resistance.
This slight resistance suddenly made Andrew’s restless heart explode with anger. He stood up abruptly, causing the chair beneath him to overturn with a loud bang.
“I’m done eating.”
The cold voice was angrily smashed over like a hard rock.
Elizabeth was stunned at his reaction, feeling both aggrieved and angry inside.
“If he hadn’t suddenly leaned closer and spoken to startle me, how could I turn to look at him, and how could such an accident have happened?
“Besides, this kind of thing is obviously a disadvantage to me. From his skillful movements last night, it can be seen that he is an experienced player. Who knows how many women he has been intimate with?
“This was my first kiss, a real first kiss!
“Why was he angry?
“What a freak!” Elizabeth said inwardly.
Chapter 5.
Her temper flared up, and she heavily slammed the bowl of black truffle broth in her hand. Fortunately, she didn’t forget that she couldn’t be too rude in front of the elders, so she obediently spoke up. “Grandpa, I’m done eating. I’ll leave first.”
As she spoke, she chased after Andrew and left.
Behind her, Benjamin stroked his gray beard and said, “Peter, look at the way they’re bickering. Doesn’t it remind you of how Emily and I used to be?”
“Yes, Mr. Hayes, so Mr. Andrew and Mrs. Elizabeth will definitely be able to have a loving and long–lasting relationship like you and Mrs. Hayes.”
Mr. Hayes was amused by the butler’s sweet words and laughed heartily.
Outside the door, Andrew just drove out of the garage when Elizabeth chased out.
Elizabeth looked at the low–key and luxurious black car, and her guess last night was further confirmed.
She walked to the side of the road in silence and prepared to take a taxi after walking.
When the driver brought her here yesterday, she had already seen that the Hayes family’s house was in a very remote location. It would take a long walk to get a taxi if she needed to go out.
But she had to do something today, so she must go out.
Andrew didn’t know why he was driving slowly behind Elizabeth.
She seemed to be sulking with him. Andrew thought she would come up and say a few kind words to him and ask for a ride when she saw him. After all, walking from here to where she could catch a taxi would take at least an hour. But Elizabeth turned her head and chose to walk in silence.
Looking at the pitiful back in front, Andrew couldn’t help but curl his lips.
“As a man, one should be more magnanimous,” he thought.
Walking while thinking about something on her mind, Elizabeth was startled when she heard the sound of a horn behind her.
She was surprised to see that it was Andrew when she looked back.
“Why was he still here? I thought he had left long ago,” Elizabeth wondered.
Andrew was pleased by her unexpected expression, and his voice was warm. “Get in the car?”
Elizabeth stood still and tilted her head to look at him probingly.
“He was still angry just now, but now he took the initiative to let me hitch a ride. What did he mean?” she wondered.
However, she walked over after hesitating for a short moment.
On the one hand, getting to the taxi was a long way. On the other hand, she wanted to see if she could take this opportunity to have a good talk with him.
As soon as she got into the car, she thanked Andrew politely, “Thank you for the ride.”
“Hmm.” Andrew readily agreed without any politeness.
Elizabeth was left speechless for a moment. She suppressed her inner complaints and continued, “Actually, I’ve always wanted to have a good talk with you.”
“Oh?” Andrew held the steering wheel with one hand and put the elbow of the other hand on the car window, squinting at Elizabeth. “Talk about what?”
Taking a deep breath, Elizabeth assumed a negotiating posture. She calmly said, “I believe that no one besides the Hayes family should know about your split personality, and I am the exception. And you must have seen many doctors, but the effects have been minimal, judging from your symptoms last night.”
Andrew’s expression suddenly changed.
“Don’t worry. I can promise you that I will keep my mouth shut. In addition, I can cure your illness.” Elizabeth was not frightened by the fierce light in his eyes and calmly said, “Although I dare not promise that I can definitely cure you, it’s worth a try, even if it’s a long shot for you. You didn’t lose anything, did you?”
