In Elaine Jewelry’s CEO’s luxurious office. Ryland Kaufman sat on one end of the couch, with his creative director Elsie next to him. On the opposite side was Monique Patton, the brand’s celebrity ambassador, dazzling in a red dress and trying on the newest jewelry from the current collection. Her agent Vivian and her assistant Sasha stood behind her, a picture of solid support. 

Monique had been the brand ambassador for Elaine Jewelry for three years, and this year was to be her fourth. She was here to discuss her contract renewal. With Valentine’s Day approaching, signing a new deal meant she would spend a month promoting Elaine’s once the new items were released. Before her partnership with Elaine Jewelry. Monique and Vivian’s faces turned pale at the announcement. Naomi looked at the woman on the couch and then at her own standout red dress. The message was simple. They were wearing the same red dress, and Monique was the one overshadowed. 

Monique got up quickly, staring at Naomi. Three years ago, when Shawn chose her, it felt like a dream come true. Her career advanced, and Vivian always sang her praises. She really thought that her charm was limitless, secretly believing she was the most attractive celebrity around.

“From now on, you’re not,” Ryland replied sharply. “Monique, knowing your place is important. You shouldn’t speak to Mr. Fischer that way.” 

“Naomi, come and apply this lotion for me, Shawn instructed, overlooking Monique completely. A woman both arrogant and greedy, who hasn’t even learned how to show me respect, still dreams of being the face of Elaine? She will soon realize what she’d given up from the moment she asked for more money

“Get out,” Shawn’s voice was frosty as he finally turned to Monique. His eyes, cold and incisive, were like daggers of ice. 

Monique was rooted to the spot. Facing such an intimidating face and icy eyes, Monique’s legs shook uncontrollably. She wished to leave, but her feet wouldn’t move. 

Vivian, older than Monique, sensed the gravity of the situation, knowing they had made the wrong move. “We’re sorry, Mr. Fischer, she braved the tension and pushed Monique forward. “Apologize to Mr. Fischer.”
