Chapter 4
When Robert brought the water up as Elizabeth requested, Elizabeth had already helped Andrew lie on the bed.
“Mrs. Hayes, the water is here.”
“Well, give it to me.” Elizabeth reached out to take it.
Robert hesitated for a moment but still handed the water to her. He was curious to know what this Mrs. Hayes wanted to do.
Elizabeth sat on the edge of the bed, holding Andrew’s head and feeding the bowl to his mouth. The sleeping man didn’t know how to swallow on his own.
Elizabeth frowned, biting her lower lip with her fine white teeth as if struggling with something. After a few seconds, she took a sip of water and leaned over to feed Andrew mouth–to–mouth with a resigned expression.
“Mrs. Hayes…” Andrew was a clean freak. He would take a bath even if someone touched him lightly. If he were to find out that Elizabeth dared to kiss him while he was asleep, even though it wasn’t really a kiss, the intimacy level was enough for Andrew to tear her apart ten thousand times.
The tip of Elizabeth’s warm tongue gently pried open Andrew’s lips and slowly passed the water over. Fortunately, he swallowed the water this time.
After feeding most of the bowl of water in this way, Elizabeth handed the empty bowl to the dumbfounded Robert.
With a serious expression on her blushed cheeks, she said, “I am a doctor, and he is just a patient in urgent need of treatment to me. If you were lying here and needing this method to be saved, I would do the same.”
Having said that, her heart was still pounding like a drum.
This was the first time she had such close contact with a man.
She thought she would be disgusted, but she didn’t expect… Although Andrew was a bit mean, his lips were quite soft. Moreover, it was for her own selfishness to do so. She only hoped that when Andrew woke up, he would know that she had made such a big sacrifice to take care of him and could have a good talk with her.
“Go and rest first. He shouldn’t wake up tonight.”
“What about…
“I’m here, don’t worry.”
Robert was hesitant, but seeing Andrew sleeping peacefully, he dispelled the hesitation in his heart.
“Anyway, everything will wait until the boss wakes up tomorrow,” he said inwardly.
Robert left, and only the two were left in the room now.
Elizabeth touched her hot checks and hurriedly went into the bathroom to apply cold water to her face. She took a shower and came out to lie on the sofa in the room with her clothes on.
Andrew woke up earlier than Elizabeth thought. He woke up when the first ray of morning light slipped into the bedroom. He sat up, rubbing the corner of his forehead that was still hurting. His mind recalled what had happened last night. When he remembered that Elizabeth Hayes had hypnotized him, his face was seemingly covered with a thin layer of ice.
Before yesterday, he had sent someone to investigate Elizabeth, but the investigation results were relatively clean. Her mother died when she was nine years old, and she went missing while traveling abroad with her stepmother at age ten. She was only found by the Hayes family last month.
At first, he didn’t pay much attention. After all, it was expected not to find anything when someone had been missing for ten years and was abroad.
But now, it seemed that he was wrong.
His dark eyes were fierce. His sharp gaze swept through the room, and he quickly caught the curled–up silhouette on the
sofa.
Elizabeth slept soundly and knew nothing about Andrew’s approach.
He slowly stretched out his hand, aiming at Elizabeth’s neck.
Sleeping soundly, Elizabeth suddenly moved and murmured unconsciously, “Mom.”
Immediately, a crystal teardrop slipped from the corner of her eye.
Andrew’s hand paused.
“Mom, don’t go…” In her sleep, she shouted again and reached out to grab in the air.
Her petite and soft palm grabbed the big hand hanging in front of her. It was like a drowning person catching a life–saving

straw. She held the big hand tightly and dragged it to her cheek. She rubbed it and then pillowed it up contentedly. Her mouth still murmured, “Don’t go, don’t go…”
Andrew froze. He reflexively wanted to throw away Elizabeth’s hand and kick her far away.
But when his black eyes fell on the white face stained with tears, the tip of his heart seemed pinched.
“Forget it. Just consider it her payment for suppressing my second personality last night!” he thought.
He was a person who clearly distinguished between gratitude and grudges.
Elizabeth had a nightmare. She dreamed of her mother, whom she had not dreamed of for a long time, and it was when her mother died of a severe illness.
She would wake up crying in the past, but this time… when she was in the most desperate and painful time, someone seemed to have given her a hand. That hand was warm and dry, giving her a sense of security that she had not felt for a long time, making her feel at ease, and she fell asleep again.
However, who else in this world would give her comfort?
“Since you’re awake, quickly get up and wash up. Don’t play dead. Grandpa is still waiting for us to go down for breakfast.”
The cold voice destroyed the last trace of Elizabeth’s nostalgia for the dream.
She opened her eyes angrily and was about to speak. On second thought, she thought that she had to please Andrew and
stay.
She had to get up and wash up unwillingly. After that, she was dragged downstairs by the man holding onto her wrist.
“Liz, how’s your sleep?” At the dining table downstairs, Benjamin smiled brightly like a chrysanthemum with a face full of wrinkles. “Did you sleep well last night? It’s the first time for my brat. I hope he didn’t tire you out.”
“Ahem… Ahem, ahem…” Elizabeth, who initially intended to act cute and clever, was choked by the sentence from Mr. Hayes, coughing with a blushed face.
“Hurry up and pat your wife,” Mr. Hayes glared at Andrew with frustration, “You damn fool! You never know how to be considerate. Are you okay, Liz?”
Andrew calmly took his seat and said, “Fewer words of disrespect will be more effective than my patting.”
Only then did Mr. Hayes realize what he had said in a hurry. He touched his nose in embarrassment and laughed twice. “Then, quickly, quickly sit down and eat. You must be hungry after tossing around so late last night. Eat more to make up for it.”
Elizabeth was left speechless.
“Grandpa, do you actually want me to eat breakfast or not?” she wondered.
