Finding Bailey

Chapter 22

Nelson had exchanged numbers with Freddie's mum and dad after the aquarium as Bailey had cried when it was time to go. They had spent the entire afternoon together seeing the penguins and picking a toy in the gift shop. Freddie had picked out a stuffed fish and had promptly given it to Bailey while blushing. Bailey snuggled the fish kissing it's head and refused to let it go much to her brother's disappointment. "Don't worry we will get rid of it when she is asleep" Brax had whispered to his brothers when he thought no one was around. He earned himself a smack on the back of the head by Harry and had a stern talking to.

Bailey and Freddie got to play in the park together after the aquarium until it started to get dark. Freddie had promised to see Bailey again reminding her that he was her best friend. Bailey had refused to let go of Freddie to get in the car until Nelson promised they would see him again. Blair, Bodie and a Brax grumbled about that but one glare from Harry had them keeping their mouths shut. They had hopped that Freddie lived far away but he lived 2 streets away which upset them more. They didn't want Freddie around their baby sister at all.

Bailey was currently playing in the lounge room with the fish Freddie had given her. She was babbling away to the thing. Some words which the others could make out were bish, dee, dada and pa. Blair had tried to distract Bailey but she was happy with the fish and had ignored her brothers.

Bodie had got Bailey's bath ready and had brought some bath toys from the aquarium for her in the hopes that she would make him her favourite. "Come on munchkin there is fish in the bath" Bodie told his sister scooping her up on his arms. "Bish" Bailey called when Bodie had left the stuffed fish in the lounge room pointing to the thing that her brothers despised. "It can't come in the bath dada will watch it" Bodie told his sister. "Dada bish" Bailey called. Nelson nodded and scooped the toy up bringing with him in to the bathroom so Bailey could see the thing while she bathed. Blair and Brax glared at Nelson for taking the stupid thing. They planned to get rid of the toy.

Bailey wanted the toy in the bath with her but settled on having it on the towel rack where she could see it. Bailey played with Bodie and the toys he had brought. There was a turtle, a fish, a crab and a duck. "Duck, Bailey can you say duck?" Bodie asked his sister when he held up the duck. "Uck" Bailey replied. "That's right munchkin duck" Bodie stated then began to quack. "Ack ack" Bailey joined in causing Bodie to laugh at his sister.

Bodie washed his sister and then wrapped her in the towel snuggling her to his chest. "Bish" Bailey whispered snuggled in to Bodie. He sighed but handed Bailey the stuffed fish and took her to the bedroom to get her dressed for bed. Brax had made a bottle for his sister as it was his turn to feed her the bottle and put her to bed. He hoped when she was asleep they could make the fish disappear.

Nelson was assumed that his boys were jealous of a four year old kid and a stuffed fish. Brax and Blair had even plotted to "lose" the fish when Nelson wasn't around but were quickly brought back to reality when Nelson reminded them they would only hurt their sister by doing that.

"I don't like it. I don't like that she is playing with boys" Brax grumbled out. She was a baby and liked a boy that wasn't her brother. He felt betrayed. Blair nodded along with his brother. They had only spoke about this this morning and now it had turned into a reality. Their baby sister liked a boy.

Nelson and Harry couldn't help it and burst out laughing. "Listen to yourselves. She is 19 months old, liking a boy at this age is the least of your worries. Not like she can sneak out to go met him in the middle of the night like you were doing at 17. The only time they can see each other is for supervised play dates" Harry told his grandsons.

Bodie walked into the room carrying Bailey who was now in her pjs. She held the stupid fish still and the boys glared at it. Why couldn't they pick the fish for her and have her like it? Why did Freddie have to give her the stupid thing?

"Hey sweetheart want a bot" Brax asked his sister who nodded her head. She rubbed the fish over her face trying to wake herself up. She had a big day and was struggling to stay awake.

Bailey reach her arms out to Brax who scooped his sister out of Bodie's arms and she snuggled into Brax's chest. Brax held the bottle for Bailey as she still refused to let go of the fish. She slowly fell asleep drinking her milk making contented sighs. Brax, Bodie and Blair all loved watching her fall asleep as she looked so peaceful when she did.

When Brax pulled the half finished bottle from her lips, Bailey's mouth reminded in a pout which the boys all thought was adorable. Blair tried to take the fish but that just caused Bailey to stir and grumble in her sleep. "Not cool" Bodie whispered to his younger brother. He had accepted the fish because it made Bailey happy. That didn't mean he was ok with her seeing Freddie again though. "Don't take it you will wake her" Harry chastised his grandsons.

Brax held his sister in his arms not wanting to put Bailey down at all. He enjoyed holding his sister. Gone were the days he would be out with his brother picking up chicks and getting blind. He couldn't help but shake his head at himself and the things he use to do. He was happy right here right now. Home on a Saturday night with his family and his baby sister sleeping in his arms. Tonight Bailey would be sleeping in with him and he was happy.
