Chapter Coming to Fruition
Damian
I found myself daydreaming most of the day. I had to get my mind refocused while Diana was still asleep in my room. It drove me crazy being away from her, but I knew she was protected. I still had to lead my pack and I know my absence made my warriors uneasy.
Eric and I were going over border rotations using a map in my office when I started to smell a strong scent of Lavender and Lemon approaching the office.
It must be Diana.
“Well I think if we had Adonis and Alex leading this group over at the east side he could cover more terrain based on range overlooking the southern part of….” Eric discussed the rotations as I paced my eyes from the map to the door.
“Are you alright? You seem anxious.”
“I think she read it.”
“Holy, shit are you serious? You want me to leave?” He was already heading for the door, but I grabbed him by the arm.
“No stay.”
I wanted Eric to be here because I knew Diana trusted him. After all, he was the one who compiled most of the information on Holden and maybe having him here would give her assurance.
“If you say so.” He slumped back into his chair as he anxiously adjusted himself. He was just as nervous as I was.
“There she is.” I could see footsteps at the door. Diana’s sweet voice sounded like music to my ears, but I wondered who she is talking to?
“Excuse me, you can’t go in there girl, who are you anyways? You don’t belong in this pack!” I could hear Amanda on the other side of the door.
“If you want me slit that tiny little throat of yours I WILL. MOVE NOW!”
The two women finally burst into the room with Diana leading the way and Amanda trying her best to pull her back out by her arm. For a woman that has been in a coma for a few days, she looked exquisite.
Her hair was slightly messed from her sleep, but wasn’t completely undone and I thought it looked sexy as hell. My heart raced as I trailed my eyes down to her bare legs poking through the black fabric of my t-shirt. My imagination was running wild, but I had to tame the beast within me. It wasn’t the right time to let myself go...not just yet.
“Let go of me!” In the moment of frustration Diana swiped her extended claw across Amanda’s face.
She screeched in horror, but from the looks of it, it was a mere flesh wound that would heal quickly.
“Alpha! She needs to be dealt with! This is unacceptable! I will not stand for this brutality!” Amanda held her hand to her face as blood and makeup dripped to the floor. I didn’t give her the sympathy she expected, but rather the opposite.
“How about I deal with you!? YOUR FIRED, Eric will contact you in the morning with the details of you new assignment.”
“But-!”
“BUT WHAT? You assumed a woman, wearing my clothes, wearing my scent, coming from my bedroom was a mere stranger? Then have the audacity to physically restrain her?! How pathetic. I actually thought more of you and this little incident has made me think otherwise.”
I could see the tears forming in her eyes. Our physical relationship was in the past, but it seemed like her jealously had gotten in the way.
“Yes Alpha.” She shamefully lowered her head and quickly retreated from my office.
“Now I got to deal with her.” Eric mind linked to me as he rolled his eyes.
“What would I do without my Beta?” I smirked.
“Finally, Eric, thank the moon goddess you’re alright!” Much to my surprise Diana ran up to Eric and hugged him tightly.
I let out a deep growl.
Eric looked at me wide eyed as she tightly gripped her arms around him. “Thanks Diana,” He awkwardly replied as he kept eye contact with me.
Suddenly, Diana switched her gaze to me. Her breathing turned course and shallow as she deepened her eyebrows.
When she was angry, she looked so-
SLAP!
Diana connected her hand to my cheek like a crack of a whip. “Where the hell were you!? Eric almost died!” The slap left a slight sting, but maybe it was what I deserved for leaving.
“No YOU almost died. You should of listened to him, why did you leave your room?” I stepped in closer from my desk to get a better view of her. I was a ticking time bomb in her presence. It was just a slap, but damn, it felt good when her hand touched my face.
“The last time I stayed in a locked room I was kidnapped by a lunatic!” She crossed her arms and stood her ground. I didn’t realize how much it upset her that I was gone, but I suppose that was a good thing.
“Eric’s FINE thanks to you.” I glanced over at Eric who was awkwardly sitting in his chair. I could tell he wanted to leave.
“Bottom line, it was an avoidable situation. An Alpha should always be with his pack.”
“See, you’re sounding more like a Fenrir Luna already.” I smirked.
“I still have lots of questions... And I have to admit, I was anxious to see you come back, but why place the file in my room and not tell me in person?”
Eric cleared his throat, “Because its solid evidence.”
“Exactly, would you really believe the ‘lunatic kidnapper’ telling you that Holden killed your entire family? That’s why I left Diana. Where do you think I went? I was putting the pieces of the puzzle together for you to see. I know you’ve been lied to before, and I wanted you to be 100% sure that I was being honest.”
“It’s true Diana, I didn’t tell you where Damian went because I didn’t want you questioning our intentions.”
“We are werewolves, it’s not our way. How could my mate betray-”
“That murderous thieving asshole was NEVER your mate. I AM. Look at you, your mark is practically gone,” I pulled her hair away from her neck revealing bare skin, “NOTHING, he has no bond to you and the Moon Goddess herself has declared it so.”
Diana patted onto her neck where her mark used to be. Her face told me that she already knew, but was too scared to admit it.
“I know...I’ve lost my connection completely to Crimson pack and Holden. He feels like a lost memory.”
“Diana, I helped Damian gather the information on Holden. There is still much you do not know about him.” Eric glanced in my direction; he knew I left out some information from the file, but in time I would tell her.
“Why couldn’t I sense you the night we met?”
“It’s just a guess, but Holden’s mark must of gotten in the way with the connection. It has always been there Diana, but it was weak. Now that we are together, our connection will only strengthen. Don’t you feel it?” I narrowed my gaze into her oceanic blue eyes as they glistened in the sunlight seeping through the window. Something about them made me feel at peace, like a calming hand on a tired shoulder.
“Um- I better leave.” Eric bolted up from his chair and left in quick pace.
Diana and I were locked onto each other, not bearing to say goodbye to Eric, but I’m sure he would understand. This was the first time I starred into my mates eyes, with untainted senses that she could lather up and inhale. From the aromatic smells, to our electrical touch; everything that she missed was finally coming to fruition. I was disappointed it took so long, but I would of waited for as long as it took.
“Damian. I don’t know what to say. I feel different now, my body is changing too...”
“I can see that.” My eyes trailed her womanly figure. Her breasts were much fuller, and her curves were filling out beautifully, but no matter what she looked like, she was perfect.
“Excuse me?” She seemed taken back, but she couldn’t deny why her body was changing.
“I’m saying, I LIKE WHAT I SEE.” I stepped in closer to her, inhaling her sweet scent.
“I’m not denying the feeling Damian, trust me.” Her body tensed up as I moved in closer.
“Well then, what’s the problem?”
“I just found out Holden killed my entire family!” Tears started forming in her eyes. I knew I hit her with the facts she couldn’t deny, so I had to be sensitive to it.
I was acting like a horny teenage boy, but she made me weak to the knees and I was losing control. My body flinched as I got closer to her, I wanted to grab her so badly, but I had to hold back. I couldn’t be too abrasive. I wanted to be there for her not just physically, but emotionally too.
“I found this for you.” I placed a photo in her hand and squeezed it tightly. We locked eyes briefly then she curiously unraveled the tarnished photo.
“Where did you get this!?” Her eyes widened as she held her hand to her mouth.
“I dug through the ashes of your old home.”
“I thought there was nothing left.” The tears streamed down her cheeks as she braced the photo in her hand.
“Holden didn’t want that for you, he has never wanted that for you.”
Her breathing turned shallow and her throat tightened until she couldn’t get any more words out.
“Diana.” I held my breath as I reached in, hoping she would be receptive to my touch.
“How could he? How could I-?” She fell into my arms as she choked up in tears.
I felt myself succumbing to the same emotions as I tightly held her against my body. I didn’t want this moment to end. I wanted time to stop.
“Thanks for getting this for me, it mean’s everything to me.” She rested her head on my chest as her tears soaked through my shirt.
“It will be ok Diana. I’m here, I’ve always been.” The electrical sparks pulsed through me like a tidal wave as I rubbed her back.
I never thought I would be blessed with a destined mate. Our emotions, our soul, our bond, both physically and mentally was finally unified as one.
