Finding Bailey

Chapter 27

It was a long night for Bailey and Nelson. Everyone else had been kicked out at 10pm because that was hospital policy. Bailey wouldn't settle at all after everyone left, not even with Nelson laying next to her. She didn't like the hospital and the nurse coming in to check on her through the night. She didn't really sleep at all because she was on high alert. Nelson had walked the hallways with her so she didn't scream the place down. At 6am the doctor finally cleared her to leave the hospital due to the stress being in hospital was having on the little girl.

Nelson had packed everything quickly while Bailey screamed blue murder. Nelson had had to put her in the cot and she was not happy at all. Luke had tried to comfort her but almost got hit with the cast when he went near her. Bailey was tired and felt unsafe which she hadn't done since coming into the care of her brothers. Nelson had called Brax asking him to pick them up immediately.

Nelson grabbed everything and picked Bailey back up. Bailey held onto her dada tightly. She didn't want him to put her down at all. She just wanted to go home. "Ome" Bailey whispered to Nelson once they started walking out of the hospital. Nelson smiled sadly at Bailey, "yes princess we are going home" Nelson replied juggling everything in his arms.

When Nelson got to the front of the hospital Brax was just pulling up. Brax jumped out to help his father reaching to take Bailey who let out a blood curdling scream again. "Hey princess Brax was just going to put you in your seat so we can go home" Nelson told Bailey but she was shaking her head no.

Brax was hurt that his sister had reacted that way. He could see how exhausted his father was and then when he looked at Bailey she too looked like she hadn't slept. Bailey had never said no to any of her brothers when they went to hold her. Nelson sighed, and rang into his work taking the week off knowing he would need to be there for Bailey. "Bailey here hasn't slept through the night and wants to go home" Nelson told Brax who nodded in understanding. "Ome" Bailey stated causing Brax to stop and look at his sister. "Yeh sweetheart I'm taking us all home" Brax stated while smiling at Bailey who nodded her head.

Nelson had tried to get Bailey in her seat but the minute she was out of his arms she was screaming. Nelson sat next to the seat so Bailey could still see him and held her hand. Brax drove them home quickly so Bailey could calm down. He had never seen her like this at all. Nelson knew this was because she was unsure of the hospital and assumed that the nurse had scared her. He hoped that seeing everyone at home would reassure her she was safe with them.

As Brax pulled up at the house, Bodie and Blair were waiting along with Harry. They all wanted to see if Bailey was ok. Bailey was still screaming in the back which the others all heard as the car pulled up. Nelson grabbed Bailey out of the seat and held her to his chest. Bailey took some deep breaths, her throat was sore from all the crying and screaming. She looked up at Nelson with her sad eyes and he wanted nothing more then to make it all better for her.

"Here dad I'll take her" Bodie stated seeing how exhausted Nelson looked. Brax quickly spoke "don't try to take her, she will lose it again. I'll make a bottle. Maybe we should set the lounge room up for her to sleep with dad in. She seems more relax when she can see us all" he stated. Brax noticed how Bailey's little body looked less tense when everyone was around.

Nelson nodded his head and headed to the lounge room. Bodie and Blair ran to get pillows and blankets while Harry unfolded the pull out lounge. "Hey chicken. You are safe. Let's have a bottle and get some sleep. Your poor dada looks as exhausted as you" Harry cooed at his granddaughter while he rubbed her back. "Pa Ome" Bailey whispered fighting to stay awake to make sure her brothers came back.

Bodie and Blair set up the pillows and blankets and Brax walked in with a bottle for Bailey. Nelson got on the fold out bed with Bailey still clinging to him. Bailey was looking around at her brothers who were standing around smiling gently at Bailey. She was fighting sleep to make sure no one left.

"I think you should both call in for work today. Your sister isn't going to settle unless we are all around" Nelson told his children. Bodie and Brax nodded, they had already called into work for the day off. "Maybe we all should leave you guys to sleep though" Blair stated. Bailey shook her head no vigorously, she didn't want to sleep because then they would all leave. "Chicken, we will stay right here while you sleep with dada yeh?" Harry asked seeing Bailey had gotten distraught when Blair had suggested they leave. Bailey nodded before whispering "ome".

Bailey felt at home with her brothers, dada and Pa. She was letting them know by telling them home. Nelson smiled once he realised that Bailey was referring to everyone rather then a place. She was use to everyone being around her when she slept and being away from her brothers had upset her.

Nelson took the bottle from Brax and began to feed Bailey. Everyone got settled in the lounge room so Bailey knew they would stay. Bailey was dozing while drinking from her bottle. Nelson tried to stay awake, but he soon dropped the bottle and was sound asleep with Bailey in his arms. Harry picked up the bottle ready to give it back to Bailey but she snuggled into Nelson with her pouting lips and sighed contently. She was home with her dada brothers and Pa and she finally felt safe enough to sleep.
