Chasing The Broken CEO

Chapter 30

"Do you still love your first love... I mean that Irish Esquivel? Or have you moved on already?" I carefully asked him.

Darn it! This is it! I've been dying to ask him a question related to his first ever love! This is one of the things that make me so anxious. I know I should not be bothered by it given that we're only doing this whole thing for business but part of me wants to be sure that he already moved on.

It's sort of difficult to be with someone who still has feelings towards another woman. That would be a headache for sure!

"Why do you ask? Have you not figured it out when you did some background check on me?" he said jokingly and then he laughed heartily.

Oh, this is new... Evan Zendejas is laughing his heart out in front of me. I bit my lower lip to suppress the smile trying to escape my lips. It feels good to see him laughing like this, though. And I like it when he's like this, kind of loosen up to everything.

"My informant can't find anything that would confirm that you finally moved on so..." I shrugged my shoulders. "Anyway, you don't need to answer it. We should not be bothered with each other's emotions. Like you said before, this arrangement is purely for the sake of our businesses."

I just lied. I am fucking bothered!

"Now, I figured out that you are really curious about me, Risha..." he said huskily and then he stepped closer to me. He leaned forward and touched my chin which made me gasp for air.

My heart was like on a marathon. It was pounding aggressively that it felt like my ribcage was about to break. I blinked several times as I can't even look at him in the eyes. His intense stare was eating me up that I can't think straight anymore. My knees felt weak as I felt his body brushing against mine.

"I can't really tell if I already moved on," he uttered softly.

"Uhm, a-alright then..." I stammered and then cleared my throat.

I looked down to his chest, feeling uncomfortable as to how his eyes were darted on me intently. I bit my lower lip firmly.

He hasn't moved on yet... He's only sugar coating his answer for me to stop digging deeper about his past.

I knew it. I think I should know what would happen to me right after I marry this guy.

I am not trying to compete to Irish but damn it, it feels like I already lose the game even without trying.

"I guess you are really different than I thought..." he whispered while I still feel his eyes focused on me.

I swallowed hard and tried to meet his gaze, to say something that would somehow make me redeem myself but then something happened in one swift move...

Evan Zendejas has leaned closer and kissed my lips. My eyes were wide opened and I was completely stunned...

I blinked twice as I felt his soft lips on mine.

Fuck the world...

Evan Zandejas, the man of every woman's dream was seriously kissing me!

I was taken aback. My body froze up, not being able to move at all. It felt like my soul has left my body... sinking and breathless...

I literally gasped for some air after that unexpected kiss. My eyes could not even meet his gaze after what he did! I looked down to his chest, trying to digest what just happened.

Damn it! He just kissed me! Was that even real?

"Have I finally moved on, baby? Now, it's time for you to figure it out. Anyway, I just gave you a hunch..." he said gently and then he pulled away.

I glanced at him. The side of his lips rose, giving me a gentle smile and then he walked away, leaving me confused.

What the fuck...

Did we really... kiss?

I swallowed hard and gasped again. I ran my fingers through my hair and then I touched my lips. I could still feel his lips on mine... Damn it!

I inhaled heavily and patted my chest. My heart was still pounding aggressively because of what he did!

***

I lost count on how many times I have rolled my eyes at Ash who kept staring at me, grinning like he knows something. I scowled at him and sat on the available metal chair in the waiting area. I crossed my arms on my chest and sighed heavily. I don't even know why we have to come in the airport this early! We still have like three hours before our boarding time!

The two idiots followed me. I felt Evan sitting on the chair behind me while Ash sat beside me shamelessly. On my peripheral vision, I know that he kept staring at us with that irritating grin visible on his lips. He's giving me this malicious look that makes me want to slap his face real hard.

"I will bet a fucking million, I know something happened in the light house that I did not know," he said in his usual British accent.

I glared at him angrily. This guy doesn't even know when to stop! The way he grins is giving me a headache. I pressed my lips together and raise a brow. I looked away, trying to activate the remaining patience in my entire being because any moment, I might really slap him on his face out of irritation.

"Hey! What? Aren't you going to say a single word, couple?"

Unlike Evan, this guy acts so childishly! He only looked like a matured handsome man but once you get to know him, you would know that he's a person who likes to intrigue people, who are up for gossip and mischievous stupid guy. I didn't know that Evan has a weird friend like him. Now I am starting to doubt his other friends. What if they are crazier than Ash? That would be a disaster if they truly are. I shook my head.

"Call your mom, Risha. She kept sending me text messages. She's asking for you to call her," Evan spoke behind me.

"Alright..." I said coldly and then I opened my sling bag to get my phone.

I inhaled heavily.

After that unwanted incident at the light house, I decided not to talk to Evan because of two reasons. First, he kissed me. Second, I can't find the courage nor the strength to talk to him as that vivid memory keeps repeating in my mind. That unexpected memory is still clear to me. It feels like I won't be able to forget it sooner.

Why did he kiss me, anyway?

He kissed me and told me a few things which I honestly didn't understand. It felt like he's trying to screw my mind and it worked.
