“Andrew, it’s not what you think. As you know, Kathy was originally supposed to marry into your family. But Liz forcefully. took over and claimed the marriage for herself. Now Kathy has been feeling down, not eating or drinking properly, and she has lost a lot of weight in such a short time. So, we just wanted to call Liz back to discuss and see if we can work this out.” David spoke up. His words were sincere but possibly tinged with guilt. His gaze did not linger on Elizabeth for even a 

moment. 

Upon hearing David’s twisted words, Elizabeth felt as if a bucket of icy water was ruthlessly poured over her head, sending a chilling sensation through her entire being 

Andrew noticed that Elizabeth, who was in his arms, seemed very sad. A glint of sinister intent flashed in his dark eyes, and he decided never to let them get away with it. 

He curved his beautiful lips, looking at the trio across from him with a face full of mockery as if listening to a ridiculous. joke. 

“You have the audacity to lie with your eyes wide open!” he sneered, taking out his phone and opening the recording that Robert had sent him. 

It was the audio recording of Kaida’s recent threatening phone call to Elizabeth. 

In the recording, Kaida’s malicious tone and Elizabeth’s trembling voice due to worry echoed clearly throughout the hall. The stark contrast between the two made it clear who the victim was. 

“Is this the way you discuss things with my wife? Threatening her with her mother’s life? In your eyes, is a human life so cheap?” As Andrew spoke, he suddenly raised his voice, carrying a sense of oppression and an overwhelming aura that made the faces of the three people pale. 

“I’m sorry, Andrew. I was just too worried about my daughter. I didn’t think it through when I was talking on the phone. It wasn’t my 

intention,” Kaida hurriedly explained, lowering her posture, attempting to ease Andrew’s anger with this approach. 

“Shut up! If you enjoy acting so much, you should be in the entertainment industry. What a waste!” 

Andrew’s cold gaze swept over Kaida. Kaida’s face turned pale, then red, and even though she had so many life experiences before, she trembled under the imposing presence of Andrew. 

Elizabeth had been in Andrew’s embrace all this time, witnessing how his few words completely disrupted David and Kaida’s composure. Within her heart, it felt like a tremendous wave of warmth had been injected, gradually bringing warmth back. to her previously cold body. 

With Andrew’s sharp rebuke, Kaida immediately lowered her head and stood behind David, no longer daring to speak. 

David caught a glimpse of his wife’s aggrieved look, a tinge of heartache flickering in his eyes. However, Andrew’s dominance left him helpless. 

David opened his mouth and hesitated momentarily, wanting to say something to defend himself and his wife, but nothing came out. After all, he was the one who had been in the wrong from the beginning. 

“So, should we now calculate the debt you owe for threatening my wife?” Andrew changed the topic, unable to bear seeing anyone mistreat his loved one. He was determined to set things right. 

“Andrew, what do you want us to do?” David reluctantly spoke. 

They were currently at a disadvantage, very passive, unable to resist, and could only let Andrew make demands. 

“Apologize to my wife and promise never to humiliate her again!” Each word fell deliberately from his lips. 

Hearing him keep referring to her as “my wife,” Elizabeth could not help but think that maybe being Andrew’s wife was wonderful. She could not believe she would have this thought. 

“Liz, I’m sorry, we lost our minds for a moment. I’m really sorry.” Upon hearing this, Kaida quickly softened her approach. and apologized. 

The regrer on Kaida’s face was as evident as the hatred in her heart toward Elizabeth, wishing she could tear her apart and make her suffer. 

However, Kaida dared not unleash her anger at that moment. Instead, she could only swallow her pride and suppress her fury as she lowered her head in deference to Elizabeth. 

“Liz, I know I was wrong. I apologize and promise never to treat you like that again!” David quickly followed with an apology to Elizabeth, his attitude especially sincere. 

Upon hearing this, Elizabeth felt a sense of irony and amusement. Her amber eyes flickered slightly, forcing back the tears that were about to spill. Finally, she raised her head, composed her emotions, and when she lowered her gaze to meet David’s eyes again, her usual icy demeanor had returned. 

“Apologies are unnecessary. I just want to know where my mother is.”

Elizabeth wanted to know if Kaida’s so–called threat was a spur–of–the–moment decision or if she did have any information. about her mother. If Kaida truly had news of her mother, then she must know where her mother was. She could not let this opportunity slip through her fingers 

“I’m sorry, Liz. That was all made up by me to make you agree to a divorce,” apologized Kaida again, and with one sentence, she completely extinguished the hope that had barely ignited in Elizabeth’s heart. 

Elizabeth’s eyes, which had brightened, turned dark again, and she turned her head to look at Andrew. “Thank you. Let’s go back.” 

Since she could not get any information about her mother here, there was no need to stay any longer. 

Hearing this, Andrew tightened his arm around Elizabeth and turned to walk outside. 

He supported her and helped her maintain her dignity throughout the entire process, leaving her feeling deeply moved. 

Katherine, who had been silent on the side, felt her heart fluiter more and more when she saw Andrew’s arrogant and domineering manner. 

Such a handsome and overbearing man should have been hers. She could not understand why he would be so blind and fancy Elizabeth. 

Thinking of Elizabeth’s bland appearance and her bright face and curvy figure that attracted everyone’s attention, she felt so upset. 

As Andrew’s figure was about to leave her sight, she hurriedly caught up with him. 

“Andrew, Andrew, wait a moment,” she called out, running to catch up with him, her smile brimming with enthusiasm. 

By that moment, Elizabeth had already taken a seat in the car while Andrew remained on the steps of the yard. When Katherine suddenly approached him, he could not hide the flicker of disgust in his eyes. 

He bypassed Katherine and continued walking without any intention of acknowledging her. 

However, Katherine’s overconfidence led her to believe that her looks alone deserved special treatment from Andrew. After all, no man could completely ignore a beautiful woman. Throughout her life, she had never encountered a man indifferent to her charms. On the contrary, every man was eager to court her, to please her, and no matter what mistakes she made, they would forgive her. Thus, she believed that Andrew would surely play up to her too. 

So, she shamelessly pressed closer and even reached out to grab his suit. 

“Andrew, I came here to apologize to my sister for my parents. Can’t you just stop for a moment and listen to me?” she pleaded, holding onto his suit. 

As she grasped his suit, she accentuated her alluring figure, trying to fall into his embrace, but her attempt to slip into Andrew’s embrace was met with his uncontrolled aversion and disgust. 

His already unpleasant expression grew even colder, and just as Katherine was about to fall into his arms, he forcefully pushed her away. 

Caught off guard, Katherine stumbled backward, taking a few steps back, and then tumbled down the steps in the yard.
