Chapter Chapter Twenty One
Tyler and Asher headed to the police station. Asher wanted to deck his brother but Tyler wanted to check on Diesel to see what the hell was wrong with him. As they walked into the station the same female officer approached. "What?" She barked at them. "How is my brother?" Tyler asked.
The female officer shook her head. "You should be more concerned with your sister with the threats he continues to spew. We are adding drunk and disorderly to his charges. As for Tyler, if I had my way, you would lose your badge. If what he is saying is true, it's not the first time you have got him out of trouble for harming your sister" the officer spat causing Tyler to shrink back and Asher to glare at Tyler. "As for your brother, he will be in front of a magistrate this morning but we will be pushing for remand and have the threats recorded on body cam" the officer added before walking back to her desk.
Asher stormed out of the station towards his car with Tyler right behind him. "Asher it was once and he was a kid. Wait Asher stop" Tyler called out causing Asher to swing around. "One time too many Tyler, you heard what he was saying in the police wagon? He is fucked in the head just like our father. He wants to continue to hurt her, has she not been through enough? Wait up, he has something over you? He saw you hurt Macey too? God this is fucked up. She was a kid. Don't you get it? I did some fucked up shit by ignoring the verbal abuse and neglecting her, but you guys, you guys physically hurt your sister, a female, something you vowed to prevent when you got your badge" Asher fumed out.
Asher was breathing heavily now. "You know the worst part? Mum knew this would happen. That letter from her that Dad kept from us, she warned me, she begged me in that letter to keep Macey safe. She knew you and Diesel would follow that man and told me. If I had got that letter when I was 18 as I should have, none of this would have happened. My sister wouldn't be running cause I saw the look in her eyes tonight. She is going to run again, it's the same look I saw in her eyes just before her 16th birthday. My sister would have had a happy childhood if I had got her out, FUCK" Asher screamed out before kicking his car.
"Asher calm down, we can't change what has happened" Tyler tried to reason with his eldest brother. "Would you change what you did Tyler? Would you change the fact you hurt our sister so our dad liked you?" Asher asked. Tyler wanted to say yes but he really couldn't. He always wanted to make his dad proud and hurting Macey had made them closer. "That's what I thought. I will be moving out and I want nothing to do with you or Diesel. I will drop you at the station" Asher said resigning himself to the fact that neither of his brothers saw anything wrong with what they had all done to Macey.
"Asher you don't mean that" Tyler tried to reason with his brother. "I do Tyler, I really do. You are just as fucked up as them. If Macey wasn't our sister and you heard what was happening, you would do everything in your power to help her. Because she is our sister you are blinded by the words our father drummed into you. It's pathetic Tyler, you and Diesel are pathetic. And for the record the family home is Macey's it was left to her by mum so stay away from it or I will file a complaint, with that officer as backup, of what you have done" Asher stated pointing to the female officer who had come out hearing the disturbance happening.
Tyler got pale, his job was now on the line. The officer clearly heard everything and he saw her wearing the body cam and the light was on which meant things had been recorded. Tyler nodded his head, he knew what he did was wrong deep down but he still had this feeling of power like his father had described to him when he hurt Macey. Yet he would feel guilty for doing it.
Both brothers got in the car without speaking. Asher headed to the station to drop his brother off. He felt a weight lifted off his shoulders finally after he said what he needed to. "Asher, I do feel guilty for what I did to Macey. Even after doing it, I felt guilty but Dad was always so proud of me. I don't regret my time with Dad but I regret that the only way he would notice me was when he had me hurting Macey" Tyler stated just as they pulled up to the station.
Asher was quiet for a bit, he knew his father had manipulated Tyler but the point was even if Tyler could change the past he said he wouldn't. "Tyler, dad manipulated you. What you did was so bloody wrong on so many levels. Don't you see that? Hurting a woman is about power, but what true power comes from fear? All you did was make your baby sister fear you and that's not power that's abuse" Asher replied.
Tyler was shocked, he never thought of it that way. "I'm sorry Asher" Tyler whispered out. "It's not me you need to apologise to. Can you truly say that you are sorry to Macey for destroying her childhood to the point she had to flee her own home, which she actually owns, to feel safe?" Asher asked his brother. Tyler looked at his brother but stayed quiet, he saw the disappointment in his brother's eyes. "I will be home in a few days and I want you gone. Take Diesel's stuff with you" Asher stated before turning to face the windscreen. Asher wanted nothing to do with his brothers at all, he was disgusted with the people they were.
