Finding Emery

Emery made it back to the shed and grabbed Nix. She usually left her in the shed while she went to wait for her daddy but today she was going to take her because Nix had spent enough time alone. Emery made her way to the area her father last was and sat under the tree. "Nix, I can feel it. Today daddy is coming back for us" Emery whispered to her teddy. She didn't know how long it had been because she lost count of how many sleeps it had been since daddy left her, but she knew it was a long time.

"At least today I didn't have to steal the food we eat" Emery told Nix. Usually she would head to one of the shops and take some food to eat because otherwise she wouldn't get to eat. She had no money but her mummy had showed her how to take things before she was taken by the police.

Michael and Jasper were in one car driving around looking out for Emery while Taz, Chase and Seb were in the other looking as well. They could cover more area if they split up. "Why don't we check around the shed where we found her the first time? There might be some clues about where she has been staying" Jasper asked. Michael nodded his head and headed towards the shed.

Michael and Jasper looked around the outside and couldn't find anything. "I'm going to look inside" Jasper stated, he wanted to know where the hell his cousin had got to. She was six for Christ sake and no one in their gang could find her at all. She could not just disappear into thin air.

Jasper kicked the door down of the shed and immediately saw a small blanket set up on the floor in the corner surrounded by a few clothes. "Dad" Jasper called out. Michael raced inside the shed expecting to see Emery but was disappointed when he didn't find her. "What?" Michael snapped out. "Look, is that her things?" Jasper asked.

Michael and Jasper looked through the things that were on the floor and found the two bags that were hidden. Michael grabbed the black bag opening it and finding all his brothers papers. "She has been here the entire time" Michael whispered.

It had started to get dark and Emery knew she had to get back to the shed. She was sad because she really thought her daddy was coming back for her today. For some reason she had a feeling today she would be found. She was sad and scared because she was so alone. It was also coming into winter again and she hated how cold it got even when she was in the shed. Her clothes were not very warm and some were just to small. She did use her daddies clothes to keep warm too but it wasn't enough. As she was crawling through the little hole in the wall Emery was whispering to Nix.

Both Michael and Jasper heard "Nix, why didn't daddy come today? Does he not want me anymore?" They whipped around to the little hole where Emery was crawling through to get back into the shed. Emery looked up and saw two men looking at her. They looked a little familiar but she didn't know from where. She cocked her head to the side studying the men for a few seconds before one stepped towards her.

Jasper and Michael froze seeing Emery crawling into the shed. Michael couldn't believe it, he finally found his niece and took a step towards the little girl. This seemed to snap Emery out of her shock because she started to crawl backwards. She knew she would have to run so that these people didn't catch her. She remembered they were there when the man fell on her last night with blood and didn't want to be hurt again.

"Emery" Jasper called out when she started to move backwards. That only made her move faster. Michael snapped out of his thoughts and took off out the door while Jasper was trying to move things to get into the hole Emery had come through. "Emery" Michael called out trying to get to his niece but the minute she was out of the hole she took off running.

Emery didn't get very far before Michael took hold of her pulling her into his embrace while she screamed like her life depended on it and to her it did. These could be the bad men that her and her daddy had been running from and now they had caught her. Jasper came running when he heard the little girl screaming to see her fighting to get out of his fathers embrace.

Michael was holding onto his niece while she fought. "Shhh Emery, it's ok you are safe shhh" Michael whispered trying to comfort his niece but she continued to scream and fight until she passed out in Michael's arms. "What the hell dad?" Jasper asked seeing the little girl go limp in his fathers arms. "She is in shock. Grab hers and Marcus' things and let's get her home" Michael stated walking towards his car. He wouldn't let this little girl out of his site again.

Jasper grabbed the teddy bear that Emery had dropped and packed both the bags with everything he could find in the shed. He also text Seb, Taz and Chase letting them know they found Emery and to meet them at home.

Jasper jumped in for he drivers seat after dumping the bags in the boot and headed towards the house. He glanced at his dad who held Emery in his arms watching her like she was the most precious jewel in the world. Michael couldn't keep his eyes off Emery, she looked exactly like the photo which Marcus sent him of her 4th birthday.

As Jasper and Michael pulled into the drive way, Taz, Chase and Seb were waiting. They couldn't wait to see Emery again. As the car came to a stop Taz ripped open the door wanting to be the first to hold Emery. He saw her out cold in his uncle's arms. Michael stepped out of the car holding Emery. "What's happened to her?" Taz asked. "She passed out, get the doctor here and I'll take her to her room" Michael calmly responded. He felt anything but calm. He too was worried that Emery had passed out when he had grabbed her.
