Chapter 11.Be in Camouflage
"what do you mean a few thousand bucks?"Ronnie asked.
"It's just a job though. We want to propose you a job." Katie said.
"What manner of job would give her that enormous proportion of money? If it's something illicit, she ain't doing that." Bianca said with a note of finality. Mrs. Phillips smiled at Bianca with a reassuring smile. "It's not something illegal." She turned to Ronnie.
"Mind if I talk to you outside, dear," Katie asked.
Ronnie nodded and stood up. The duo went out the door, not without Bianca staring at them as they walked out.
Once they were out the door, Katie spruced up herself and enunciated first.
"See, I need your assistance so bad." Katie began.
"What do you need my help for, hiring one of my clothes?" Ronnie asked playfully.
"Come on, I'm being serious here."She whined
Ronnie bobbed. "Tell me."
"I'd be bethroated to this guy, Damon." Katie began.
"Ok," Ronnie said, believing Katie was making no significance.
"And I don't want to wed him, it's not like I won't marry him though, but I have been proposed a modeling partnership which I applied for several months ago." She declared. "You're trying to tell me you don't want to get married to him, because of a contract? That's insane" Ronnie declared sincerely.
"Don't judge me. I can't forfeit that contract for anything else." She said defiantly.
"Ok, so where do I fit in here." She asked.
"Thanks for asking." She began.
Realization then dawned on Ronnie.
"Wait don't tell me...." She began.
"Yes, I want you to feign to be me and linger with him for the crucial moment. Behave like me and all. I'll be back soon enough to alleviate you, you just have to stay till I accomplish my career." She said. "I won't do it, "Ronnie declared as a matter of factly.
"No, don't say that. You ain't doing this for nothing girl. I'll pay you two thousand bucks for a beginning. You'll receive monthly compensations from me." Katie said eagerly.
"I still won't do it." She said and started walking towards her mother's ward.
Katie rushed up to her and grabbed her hand. "Please, just do it. You know you can get that size of money even if you work your ass out for a year. I'm not even staying up to a year and that money is just for a start. I'll pay you every month and you can get to live in an enormous compartment with your mammy. She won't have to worry about cash as it would be a constant thing coming into your account." Katie said frantically.
Ronnie's mind was doing some gimmicks on her. originally, she wanted to decline but the proposal was inviting. And besides, her mum was gonna live in a large dwelling as per their desire. It won't stinge to feign to be somebody you're not for a few months. Although, she knew it was erroneous.
"Are you sure about the payments?" Ronnie inquired.
Katie smirked to herself as she realises her plan was gonna work as Ronnie seemed enthusiastic.
"Of course, I don't foole with my bargains. And if you concede, I'll make the first transfer of your funds right away." Katie said
Ronnie looked at her like she couldn't speculate her. "Ok then. But we can speak none of this to my mother. She's gonna freak out." Ronnie said.
"Of course, I'm not a fool to do such. You can tell her whatever you want to. I'm just so happy that you approved to this. You don't know how much this means to me" Katie said and smiled.
"Well then, do we have a deal?" Ronnie asked, extending her hand for a handshake.
"Of course we do," Katie replied, taking his hand. "Here's my phone." Katie stretched her hands toward Ronnie.
"Why are you giving me your phone?" Ronnie asked.
"Nothing much, just want to input your account number so I can send the money right away to tell you how severent I am" Katie said.
Katie hands over the phone to her and she types earnestly on it.
"You'll get it right now," Katie said as Ronnie handed her the phone back.
A few seconds later, Ronnie's phone beeped.
"That should be it," Katie said confidently.
Really, it showed in message inbox. A credit alert of three thousand dollars.
Ronnie's mouth spread open at the sight.
"That's just for starters, once you start, it'll be a continual procedure," Katie assured.
When they confirmed their conversation, they both went back into the ward.
Katie grinned at Bianca and sat next to her mother.
"Have you guys completed everything?" She asked.
"Yes, mum. Ronnie here has approved to work for us." Katie said and beamed.
"What type of work is she gonna do that is gonna give her that kind of outrageous amount of money?"Bianca inquired.
"It's gonna be for her to live in our mansion and do some things for us." Mrs. Philips was the one who answered her.
"But what precisely will she be doing there?" She asked again, curiously taking hold of her.
"Don't worry, it's nothing much and it's not something illegal. We're rich and that amount of money is nothing to us. Besides, just take this as a generous help." Katie said and beamed toward Ronnie, who smiled calculatedly. Bianca sighed in defeat as no one was telling her anything. She silently waited for them to leave.
"I think we should best be on our way. "Mrs. Philips said and started getting up from the couch. Katie did the same.
"We'll get in touch to tell you when to start. " Katie said and beamed.
"I'll be expecting it then," Ronnie said and got off to see them off.
"Mum, let me see them off." She said to Bianca and led the duo out of the door.
They left the ward and Ronnie led them out. Katie took the lead and went towards her car.
"Mum, where did you park your car?"Katie inquired.
"Umm... I sent the driver to come to take it back home because I'm gonna be driving with you." Mrs. Philips said.
"Do you even know if I want to give you a ride?" Katie said and swiveled her eyes.
Mrs. Philips dismissed her and got in the vehicle.
Katie swerved toward Ronnie. "You don't have to be frightened. I'm gonna make sure I educate you everything you have to know about me, ok?"
Ronnie compelled a smile. "I'll try my best not to let you down."
"That reminds me, I'll be traveling this week and you have to come to my house immediately after I go to the airport ok? Just pretend like you're me so that the maids won't notice anything amiss. Mum would put you through." She said and wore her sunglasses.
"Don't worry, just be rude and no one would even notice anything amiss. Come to my house tomorrow and I'll give you a thorough a makeover, ok?" Katie said.
Ronnie nodded. "I'll do just that."
"Oh, and don't forget, be in a camouflage when you arrive, I don't want to entertain excessive attention." She said and slid into her car.
"See you tomorrow, 9 am prompt," Katie said and waved goodbye.
