When fate plays its hand Chapter 777
Chapter 0777
It was another day off, and Sam drove to Miranda’s apartment building early in the morning to fetch her and take her to the Garrison estate.
Aren and Fiona had been looking forward to Miranda’s visit on her day off. They had planned it in advance. As soon as they woke up, they urged Sam to get going.
Miranda was naturally happy to accompany them. The elderly couple was kind and thoughtful toward her, and she couldn’t bear to refuse them.
So, when the alarm rang, she got up early to prepare. She even made a batch of soft, slightly sweet pastries to bring it to them.
At 8:00 am, Sam arrived punctually and knocked on the door. After changing into his indoor slippers, his first words were, “I haven’t had breakfast yet.”
Miranda blinked in confusion.
“Is there anything to eat?” he asked.
“…Yes.”
Last time, it was sandwiches, but today, it was mushroom and ground beef sliders.
Sam asked, “Did you make these yourself?”
“Yeah.” Miranda nodded. Seeing the look on his face, she asked, “What’s wrong? Are they not good?”
“No… they’re amazing.”
She couldn’t help but laugh. Everyone loved being complimented, and she was no exception.
As they were getting ready to leave, Sam naturally helped her carry her things.
Just as the door opened, Miranda suddenly remembered something. “Wait for me.”
He stood there while she went to the balcony.
She moved a few potted plants inside and shut the balcony door before turning back to him. “Okay. Let’s go.”
Sam nodded.
At that moment, Paul stepped out of the opposite apartment. As the door opened, the two exchanged greetings.
Miranda said, “Good morning, Dr. Jefferson.

Sam smiled faintly. “How is it that every time we leave, both of our doors open at the same time? Isn’t that a bit too coincidental?”
Paul frowned at Sam using the “we“.
He carefully studied Miranda’s expression and noticed she seemed unusually calm about Sam being there so early. In the past, she had been very resistant. Why the change?
Paul’s fingers gripping the door handle turned white, but his face remained composed. ” Are you heading out?”
Sam nodded. “Yes.”
Paul turned his gaze toward Miranda. “Are you going to run errands? Is there anything I can help with?”
She replied, “Not errands. We’re going to our grandparents‘ house.”
Paul was momentarily stunned. After a beat, he realized she was referring to the Garrison family. He was surprised that she also called Aren and Fiona her grandparents.
Sam nodded politely. “We won’t keep you, Dr. Jefferson. Miranda, let’s go. The elders are waiting.”
“Okay. Goodbye, Dr. Jefferson,” she said.
Paul watched as they walked away and secretly clenched his fists.
This was the second time.
In the lab, Paul changed his clothes and began his usual task of checking the data.
Silas, still chewing on a sandwich, was putting on his lab coat and walking toward him. ” Hey, Paul. You’re early today.”
Paul didn’t respond.
Silas raised an eyebrow and walked over to his side. Glancing at the computer screen, he commented, “Wait! Isn’t this the data from a few days ago? You haven’t finished reviewing it? This isn’t like you.”
Paul stayed silent and focused on his task.
“No, no, something is off. Let me guess what’s going on!” Silas‘ eyes lit up as he stared intently at Paul’s face. “First, you’re definitely in a bad mood.”
Paul remained silent.
Silas continued, “Why else would you be upset? Your project’s going well, so that’s not it.
