Captivation: Want Nothing But You

Chapter 1670

Rachel noted Mason’s anxiety, but…

Wasn’t he too nervous?

It was merely a bout of cold and fever.

Given his experience dealing with all sorts of crises, Mason’s degree of worry seemed excessive.

Regardless, she didn’t feel it was her place to probe further, so she kept her speculations to herself.

“Miss Bennet, considering the late hour, I can arrange for someone to accompany you home,” Mason suggested, diverting the conversation.

Rachel glanced at him and shook her head.

“No need for that.

I drove myself here and can manage my way back.”

“Well, then… I’ll escort you to the car park.”

“No need.

I can manage that as well.” She had memorized the layout of the mansion after walking through it twice tonight.

Seeing Rachel’s determination, Mason nodded in agreement.

“Please take care on your way.”

Rachel flashed a smile and left.

Stepping out of the side building, she hesitated for a moment before heading to the courtyard instead of the parking lot.

Her gaze fixated on a room illuminated by lights, her expression growing somber.

After a moment’s pause, she turned and departed.

Inside the room, Mason made sure Rachel was well on her way before his smile faded and he ordered, “Come out.”

The previously locked room door creaked open.

The man who’d been impersonating Alberto just ten minutes earlier emerged, respectfully addressing Mason.

Mason’s gaze landed on him as he asked, “Where’s Mr.

Gibson?”

“He…”

I’m here.” Before the man could finish his words, Alberto appeared at the door of the side building and walked in.

Mason turned his attention to the doorway, noticing Alberto’s inadequate attire.

His face darkened in concern and he swiftly removed his own jacket to drape it over Alberto.

“How can you linger outdoors? It’s far too cold, and you’ve hardly dressed appropriately!” Mason’s frown deepened as he felt the heat radiating off the back of Alberto’s hand.

“Ahem… Ahem…” Alberto’s face was void of color and he could feel his eyelids growing heavier.

Observing this, Mason turned to the man and said, “What are you standing around for? Call the doctor!”

“Right away.

I’ll contact the doctor immediately.” Startled by Mason’s outburst, the man snapped back to reality.

He swiftly retrieved his cellphone and dialed the doctor’s number.
