Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 334

Everett's brows knitted together, his handsome face adopting a cool detachment, "What's the issue this time?"

Derick immediately softened his tone, "It's not the missus... it's about her uncle..."

Just then, the phone on the desk buzzed to life. Everett glanced at the screen-it was the doctor from the apartment calling. He motioned for Derick to zip it while he answered the call.

"Mr. Everett, Ms. Margot has locked herself in the bathroom and refuses to come out. We're worried she might be in a bad place again. You might need to come back..." "Got it. Keep an eye on her. I'm on my way!"

Everett hung up, threw on his suit jacket, grabbed his keys, and headed out with purpose.

Derick, caught off guard by the sudden urgency, rushed after him, "Hey, Mr. Everett, about the missus..."

Everett impatiently jabbed the elevator button, cutting him off, "I told you, her issues are none of my business! If you can't get that, maybe you should consider resigning!" What could possibly be so urgent with Selena? It was always the same old drama about her uncle.

As the elevator doors slid open, he stepped in without a backward glance.

Derick stood there, helpless, watching the elevator doors close and descend.

Selena stood by the roadside, reading Derick's message, and felt a wave of dizziness. This time, Everett wouldn't even give her the time of day, let alone listen.

Her eyes stung and reddened, but she took a deep breath, swallowing her pain. This wasn't the time for a pity party-time was ticking.

Moon Bay the wedding house her grandfather gifted them, had both her and Everett's names on it. If she took the deed to the bank, maybe she could secure a loan...

She didn't want to resort to this, but once things were sorted, she planned to get the deed back.

While flagging down a taxi, she called Ava to grab the deed, her personal seal, and her stash of jewelry from the safe and meet her at the bank.

Just then, a black car barreled over the curb onto the sidewalk, racing straight toward Selena.

Before she could react, she was thrown to the ground.

Lying in a pool of blood, Selena's eyes widened in disbelief.

The driver got out, looking down at her with a chilling smile.

"Selena, don't blame me. I'm just doing my job. Someone paid big bucks, saying if Margot's child is gone, yours has to go too!"

"In the afterlife, debts find their owners, don't come after me!"

The driver sped off, leaving a crowd gathering, filled with screams and chaos. In the distance, Ava's frantic voice crackled through her phone, "Madam, madam, what's happening? Madam..."

Selena was surrounded by too many voices, her phone lay just out of reach. She couldn't lift her arm, not even a finger.

Desperately, she tried to respond to Ava, her lips moved uselessly, words trapped in her throat.

She strained with all her might to call out: Save me, save my child...

But nothing came out.

A black Cullinan pulled out from Bennett Corporation's underground garage and as it approached the intersection, Everett caught sight of a crowd gathered at the company's entrance.
