Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 335

It looked like there had been a car accident, someone had been hit. Everett's dark eyes scanned the scene, but the crowd was so thick, forming a human wall, making it impossible to see the injured person or what was happening inside. For some reason, a heaviness

settled in his chest. As the light turned green, Everett snapped back to reality, hit the gas, and sped away.

An ambulance pulled up, and paramedics carefully attended to Selena, placing her on a stretcher and loading her into the vehicle. Being pregnant and seemingly on the brink of labor, they had to handle her with extra care. Luckily, they found her phone and called her most recent contact to get the details before rushing her to Heartfelt Hospital.

Callum had been up all night, just wrapping up work and heading back to his office for a quick rest when the news about Selena hit him. He jumped to his feet and bolted towards the surgery room. Normally composed and courteous, Callum was now in a frenzy, almost stumbling as he ran.

When he got there, Selena was drenched in blood, barely hanging on as doctors and nurses wheeled her towards the operating room.

"Selena!" Callum rushed to her side, his voice cracking with emotion. "How is she?"

Dr. Carrillo had already assessed Selena, his face tense, brows knitted tightly. "Mr. Thompson, sticking to the original delivery plan gives us a fifty-fifty chance, but now... I can't be sure," he said, his voice heavy with concern. "We need to decide quickly, for the mother and the baby."

A nurse handed Callum a consent form. Selena, while still conscious earlier, had authorized Dr. Campbell to sign for her if things took a turn. Callum stared at the form, paralyzed, unable to make the decision.

Despite his experience as a doctor, familiar with life and death, he found himself shaking uncontrollably, his mind a blank slate.

In her daze, Selena could hear their voices, like a lone piece of driftwood in a vast sea. Drawing on some hidden reserve of strength, she.

managed to open her eyes, blurry as they were, to make out Callum's

outline.

With all she had, she gripped Callum's hand, "Dr. Campbell, save my... baby, you have to... save my baby..."

Callum's eyes turned red with emotion, "But, you..."

"You promised, you promised me before, I want the baby, the baby..." Selena held his hand tightly, her blood staining his skin, while his tears flowed freely.

He looked at her through tear-filled eyes, at her pale, determined face, his voice barely a whisper. "I promise you."

With trembling hands, he signed

the

consent form, then turned away sharply, unable to face her, each worda struggle as he spoke Dr. Carrillo, save the baby."

Selena was once again in that familiar nightmare. Lost in a fog, but this time, as she reached out, she was holding her baby. A tiny, adorable bundle, grinning at her with pure joy. Selena's heart melted showering her baby with affection. But in the next moment, the baby whispered, "Mommy, goodbye, goodbye..."
