When fate plays its hand Chapter 746
Chapter 0746
By force?
Sam chuckled. “Well, that’s if you actually managed to grab hold of it.”
Timothy retorted, “How would you know you can’t if you haven’t tried?”
“What? Are you going to pursue Aunt Minnie? Heh… First of all, there’s no way you’ll get past my grandparents.”
Timothy made no comment on that. Instead, he cast an inquiring glance at his son. “So, which woman dumped you? Let’s hear it.”
Sam fell silent.
“You had so much to say a moment ago. Why so quiet now?
“You wouldn’t know her even if I told you,” Sam said finally.
Timothy didn’t press further and raised his glass. “Come on, let’s have a toast. It’s rare that both of us are out having a drink together.”
They clinked glasses and downed the wine, wallowing in their own thoughts.
The night grew deep as the moon shone brightly in the sky.
Sam had drunk quite a lot, so his eyes were glazed over. On the other hand, Timothy showed no sign of being drunk, although he had his fair share. His hand was steady as he poured himself another glass.
Two strikingly handsome men drinking in brooding silence over glasses of expensive wine drew the attention of people passing by. They cast curious glances at them, intentionally or otherwise.
Suddenly, Sam put down his glass. “Dad, tell me. Is there a way to make a woman draw near and fall for you?”
Before Timothy could respond, he waved it off. “Forget it; it’s pointless to ask you. You haven’t figured it out yourself anyway.”
Timothy was at a loss for words.
Sam really was his son. He knew exactly which sore spots to hit.
It was one in the morning by the time they left the bar.
Sam was already drunk, while Timothy was still relatively sober. He ended up having to help his son back to the hotel.
“Dad, what are you doing here?” As soon as they entered the room, Sam snapped awake and stood upright.
Timothy stared at him wordlessly, drenched in sweat. If this brat had woken up just one minute sooner, he wouldn’t have doubted that Sam was acting drunk on purpose.
Sam looked around the room and gave Timothy a knowing look. “Dad, did you bring me to a hotel room?”
When Timothy didn’t respond, he continued, “I’m telling you, I’m not into sleeping around anymore. I want to keep myself pure, so don’t try to drag me down.”
Well, Sam might seem awake, but he was clearly still drunk

Timothy’s eyes flickered. Then, he mischievously asked Sam a question, “Is that so? Who are you keeping yourself pure for?”
Sam chuckled foolishly. His gaze softened, and a smile tugged at his lips as someone came to mind. “For her, of course. Who else?” He couldn’t stop himself from hiccuping.
Timothy grew more curious. “And who is she?”
“Miranda Sutton.”
“What?” Timothy thought had misheard and asked again, Who is it?”
Sam replied slowly and deliberately, “Miranda Sutton!”
At a loss for words, Timothy gazed at his son with a mixture of surprise and shock.
Now that no one was talking to him, Sam collapsed onto the bed as his legs gave way. He rolled over, wrapped himself in the blanket, and fell into a deep sleep.
Timothy stood at the foot of the bed for a long time before muttering, “You’re even crazier than your old man.”
He couldn’t help but let out a bitter laugh.
Like father, like son. Why were they like this?
The image of Minnie’s face flashed in his mind.
It had been more than 20 years. Fate had reunited them, but they had missed out on each other’s best years of life. Life had been kind enough to allow him to reunite with the person he had longed for, but what about after that?
A wave of confusion washed over Timothy.
He walked over to the floor–length windows, the night sky shrouding him in the shadows. His lonesome figure exuded a hint of melancholy.
The next morning, Sam and Timothy headed to the villa one after another to bid farewell to the elderly couple. Nelly had already left Lumberville the day before.
The three of them went their separate ways. Their family dynamics were quite intriguing in that husband and wife didn’t travel together, the father and son went different ways, while the mother and son had little to say to each other.
Although the elderly couple knew the inside story, they didn’t say much about it.
They finally found their daughter after much difficulty. Under Lionel’s urging, Aren and Fiona decided to stay a while longer at the villa so that they could spend more time with her.
Especially for the elderly Fiona.
