Finding Bailey

Nelson jumped up the minute the doctor stepped foot into the waiting room. "How is she?" Nelson rushed out. "Everything went well. The arm was reset and she has a cast on. They are moving her to recovery. After reading her notes, I'm going to have you there as Bailey wakes up" the doctor stated. Nelson nodded his head and followed him into recovery just as Bailey was pushed into recovery on a bed. She looked so small in the large hospital bed.

The nurse took Bailey's vitals and connected the monitors. "I'm going to get you to lay in the bed next to her" the nurse stated. Nelson got on the bed, careful not to disturb the monitors. He wrapped his arms around Bailey and pulled her close to his chest. Nelson ran his hands over Bailey's head and studied her face. He felt guilty that he hadn't been there when she was hurt but promised himself that he would always be there for Bailey.

Bailey began to wake whimpering, she didn't like the feel of coming out of anaesthesia. "Some kids come out and they are quiet, some kids come out crying. She will be back to her normal self in about half an hour" the nurse told Nelson as she saw the girl waking. Bailey began to cry, she felt yuck. She wanted Dada but couldn't focus on who was in the room. Her head was fuzzy and it reminded her of being with the bad man and her mum.

Nelson attempted to shush Bailey and comfort her but nothing was working. The nurse even tried by offering Bailey several different things such as an iPad, ice blocks and even a lollipop but nothing worked at all. After 30 minutes of crying, Bailey was to be moved to her room as she would be spending the night at the hospital. Nelson of course was staying right by her side.

Nelson went to get off the bed but Bailey held onto him tightly. The nurse smiled at the little girl holding onto Nelson and then lifted the railing on the side securing Nelson and Bailey before her and the ported began to guide the pair to short stay ward. Bailey was now able to focus and rubbed her hands on Nelson's face. "Dada" she sighed seeing Nelson. "I'm here princess, you are ok" he whispered back.

Bailey's face was red and covered in tears from crying. Her eyes were swollen and a little sore. Bailey had a drip which was secured to her foot and then a pink cast on her arm which started at the base of her fingers and ran to under her arm. She was studying the thing and couldn't work out why her arm was so heavy. She was looking very confused and shoved the cast towards Nelson as if to ask 'what's this'?

Bodie, Blair, Brax and Harry had been pacing back and forth in the room Bailey would be taken to after surgery. The procedure was only suppose to take an hour and it had been close to two. All the males just wanted to know if Bailey was ok. Harry had brought balloons and a teddy for his granddaughter to brighten the room up as it was dull. He had organised a private room for his chicken because he would be staying the night.

When the bed was wheel in everyone stopped and looked towards Bailey who was studying her arm. Nelson had told Bailey that she had an ouchie and the cast was to help fix it. She didn't like the cast but she wasn't in pain anymore.

Once the bed was set up and the nurse left everyone crowded the bed where Nelson and Bailey were still laying. "Blah ouch" Bailey stated showing her arm to Blair. Blair smiled at his sister "yeh ouchie but all better soon" Blair told his sister. Bailey nodded then looked around the room, she wanted her fish. "Bish?" Bailey questioned and all the boys froze. None of them remembered where the fish was.

Brax was panicking and looking everywhere but at his sister. "It's in the car" Bodie stated. "I'll go get it" he added before racing out of the room to get the stupid fish. Harry stepped towards Bailey "hey chicken, I got you something" Harry stated handing Bailey a small pink teddy.

Bailey studied the bear and then looked to Harry. She reached her hand out cautiously and touched the bear. Bailey smiled at the bear, it was soft. "It's for you chicken, you can take it" Harry told Bailey. Bailey took the teddy in her hand and rubbed it across her face. She then lifted the teddy and rubbed the teddy on Harry's face. "It's soft" Harry commented.

Bodie came running back holding the fish in his hand. "Here is the fish" he stated. Bailey looked at the fish. "Bish" she called just as the nurse walked in with some food for Bailey to eat. The food was out on the table and Bailey turned her nose up to it. She refused to try it at all.

"Ok, I'm going home to grab some bottles and things for Bailey and I" Nelson stated trying to get out of the bed. Bailey grabbed onto Nelson not wanting him to leave her. "I'll go dad" Blair stated seeing his sister getting upset. Her bottom lip trembling and eyes filling with tears. "I'll come with you" Brax declared. "Ok we need bottles, some bananas and clothes for the both of us. We will be home tomorrow so just something for Bailey to come home in and me as well. Also grab her cream for the nappy rash" Nelson told his sons. "Oh and grab dinner for us all" Harry added as the boy's were leaving the room.

Brodie stayed with his dad and his grandfather. "Bailey can I have a cuddle?" Bodie asked. He just wanted to make sure his sister was ok because he felt extremely guilty. He was the older and should of been watching his sister more closely. Bailey put her arms up and Bodie carefully picked her up bringing her to his chest. Both embraced the other. Nelson used this time to slip off the bed. Once Bodie had a cuddle Harry took Bailey into his arms and snuggled with his granddaughter. "You are safe my girl. They will never hurt you again" Harry whispered meaning her biological parents. Bailey kept her eye on Nelson the entire time not wanting him to leave. She didn't like the new place at all. It smelt funny.
