Chapter 148
Marco then stepped towards Letta, who had just come out of the bathroom with a bathrobe still enveloping her body. Her hair seemed to be wrapped in a small towel, making Marco smile. Letta walked towards the wardrobe and took her nightwear before reentering the bathroom. Marco remained silent, watching his wife leave with raised eyebrows. Was the smile she had just shown so terrifying that it scared Letta, Marco thought, which ultimately made him find it amusing. A few minutes later, Letta emerged again after putting on her nightwear and sat on their bed.
"Why did you run earlier?" Marco asked, making Letta look at her husband while rolling her eyes lazily.
"Of course, because when you showed that smile that worried me, I knew what was going on in your mind when you saw me still wearing the bathrobe. So, I secured myself immediately because I was really tired," Letta said, making Marco laugh. It turned out that his wife had quite a good sense of defense, Marco thought. Marco then put down the book that had been in his lap, got off the bed, took over the hairdryer from Letta, and tried to take over her task. Letta looked at the reflection in the large mirror in front of her as Marco began massaging her head while trying to dry her hair.
"Your hair has gotten long," Marco said as he gazed at Letta through the mirror in front of him.
"Yeah, should I cut it?" Letta said as she took a handful of her hair, leaving Letta momentarily silent as she gazed at her wife's beautiful hair.
"I don't know. You'll look beautiful with long or short hair," Marco said again, making Letta furrow her brows.
"Haven't you ever seen me with short hair?" Letta asked, leaving Marco silent.
"Not short, but maybe it was shoulder-length," Marco said, making Letta nod her head.
"What if I cut it to shoulder-length? Would that be okay?" Letta asked, making Marco nod his head.
"Yes, it's up to you. I would never forbid you from anything, because to me it's all the same. Whether you have long or short hair, you're still Letta, my wife," Marco said, making Letta smile in response. Until finally, Marco was reminded of his wife's solo journey.
"You know, I was really scared earlier. I didn't know you had the courage to walk alone in a place you didn't know, especially in such a crowded place. What if someone wanted to hurt you?" Marco said, reminding Letta of her encounter with Jacob.
"Ah, yes, I just remembered that earlier I wasn't walking alone," Letta said, causing Marco's hand movements to stop. After that, he looked at Letta again through the large mirror in front of them. "What do you mean?" Marco asked again.
"Initially from this hotel, I did walk alone, but after arriving at the exhibition earlier, I met someone," Letta said, making Marco stare at her even more with raised eyebrows. "Who was it?" Marco asked again.
"Come on, guess, you would never expect that I met him," Letta said, making Marco even more uncomfortable. How could Letta possibly know someone in this country, Marco thought again.
"Can't you guess? I met your cousin. Initially, I didn't know him, but he greeted me so warmly. I was hesitant about how to respond to him because I was afraid he didn't know about me. Fortunately, he introduced himself first without me asking. That's why he didn't suspect that I didn't know him," Letta said, making Marco remain silent.
"You know, he's Jacob, your cousin. I didn't know you had a cousin around my age," Letta said, making Marco's heart beat faster.
"Are you sure you met someone named Jacob?" Marco asked again, making Letta nod her head.
"Well, he introduced himself as Jacob. He also said that I've changed a bit. He also didn't know that I was pregnant because he mentioned that you never told your extended family about my pregnancy at all. He turned out to be a good person. I went out earlier without bringing any money, and he treated me to whatever I wanted to buy there. However, he couldn't join and meet you because he said he had some business in this country. And one more thing, he also mentioned that he was a little annoyed with you for not involving him in your new project," Letta said at length, leaving Marco just silent.
"Are you hurt?" Marco asked, making Letta fall silent.
"Hurt, of course not," Letta said.
"He didn't do anything to you, did he?" Marco asked again, causing Letta to shake her head.
"On the contrary, he seemed kind. He even got me what I wanted to buy earlier. Maybe you have a significant misunderstanding. So, it seems like you two need to meet and resolve your issues. I'm sure it can be sorted out," Letta said, prompting Marco to finally switch off the hair dryer, feeling that Letta's hair was dry enough. After that, he roughly wiped his face and turned Letta's body to face him.
"If you meet that man again in the future, just pretend I never saw him. Avoid him and never talk to him about anything," Marco said, causing Letta to furrow her brow. "Why? He's really a good person. I'm sure there's just a misunderstanding between you two," Letta said, making Marco once again sigh harshly.
"There's no misunderstanding between us, Letta. He's just not someone you can easily approach. You've only just met him a few times, and you shouldn't conclude things so easily. So, I beg you, even though I won't allow it at all, we don't know, right, whether an incident like earlier will accidentally happen to you again. Maybe you'll run into that man, but please, never get close to him. Never give him an opportunity to get close to you," Marco said with a serious gaze, causing Letta to nod her head.
"Alright, if you're so worried about him, I'll avoid him as much as possible," Letta said, making Marco just exhale deeply.
"I'm not doing this because I don't want you to be close to my extended family. It's just that they're not people who can understand your situation. And they're not entitled to be close to us, especially anything related to us. And they don't need to know about my condition and my family's condition, you understand," Marco said, making Letta nod again. Letta didn't know what had happened between Marco and his extended family, so for now, all she could do was follow what Marco wanted to do to her. At least, Letta didn't know the beginning of this issue, so she couldn't argue.
