Finding Emery

Chapter 14

Emery refused to let go of Uncle Mike at all. She held him tightly while they drove home. Kody was in the front with Jasper driving and both were worried about Emery. She refused to talk or open her eyes at all. It was like she was frozen in fear which upset all of the men in the car.

Taz, Chase and Seb had sped back home to wait for Emery to return. They were angry at Emery for taking off, but were relieved she was found safe according to Jasper. They stood on the front steps waiting for the return. As the car pulled up Jasper jumped out of the drivers seat along with Kody. Uncle Mike tried to move but Emery screamed. Getting out of the car was going to be tricky.

"Why is she screaming?" Chase asked. He was worried as he couldn't see in the car with the tinted windows. Uncle Mike grabbed Emery while she was screaming and Kody opened the door so he could get out of the car and move inside where it was light. Emery clung to her uncle and Nix. "I don't like it Nix, the shadows got me" Emery screamed.

"Shh Emmy baby, it's uncle Mike we are going into the light now" uncle Mike called out over her screaming and quickly made his way into the living room. "Close the curtains" Michael ordered so no shadows could be seen at all. Once the curtains were closed and the lights on, uncle Mike sat on the couch with Emery still holding on for dear life. "Emmy open those eyes for me. The lights are on, there are no shadows" Uncle Mike cooed at the little girl. Emery shook her head no, he had said that at the shed and there was shadows.

Chase, Taz and Seb were shocked to see how scared Emery looked. She was literally shaking like a leaf. They were over their anger quickly and were worried for Emery. "What's going on?" Chase asked Jasper. "She is scared of the dark and the shadows" Jasper responded but this was more then just a little scared, this looked to be a genuine fear of the dark.

Taz walked over to his uncle who was trying to comfort Emery. "Emmy, it's not dark now. Please Hunny open your eyes. We need to make sure you are ok" Taz whispered to the little girl. Emery shook her head no, she was so scared. "Tazzy the shadows" Emery whimpered, she didn't know how she knew Taz was talking but she just did. Taz smiled a sad smile, Emery had always been scared of the dark even when she stayed with them while their dad was in rehab. Emery had always slept with him because he had put fairy lights in his room and that had comforted her.

"Emery hunny, I promise the lights are on just like when you were little. The fairy lights are still in my room to catch the shadows. You are safe here and I'll protect you" Taz assured her. Emery had fairy lights when she was with daddy before they had to run. She remembered her daddy put them in her room and his and also the living room because she had to be protected.

"Tazzy, I'm scared. I want daddy to come back" Emery wailed letting go of her uncle Mike. Taz wasted no time pulling her into his arms. "I know Hunny but he can't. He really wanted to but he knew he had to keep you safe and you are safe here with us Emmy" Taz stated while slowly rubbing Emery's back.

It took close to 10 minutes for Emery to calm down. She cried her eyes out for her daddy and not feeling safe anywhere anymore. She had opened her eyes and let the shadows in to the shed so it was no longer safe there. She had no where to go at all. "Emery Quake, this is your home now and you are safe here. You have us all to stop the shadows" Jasper stated after hearing her mumbling about not being safe anymore at the shed.

Emery slightly opened her eyes to peak into the house. She didn't know she had said what she was thinking out loud, but someone had said she was safe here and protected. When she opened her eyes it was light in the house and that was because the lights were on. Taz smiled at his sister as he watched her cautiously opening her eyes and looking around the room. There was no shadows just people watching her. Emery waved to every one before slamming her face into Taz's chest. She was embarrassed and also scared she was going to be in trouble because she didn't follow the rules while playing hide and seek.

"You feeling better now?" Taz whispered to Emery. She wasn't scared now cause it was light but she was worried about being in trouble. Emery shook her head no. "Tell me what's wrong Emmy and I will fix it" Taz assured the little girl. "I left the yard" Emery muttered. She always hated being in trouble even when she was younger. Taz smiled when he heard what Emery said and looked up at Jasper and uncle Mike who were both watching Emery ready to jump in and save the little girl from whatever she was worrying about.

"Emmy, have a look at Jasper and uncle Mike" Taz replied. No one had heard Emery mumbling except for Taz, all the had seen is her shake her head no to feeling better. Emery again shook her head no, she didn't want to be in trouble at all. She had gone to the shed to feel safe even if she knew she was breaking rules. Feeling safe ,to her was more important, because she hadn't really felt safe since her daddy was gone. "They aren't mad Emery, they are just worried about you hunny" Taz stated.

Emery slowly looked to the side where she assumed Jasper and Uncle Mike were. Both looked to be scared but relaxed a little when they saw her face. "Are you ok baby?" Uncle Mike asked. Emery shrugged her shoulders, she wasn't ok at all. In a few hours she had lost everything including her daddy whom she thought would come back for her. She also lost her she which was the only home she knew since she had been on her own because she let the shadows in.
