Finding Emery

Emery had stayed with Kody while one of the other men cleaned him up. She refused to leave him until she knew he would be ok even though he had told her he was fine. The Quake men had insisted she go with them while they dressed and headed down to breakfast but she wasn't having it. She also refused the offer of a bath or shower.

When Kody was cleaned up Emery stayed with him and headed into to the dining room so they could eat breakfast. Kody tried to just drop her and leave as the dining room was for the Quake's only, but Emery insisted he stayed or she went with him. Taz, Chase, Jasper and Seb were all a little jealous of Kody. So was uncle Mike but he just glared at Kody.

"Emmy come sit with me" Chase called to her wanting to have some time with his sister. Emery just shook her head and glared at the food that uncle Mike had put in front of her. She wasn't really hungry at all. "Emmy, you need to eat something" Uncle Mike encouraged her to eat when she made no move to start, but she continued to glare at the food and not eat.

Emery was trying to wish the food away. She really didn't feel like eating and couldn't really tell what was put in front of her. "Do you know what that is princess?" Seb asked. Emery shook her head no. Is was yellow with bits of pink stuff in it but she hadn't had anything thing like that in, well forever that she remembered. "It's your favourite, bacon omelette" Uncle Mike explained.

When Emery was living with them that was all she would eat for breakfast as long as there was no cheese or green spots as she called them in it. Uncle Mike had made it hoping she would remember and at least eat some but clearly she didn't. "Ooooo, what's omelette?" Emery enquired while poking the omelette with her finger. "It's like scrambled eggs" Taz replied.

Emery just nodded her head but she really didn't remember what that was either. She was use to getting fruit or muesli bars from the store. Sometimes she would have a muffin or even a roll with meat in it but not eggs. "Princess, if you try it I'm sure that Kody could come with us while we go shopping. I saw your clothes and you need to get some new ones" Jasper stated.

Emery frowned, she hated stealing and had no money for new clothes. She looked at Jasper with watery eyes and tried to tell him without saying it, that she couldn't afford clothes. "Hey hey, why are you sad sweetheart?" Uncle Mike asked. Emery just shook her head as she didn't want to say it out loud. "Come on hunny, how can we help if you don't talk to us?" Chase said trying to coax Emery to open up.

Emery took a deep breath and looked at the omelette again. "I don't have money and I don't like to steal unless I have to. My clothes can last a lot more sleeps" Emery mumbled. Kody heard her and frowned at the little girl. He felt really sorry for her and the fact she had basically lived on the streets for the last two years all because her mother made a bad choice. No one else had heard what Emery said and looked towards Kody. When Kody looked up, he realised that they didn't hear Emery. "Hey Princess Emery, can I tell them what you said?" Kody asked. Emery shied away a little but nodded her head once.

Kody took a hold of Emery's hand offering the little girl comfort. This in turn, caused the Quake men to glare at him even more. Kody cleared his throat before saying "she said she didn't have the money and that her clothes would last a lot more sleeps" Kody stated while looking to Emery who was trying to disappear into the back of the chair.

"Right, listen here cheeky monkey. You are going to have at least 10 bites of that omelette and then either Taz or Chase can help you shower and wash your hair. They will help you with your hair so your curls are nice and bouncy. Once they have done that we are going to get you some clothes. And before you say you have no money, that's my job Emery. My job is to take care of you" uncle Mike explained.

Emery shook her head no, that was a husbands job or a daddies job and uncle Mike was neither of those things. "You are not my husband or my daddy and that's what they are suppose to do" Emery mumbled. "Oh baby, when daddy died that job went to all of us here" Seb tried to explain. "So that means Kody can do it before we marry. I don't want babies so he can't see me with no clothes on" Emery rambled out.

Everyone tried not to laugh at the little girl and the way her mind worked. "Emery, Kody is not going to help you bathe. He is your friend" Uncle Mike explained. "I'm not big enough to marry" Emery confirmed. "That's right" Jasper cheered out thankful that she was somewhat understanding that males shouldn't be seeing her without clothes on. Yes he was paranoid but he wanted to protect the little girl as much as he could.

"Then why can you all see me without clothes and I not get babies?" Asked Emery. Her daddy had told her then men and women have no clothes on and then they make babies. "Emery do you know were babies come from?" Taz asked cautiously. Emery nodded her head yes cause her daddy told her when she asked cause Sasha's mummy had a baby in her tummy after Sasha saw her and her daddy without clothes on together. "Do you need me to tell you?" Emery enquired.

When Uncle Mike nodded his head because he wanted to see what she knew she began. "Well mummies and daddies get naked and see each other. Then the mummy gets a baby in her tummy. Sasha saw her mummy and daddy without clothes and then she had a baby so I asked daddy and daddy said I can't see boys naked cause I'm to young. So I have to make sure no boys see me without clothes until I want babies and I don't want babies at the moment cause I don't want to see a boy without clothes. Boys have a penis and girls have a magina" Emery rambled before Jasper placed his hands over Emery's mouth. Emery licked Jasper's hand causing him to pull it away from her mouth immediately and then she smirked at him.
