Chapter 147
Marco didn't hesitate when he immediately left the casino, abandoning all the work he had to attend to, upon hearing the news that Letta had disappeared from the hotel. He was convinced to go straight to the hotel and upon arrival, he could see several guards bowing to greet his arrival.
"So, should I eliminate each one of you to show you how to take care of my wife?" Marco said, leaving them silent and bowing even lower.
"Don't make me angrier. Move quickly and find Letta. Deploy all your guards to find her as soon as possible," Marco said, looking at Pedro, who then looked at his subordinates, and they all scattered to find Letta.
Meanwhile, Letta began to approach the guards who seemed to be searching for her, and her guess was confirmed when the black-clad guards approached her.
"Madam, we were looking for you earlier. Are you okay?" one of the guards asked, making Letta nod her head.
"Yes, I'm fine. I was just strolling, enjoying the hustle and bustle here. I didn't realize I had walked too far from the hotel. Have you been looking for me since then?" Letta asked casually, making the guard nod his head. Unbeknownst to Letta, they had nearly faced Marco's anger.
"Alright, then let's go back to the hotel. Has Marco returned?" Letta asked, making the guard nod his head again.
"Yes, Sir has been waiting for Madam and seemed panicked because he couldn't find Madam in the hotel room," the guard said.
"I'm sorry, I was about to take guards to accompany me for a walk around, but there was no one outside my room, so I thought I didn't need guards to protect me," Letta said, finally getting into the car followed by several guards. They immediately contacted Pedro to stop the search and informed him that Letta had been found. True to their word, within five minutes of driving, they were back at the hotel where Letta had been staying.
Letta didn't know if her brief disappearance had prompted Marco to mobilize all his guards. When Letta saw several cars lined up in front of the hotel, along with Marco's men dressed in black in the lobby, they all bowed to welcome Letta's arrival, making her feel slightly guilty.
Letta went straight to the hotel room, where the door was ajar, with guards lined up in front of it.
"Did you really search for me?" Letta asked again, without being answered by the guards. Letta went in and saw Marco, who immediately turned to look at her. Letta was about to speak when Marco took a quick step and pulled Letta into a tight embrace, surprising her. Letta could feel Marco's heart beating rapidly, and his hands trembling as he held her.
"Why?" Letta asked, making Marco feel both annoyed and relieved at the same time.
"Why are you asking like that?" Marco asked, returning the question to Letta.
"I saw you seem frightened," Letta asked again.
"Of course, I had to be afraid when I got the report that you weren't in the hotel room. You know, this is the scariest thing in my mind. I was afraid you might really disappear from my sight. That's why I always provide tight security for you," Marco said, making Letta smile as she reached out her hand and stroked her husband's firm jaw, which looked hardened.
"Okay, I'm back now. Earlier, I was going to bring some guards that you might have assigned to escort me, but it turned out there was no one outside. So, I thought I didn't have to worry too much about my safety. I planned to just walk around the hotel, but my steps kept going farther. I saw a crowd not far from here. There was an art exhibition and food stands. I enjoyed my time there," Letta said, making Marco only able to roughly rub his face.
"Forgive me for not being able to take you around this place and instead being busy with all my affairs. You must have been very bored," Marco said, making Letta shake her head.
"Well, I don't know. Maybe I wasn't that bored. I was just a little curious out there. I didn't actually intend to go far from this hotel. It happened unexpectedly," Letta said, which made Marco pull his wife back into his embrace. "Alright, forget it. Next time, you can't go anywhere alone. Even if there are no guards around you or not, you have to wait for me, okay?" Marco said, making Letta nod her head. "Yes, I know. I'm sorry for making you worried again," Letta said, making Marco finally able to smile.
"So, you went there alone?" Marco asked, making Letta nod her head.
"Yes, I was really amazed by this city. I don't know if they ever sleep or not, because what I saw from our hotel window, whether it's morning, afternoon, or evening, this city is always bustling. I like the hustle and bustle," Letta said, making Marco nod his head.
"Yes, for that reason, expanding my business here is one of the advantages I'm considering," Marco said again, making Letta nod her head. Letta then looked at Pedro and several guards still lined up in front of their room. "You didn't intend to have them stay there, did you? Come on, just two or maybe one is enough. Let them do more important work than guarding me," Letta said, making Marco shake his head.
"There's nothing more important than guarding you. That's my number one priority. So, instead of you doing what you did earlier, I'd rather increase the number of guards," Marco said, to which Letta immediately refused. "No need. You're making the hotel guests around here uncomfortable with their presence," Letta said again.
"Don't worry. Don't I know that specifically on the floor we occupy, I've rented all the rooms. There won't be anyone bothered by our presence," Marco said, leaving Letta silent. No wonder during the days she stayed at the hotel, Letta never saw anyone passing by on the same floor as hers. It seemed that her husband really went all out to impress her.
"You really rented the entire floor of this hotel just for the two of us?" Letta asked, making Marco nod his head.
"That's to make you comfortable. I know you wouldn't be comfortable if there were strangers lingering around you in our living space, including me. I just want you to feel more at ease because you didn't want to stay in the previous dimension. So, I had to do this," Marco said casually, making Letta seemingly unable to protest further about all his decisions. After all, they had been staying at this hotel for a few days, Letta thought.
