Why deceive me??

"How did you obtain the money to compensate for my medical bills and purchase the drugs I need?" Bianca asked suspiciously.

"Chill, mum." She answered back. "It's part of the fee they're providing me."

"Don't you understand it's a little too extensive for just housework?" Bianca implored.

"Mum, relax. Let's not get worked up over this insufficient matter." She chuckled.

Just then Daniel came in looking all graceful and all. He wore his white coat which made him look all gorgeous. He came to check up on Bianca. Ronnie tries badly not to have any eye contact with him. "How are you doing now, ma'am."He inquired.

"I'm good. Just having a good time with my daughter" Bianca smiled.

"Oh, I can see that."He said, trying hard not to stare at her. And even as he did, he felt his heart gallop extremely.

"I think you can be discharged tomorrow," Daniel announced.

"I've always wanted to go back home. Cooking in the kitchen once again and watching my favorite TV channel." She replied dreamily.

Daniel smiled and took a sneak peek at Ronnie, who interestingly, was trying to look at the window like there was an imperceptible show going on there.

"Umm... doctor?" Bianca called, seeing the weird character of her daughter and the doctor who was trying hard not to look at Ronnie.

"Yes ma'am"

"Can I raise a question? Hope you won't mind?"

"Yes, go on"

"Are you single?"

"Ugh..." He commenced speaking

At that, Ronnie looks up at her mum. "Mum"

"Are you?" Bianca said, dismissing her daughter's alarm.

"Yes."

"Ok then, this is my daughter Ronnie. I'm sure you guys haven't met informally."

Daniel wheezed and Ronnie's eyes expanded.

"What are you saying, mum," Ronnie asked.

"As I was saying, this is my daughter Ronnie, and she's single." She began.

"Oh." Daniel began, almost shy.

"Here" Bianca began, she raised her pillow and brought out a small piece of paper. "This is her number, do call her will you?" She said.

"I will," Daniel said, collecting the piece of paper and smiling internally.

Ronnie felt like the world should gulp her. Yes, she found him desirable but not to the breadth of her mum doing this. It was so embarrassing. Daniel pocketed the paper and smiled at Ronnie. She didn't return the smile as her cheeks were all red now. rather, she put her head down.

"I... I think I'll use some fresh air, it feels humid here." Ronnie said, getting up.

"Darling, Ron, but this is an air-conditioned room" Bianca began to protest

"I just want to have a natural fresh air, be right back mum." She said and walks off. She accidentally brushed Daniel's shoulder and walks out more rapidly than previously.

Daniel found her amusing and didn't want to evacuate just yet. But he was called upon by an emergency operation.

"I think I'll be checking in on you tomorrow before you leave. Just want to make sure you're eligible to go home." Daniel said, although he knew he knew was not essential but he wanted to see her tomorrow. Ronnie went out to the terrace and sat down on the bench to clear her head and think of her next move. She thought of the emotions she was having for Daniel and wish they will go away. She tried to think of other things like the deal she had with Katie and thought of the lies she had told her mother. She thought of asking the nurse to discharge her mother immediately but thoughts against it. When did she start having such feelings for the doctor who she just met not less than a few weeks? Things aren't taking off as planned.

She already called the holder of the thrift store she works and offered her resignation. He had been more than willing to accept the resignation because he seems exhausted from her already. She was one of the most terrible workers he'd ever had before. But even one of the prettiest. With her long black hair reaching the middle of her back.

It's been almost two hours and Ronnie was still in her reverie when she felt someone stroke her shoulder.

"Still receiving fresh air are you?" A girl, no more than two years younger than her, stood beside her and smiled at her. "Oh... Hey..um... I didn't know the was far spent like this " She began to say. "I was just thinking about something."

"I know. Mind if I join you?" She asked and didn't wait for a reply and settled down. "So what ya thinking" "Huh?"

"I mean what's making you lose attention to things that are going on around you."

"I wasn't "

"You're not here."

"What do you mean not here"

"I mean not here like not here. You're lost."

Ronnie smiled. She could tell the young woman was beautiful just by looking at her figure but it was so murky that she couldn't see her face.

"I was just thinking about numerous things, you know"

"Mind to share, pledge not to say." She said jokingly.

"Funny you" Ronnie could tell she was a lovely person. "Forgive my manners, I'm Sara" she offered a handshake.

"Ronnie." She returned the handshake.

"Is it Veronica or just Ronnie?" She asked.

"Yeah, so surprised so figured that out."

"I just guessed it though. Mind if I call you Ron?" She asked.

"That's originally my name. Nice try though."

"So, what are you doing in the hospital? You don't seem nauseous to me"

"My mum is in there," Ronnie said pointing to a room at the far end.

"Oh, how is she"

"She's fine. What about you, what are you doing here."

"My bro is one of the doctors here and he doesn't like eating quickly, I and my big sis usually bring food for him so he won't famish himself with all the junk food he eats." "Oh, I see."

"You might know him. I just hope you don't drool when you notice him"

"Believe me, I have seen handsome guys when it comes to that," Ronnie said, recalling Daniel and his attractive green eyes.

"Oh, I see. My brother is one of a kind."

"So now, Tell me what is making you so moody that you're thinking about like someone lost in the woods."

"Believe me, it's nothing serious"

"If I was an infant, you could deceive me. I've been watching you for the past two hours as you have been sitting here and sighing constantly. I wanted to pass by and say hi but you were so funny doing those sighs that I decided to stare at you for a few moments before coming over."

"Nah, I was just thinking about making the straight decision"

"Same with me. I love this guy but he won't give me a glimpse and instead, is engaged to my nemesis. It stings that I don't know what to do."

"I think you should let her have her man. Maybe he wasn't even meant for you"

"I know right? I've thought about it but can't seem to get over him. He's handsome."

Just at that moment, Ronnie's phone beeped and she picked up.

"Hello" she called.

"Can you come to my office, it's something crucial about your mother," Daniel said.

Ronnie's heart missed a beat as she abruptly stood up.

"I'm on my way." She then whirled to Sara. "It was delightful talking to you Sara, I've got to go now"

"You go do your stuff girl, I'll just hang out here and wait for my driver to come to pick me up"

At that, she started walking off not without giving Sara a knowing smile.
