Chapter 34
Chapter 34
Katherine was already wearing high heels, making it difficult to maintain balance, and with Andrew pushing her with great force, she fell in a miserable state.
As she rolled down from the top step to the bottom, she had multiple abrasions on her body.
Finally, the back of her head slammed hard onto the ground. The floor was covered in blood, and it looked shocking.
Katherine let out a painful cry, and finally, because she could not bear the immense pain, she passed out.
After all, it was Andrew’s push that caused this. In the spirit of humanitarianism, Andrew had the chauffeur take Katherine to the hospital and notify David and Kaida.
Katherine had injured her head and had a mild concussion, and the doctor was treating her in the ward.
Kaida anxiously ran around for her daughter while David waited outside the ward.
Andrew and Elizabeth were also sitting on the long bench in the corridor, waiting for the doctor’s results.
David turned his head and looked at Elizabeth a few times, but because Andrew was present, he did not dare to say anything harsh to her.
“Oh, by the way, Mr. Clarke, I have a small request for you. I don’t know what you think about it.”
Andrew leaned lazily on the bench, suddenly breaking the silence in the corridor. His voice was so abrupt that it startled David, who looked at Andrew with a bewildered gaze, unable to grasp the meaning behind Andrew’s words.
“What request?” David asked in a confused voice.
David was stunned, wondering if they had not already turned the page on what happened before.
“Isn’t he the one who caused Kathy to lie in the hospital bed now? So how can he still have the nerve to make a request?” thought David.
“Split the Clarke family’s estate in half and give it to Liz, and we’ll consider the matter of you threatening her closed.” Andrew said, patting the nonexistent dust off his suit, giving the impression that he was not making a request but talking about today’s weather.
“What? Give her half of the estate? Impossible!” Upon hearing this request, David suddenly stood up from his chair as if he had heard some absurd joke, his face red with fury.
Elizabeth was also looking at Andrew beside her in surprise, not expecting him to suddenly come up with this.
“She’s your daughter, and thanks to her mother’s father, the Clarke family is now rich. So it’s only fair that she receives half of the family estate. So, Mr. Clarke, what’s your reason for disagreeing?” Andrew sneered, having already delved deep into David’s mind.
“The estate did come from her mother’s father’s hands, that’s true. But how could the Clarke family have achieved its current status without my hard work and dedication? What qualifications does she, a young girl with no experience, have to claim my achievement as her own?” David spoke, his gaze toward Elizabeth filled with anger and disdain.
He hated it when people brought up his past of relying on his father–in–law to start his business. It was like a stain that haunted him, a constant reminder of where he had come from.
Over the years, he had built his accomplishments and distanced himself from that past. But Elizabeth’s presence always served as a reminder.
And now, being confronted so directly by someone much younger, it was impossible for him to stay calm.
Hearing those words and seeing the unfamiliar and unsettling emotions in David’s eyes, Elizabeth felt deeply disappointed.
Her heart had gone through ups and downs in just half a day, and now it plummeted into despair.
“Well then, let’s talk about this recording: threats and extortion. I wonder how the legal system would handle it,” Andrew teased, playing with his phone, knowing full well that everyone had listened to the recording. Every word Kaida spoke was enough to incriminate her in the eyes of the law.
“You, Andrew, don’t take it too far. Liz, will you just stand there and watch your husband bully your father?”
The legal team behind the Hayes family could not be underestimated. Even though Hayes Group had withdrawn from the wealthy circle, if they set their sights on someone, that person would have no chance of making a comeback.
He did not want to lose the property that he had worked so hard to obtain, nor did he want Kaida to suffer imprisonment, so he resorted to using his identity as her “father” to manipulate Elizabeth morally.
“Andrew is right. I am your daughter, the only granddaughter of my mother’s father, and a rightful heir to the Clarke family’s property. I deserve half of it, and there’s nothing wrong with that. If you don’t want Kaida to go to jail, you should sign over the Stock Ownership Transfer Agreement!”

Elizabeth clenched her fists, staring intently at David, her voice conveying unwavering determination that could not be ignored.
“Elizabeth! How dare you…”
From childhood to adulthood, Elizabeth was always suppressed and belittled by David. However, she never spoke up or responded in any way. So when David suddenly saw Elizabeth stand up to him with such determination, he was shocked. He was so angry that his face turned red and then pale, and he coughed heavily before passing out on his seat.
At that moment, Kaida rushed over after finishing her other business and saw David faint. She immediately called for at doctor and had him sent to the ward.
Witnessing such a chaotic and comical scene, Elizabeth’s expression was somewhat despondent.
She had long since given up hope for the family that had never brought her joy.
But hearing such words from her father, she still felt hurt. Though she had long cultivated a strong heart, no one could remain unaffected in a situation like this.
She did not want to have this feeling, but she could not help feeling sad and disappointed. Various complex emotions. entangled within her, leaving her at a loss for words to describe her current state of mind.
Andrew turned his face to the side, looking at Elizabeth beside him. A deep, dark glint flickered in his eyes, carrying a profound and secretive meaning.
Suddenly, he reached out his slender, fair hand and clasped Elizabeth’s delicate and petite palm, urging her to lift her head and forcing her to meet his gaze.
As their eyes locked, Andrew’s domineering, controlling, yet strangely soothing voice echoed in Elizabeth’s ears.
“Elizabeth, listen to me carefully. I will do everything in my power to help you regain what’s rightfully yours! You don’t need to care about anyone else’s opinions, understood?”
Upon hearing these words, a subtle gleam flashed in Elizabeth’s eyes. She felt that something that had long been dormant in her heart was gradually awakening again.
She paused for a moment, then nodded under Andrew’s gaze.
“That’s right. Follow me, and I’ll have your back from now on.”
Elizabeth’s attitude inexplicably lifted Andrew’s mood. He curved his attractive lips, and even his usually somber expression showed signs of relaxation.
After experiencing so much, Elizabeth had no intention of staying at the hospital any longer, so she followed Andrew into
the car.
The chauffeur first dropped Elizabeth off at the villa and then drove Andrew to the company, marking the end of today’s
drama.
The tranquility on their side contrasted sharply with the frantic atmosphere at the hospital at that moment.
Upon waking up, Katherine discovered multiple injuries on her body, making her too ashamed to face anyone.
But that was not the worst part. What struck her the most was that half of the Clarke family’s property was being forcibly divided and given to Elizabeth.

“Mom! How dare that bitch think she can snatch away my inheritance? What makes her worthy? I won’t allow it!”
Katherine sat on the hospital bed, her head bandaged, but her emotions were so agitated and her voice so sharp that she did not seem like a patient.
“Andrew threatened your father. He said if he didn’t give half of the estate to her, she would sue me with lawyers. Your father couldn’t bear to see me go to jail, so he had no choice but to agree!”
Kaida’s well–maintained face bore a malicious hatred. After all these years, she had kept Elizabeth under her foot, and now suddenly, Elizabeth had turned the tables. Kaida could not accept this fact.
“So, are we just going to compromise like this?” Katherine asked bitterly.
If not for her current inconvenience, she would want to rush to Elizabeth and teach her a lesson.
“No, that little bitch will never get a penny from our family. Mom, you need to think of a way to make her give up this idea,” Katherine cried and got angry again, then leaned against Kaida for comfort and sought her maternal love.
“I’ll find a way. You rest well, and don’t let this anger ruin your health.”
Kaida tenderly patted her daughter’s back, determined to have another talk with Elizabeth and resolve the current predicament.
So, Kaida deliberately chose the busiest time and made a phone call to Elizabeth.
Kaida estimated that Andrew would still be handling matters at the office. With no one to support Elizabeth, as long as Kaida brought up Elizabeth’s mother again, Elizabeth would surely say yes to Kaida’s request.
“Hello, what’s the matter?”
Elizabeth received the call while she was in Andrew’s office because Benjamin had a chef prepare a nourishing soup and insisted that Elizabeth personally deliver it to Andrew. She did not want to disappoint Benjamin, so she reluctantly agreed.
“Elizabeth, do you still want to know about your mother?”
“Didn’t you say last time that it was something you made up on a whim?”
She furrowed her brow, unable to distinguish which words from Kaida were true and which were false.
“That’s because I wanted to keep it as a bargaining chip for future conversations with you. That’s why I lied to you.” Kaida’s frustrated voice came through the phone.
Kaida could have used this to deceive Elizabeth into getting a divorce, and when Elizabeth was no longer valuable, Kaida. could kick her out without hesitation.
But things did not go as planned, and now she could only resort to using it to solve the current crisis.
It was a classic case of holding a winning hand and playing it poorly.
“So, what’s your condition?” Elizabeth said, placing the thermos with soup on Andrew’s desk and sitting on the sofa opposite Andrew under his inquisitive gaze.
“As long as you agree to give up half of the estate, I will send your mother’s specific location to your phone.”
This time, Kaida had no mood for idle talks with Elizabeth. Instead, she straightforwardly presented her conditions and demands.
A flicker of hesitation passed through Elizabeth’s eyes upon hearing her firm tone.
There had been no progress regarding finding her mother, and she had not seen her mother in many years.
The Clarke family’s inheritance could be dealt with in other ways later.
Half of it would not satisfy her anyway. After all, it was the empire that her mother’s father had painstakingly built, and it was only fair to reclaim it in its entirety.
“So, should I temporarily agree to her terms, see what tricks she wanted to play, and then play it by car?” thought Elizabeth.
As Elizabeth hesitated, Andrew suddenly snatched the phone from her hand and hung up.
“What are you doing?”
Elizabeth looked at Andrew, her face filled with confusion, not understanding what he intended to do.
“If I hadn’t hung up a second quicker, would you have fallen for her stupid tricks again?”
Andrew looked down at her with disdain, as if he wanted to pry open her stupid head and see if it was filled with useless garbage.
“But she said she has information about my mother. So although my rationality tells me I shouldn’t fall for her tricks again,
