Chapter 23
Sunday morning came quickly with Bailey snuggled into Brax. She seemed to sleep longer when sleeping with one of her brothers or Dada. Blair and Bodie were awake waiting for the others to wake up. Blair and Bodie both wanted to give Bailey her morning bottle. They had all learnt that the person who gave Bailey her morning bottle would get extra cuddles, as Bailey liked to snuggle first thing in the morning.
Nelson was downstairs making breakfast, he had decided that today his boys would have the day with Bailey without him. He loved to see the bond the boys had with Bailey and wanted them to have more time together. He had even packed a bag for them with snacks and Bailey's things so they could spend the day together. He hadn't told them at all. It was also so the private detective could come and give him an update on where his ex wife was so he could get the paper work signed to adopted Bailey officially. The childcare centre was pushing for the paper work and were threatening to give Bailey's spot away even though Nelson was one of the bosses of the company.
Brax and Blair came stomping down the stairs pouting causing Nelson to chuckle at his sons. "Bodie won I see" Nelson chuckled. "He gets extra cuddles dad. It's not fair" Brax stated. "You had her all night" Blair complained. "You get her tonight" Brax argued causing Nelson to laugh. "Seriously? You boys are arguing over your sister? Who would of thought?" Nelson commented before continuing to make breakfast.
Once Bodie walked down snuggling with Bailey the pouts on Brax and Blair's face grew. "Dada" Bailey squealed out when she saw Nelson. Nelson scooped up Bailey and snuggled with her while Brax took over cooking breakfast. "Today you the three get Bailey to your selves. I'll be staying here and you three can go to the park" Nelson informed his sons.
The three boys smiled at the knowledge they had their sister without Nelson around. One would be deemed the favourite without Nelson present and none of the boys could wait for that. It meant bragging rights and also being Bailey's favourite. Nelson put Bailey in her chair with some breakfast kissing her on the head and taking his seat. Bailey was happy sitting in her chair eating her banana and toast. She also was having a smoothie instead of a bottle which Nelson had made.
Once breakfast was finished Nelson dressed Bailey and read her a book wanting to spend some time with his daughter. He sat down in the rocking chair in her room and held her close. He read her "where the wild things are" and Bailey roared along with Nelson after getting scared at first. Bodie, Blair and Brax stood at the door snapping a few photos and watched Nelson reading to the little girl.
Brax remembered sitting with his dad and his brothers having the same story read to them as kids. His mum would be off somewhere on the weekend and his dad would spend the entire weekend with his boys. Brax found himself moving forward and sitting on the floor in front of his dad remembering his childhood. His brother's followed suit and Nelson couldn't help but smile at the all his children sitting while he read to them. He would love to stop time right here and stay this happy forever.
Once the story was finished, Nelson kissed Bailey and waved his children off so they could spend time together bonding as siblings. He would meet with the PI and then they would all spend the afternoon together teaching Bailey to swim in the pool. Nelson and the boys hoped Bailey took after them in loving the water. They had all been water babies and it was about time Bailey was introduced to the pool.
Brax, Bodie, Blair and Bailey spent a few hours at the park. Bailey loved the slide and going up and down the stairs. She would hold on to one of her brothers hands but gained confidence the more she did it. Bailey didn't like the swing though and when Blair took her out of the swing she headed back to the stairs.
Brax and Bodie were packing up everything knowing they would have to head home so Bailey could have her sleep. Blair got caught by a women who was trying to flirt with him. She wouldn't let him go after his sister and he was getting annoyed at her.
Bailey waddled her way to the stairs wanting to go up and down again. She wasn't paying attention to anything else, she just wanted to go up and down the stairs by herself like she saw the other kids around her. Bailey slowly made her way up the stairs holding the side. She was so proud of herself and smiled.
Bailey began to slowly walk down, this was a bit harder and she almost fell down the stairs twice. She made it to the bottom step before an older girl knocked her off wanting to get up the stairs. Bailey fell face first off the step putting her arms out to stop the fall.
Bailey screamed in pain as she landed funny on her arm and all three boys came running. Blair was the first one to reach his sister scooping her up into his arms. Bailey let out a blood curdling scream again and was a sobbing mess. Blair was scanning her body until he saw her arm. Her left elbow was clearly broken and Blair paled seeing the huge lump on her arm.
When Bodie and Brax spotted her arm they too paled. "Shit, here let me hold her" Brax stated. Bodie felt like he was going to pass out. He was fanning himself with his hands trying not to pass out. Brax cradled his sister in his arms trying to reassure her it was ok. "Blair grab the bag. Bodie pull yourself together and get in the car" Brax ordered. He knew he would have to get Nelson and then take his sister to the hospital.
"Oh god, have you seen her arm? The bone, oh gosh, I think I'm going to pass out" Bodie called out. "You faint and I leave your arse here. Get in the car" Brax barked out causing Bodie to nod and run to the car. Bailey was still crying and Brax was attempting to carefully make his way to the car while Blair was on the phone trying to call Nelson.
