Chapter Chapter Six: Socializing with Party People and a Garden Disaster
“Come on, Malachi! Loosen up and have some fun,” Taylor coaxed as he, Terrell, Abaddon, and Azrael all but dragged me of the safety of my quiet bedroom and into the middle of their and the other four’s massive hurricane called a birthday party. “You’ve been hanging in your bedroom all morning and the festivities have only begun.”
“And with good reason,” I retorted, vainly squirming out of the demon twins’ iron grip while being pulled further and further out into the massive backyard. “Y’all know that I don’t like wild parties. And don’t me that you guys don’t know that because I always end up having to clean up after y’all.”
“Oh, come on, pixie,” Azrael rebutted. “All you need is a few good drinks in your bloodstream and to dance with a few other omegas and you’ll learn to like it. We plan on making you have a good time all day today.”
“It’ll be fun,” Abaddon wheedled. “And you know that we had to invite our best friends over- and not your friends other than Floriana and Pauly since the rest are spending time with their families. Plus, you know that the Magnificent Eight have been asking for you.”
I sighed as we all reached the massive crowd of drunk Alphas and Betas, the underdressed Omegas, and even our parents (who were caught in a massive orgy, ew!) with the loud music blaring by many DJs and the smell of barbeque in the air. “I’m not worming my way out of this, am I?” I whined.
“Nope,” Terrell chirped as he spotted the Eight talking with Pauly. “And you’ll be hanging out with the guys for the rest of the day.”
I stifled a moan as my brothers led me to the casually-dressed Alphas, all of them looking like they won the lottery as I was led to an empty table while a plate of food was set before me. “He’s all yours,” Abaddon said to a grateful Vincent. “Make sure that he has fun, bro.”
“We plan to,” Ian assured the retreating brothers as the rest took their seats at the table while I saw Pauly send me an apologetic smile. “So, cutie. I heard that you had a good night’s run and shift. Maybe next week, we can all enjoy separate times shifting into our other halves and let them get to know each other better.”
“Damn right,” Nathaniel crooned, his angel wings retracting into his back as a bottled iced tea came my way. “And I’m hoping that next week is when you’ll find your perfect soulmates, which I mean myself and my friends.”
The others laughed.
I inwardly moaned, deciding to dig into my plate of barbequed chicken, pasta salad, and baked beans. “Guys, I got a lot going on right now, and I’m not even sure if I can find the time to find my mate- or mates, given the fact that next Monday is when I’ll begin homeschooling with tutors and virtual classes. If anything, you know that I’ll be kept under heavy watch by the guards.”
“Don’t be silly,” Ivan rebutted, his eyes glowing demon-purple. “Your brothers and parents know that we’re all close friends with your Alpha brothers and even the triplet Betas like to call us their brothers since we’re all protective of you. I’m sure that they’ll allow you some leeway and let us visit you and even allow a few supervised dates.”
“Guys, I’m flattered, but-”
“No buts,” Damien cut me off with a stern look, crossing his arms and letting his eyes glow Alpha werewolf red. “We all love you, Malachi, and we’re done trying to let you slip away from our grasp. It’s time that you fully accept the inevitable and learn to be more of a social butterfly to match your future royal status. And that will start today when you learn to make good connections with other Omegas, Alphas, and Betas of all species. Starting with this party, we’ll be helping you come out of your shell.”
And as bad as their word was (while not even finishing my plate of food), I was dragged and bullied into getting to know the other teens at the party who were here with their friends, family members, and even some of the other kids who somehow got in without an invite. It was even worse when my fathers all approved of the Eights’ plan to make me come out of my shell and insisted that I used this as a learning experience.
I had a feeling that this was also a ploy to make me do some reckless shit. But they were right since I was a future Moon Wolf Prince and a Sun God Wolf.
And as the party wore on into the night, I managed to make some plans to visit various packs and covens for lunch with the future Lunas, exchanged phone numbers, and even danced a few times. And while I still felt like I wanted to go back inside and hibernate in my room with my books and secret stash, I knew that I wasn’t going to be out of anyone’s sight unless I started to have fun.
As for the Eight themselves, it turns out that they were THAT needy for my attention, Witness the moment that Isaiah (the werecat-shifter) wanted me to go on a quick run with him as our cats (my mountain lion Marais and his panther Sethanial) or how I was bullied into playing hoops with Thomas the dragon shifter and Yavier while I wasn’t dancing with Ivan and Ian in a three-way tango.
My goodness, folks. I was hoping to at least steal a quick bite of food. I hoped that one of my brothers or parents was courteous enough to save me a plate.
**************
It was near sunset and while my brothers were currently getting ready to shift into their various forms (with Phillippe and Claude needing to stay by each others’ side to calm their halves down), I was finally back into the safety of the indoors while nursing a bottled water. “What a day,” I breathed, sitting down in an empty and quiet parlor room.
“You okay, kid?”
I looked up to see a small group of older teens- five women and two guys- as they came inside. “And I take it that you guys need to catch your breath as well,” I answered. “And I’m doing just peachy. I’m Malachi, just so you know.”
“We know,” commented a petite redhead as she sat next to me. “I’m Mariah Winters, Omega vampire as well as Kayden and Clayton’s mate.”
“I’m Tomeka Gaskins, fey and I’m Phil and Claude’s mate,” commented a coffee-skinned woman with long braids. She pointed to her sister, who wore the same red and green cocktail dress as she was. “That’s my twin sister Destiny and she’s bonded to Terrell and Taylor.”
“Charmed,” crooned Destiny as she and I shook hands.
“I’m Addison Zeller and this is my younger sister Alyssa,” replied a sweet and chunky brunette as she and her sister introduced themselves. “Omega werewolves who got a match with Abaddon and Azrael. I got Azrael while she got Abaddon.”
Oh, boy. “I hope you Zeller twins know that my brothers love to cause trouble,” I warned her. “They can be very reckless.”
“We know,” The twin known as Alyssa commented. “But when my sister and I are around them, they can be very sweet.”
I noticed the dark-skinned male twins, both dressed in pastels. “And let me guess, you two were the ones to claim Gabe and Mike,” I commented.
“They did,” Addison replied. “They’re the Booker Twins from the Deveraux vampire coven and their parents wanted them to find their mates as soon as possible.”
“I’m Evan,” commented the twin on the left with an Eastern European accent before motioning to his twin brother on the right. “That’s my brother Regan. I got Gabe and he has Mike.”
I nodded. “So this means that y’all are my future siblings-in-law,” I replied. “I guess you all know that I’m their brother and the lone Omega kid in the family.”
“We know,” commented Tomeka, she and her sister giving me knowing grins. “Destiny and I saw you going on your run as your mountain lion while we were our fairies Cristalia and Thalia. You looked like you were in your element.”
“But we were mainly wanting to talk to you since you’re going to be our future brother-in-law and wondering how you were dealing with your connected bond with the Magnificent Eight. We know that you haven’t felt anything yet, but it won’t be long until you can feel it yourself,” Evan piped up. “And as crazy as it sounds to have eight mates, I know that they love you a lot to make sure you are ready to be a Moon Wolf Prince.”
Everyone nodded at that.
“Plus, you’re blessed to have that many mates,” Alyssa added. “Many omegas aren’t as lucky as us since most douchebag Alphas tend to reject us Omegas for someone as popular, power-driven, and good-looking as they dream to have when they just wanted someone to sire their young and future Alpha leader before tossing their planned mates to the rogues or having them killed.”
“We all know of your dad Carson’s legacy and backstory with that idiot Regan Zallenda did to him,” Regan softly said. “My fathers were there to chew him out when they learned about what had happened years ago and our coven was overjoyed when he got killed by a lightning strike and when his twin brother got destroyed completely when he tried to sacrifice Carson at his planned dark wedding. The idea of being a sacrificial lamb is enough to give me nightmares for a week.”
“Mr. DuBauer is one lucky man to have nine mates as his husbands with one of them being a demigod,” commented Tomeka. “And you’re lucky to have eight mates who can be equally loving to you as we are with your brothers. Learn to give the mating bond a chance, kid. You may not know of it yet, but I promise you that you will be loved.”
“Thank y’all,” I commented. “I’m just wrapping my head around the fact that-”
The door swung open to reveal a concerned Yesenia and Armando. “Malachi, you might want to activate the EMP for your garden,” the former said to me. “Abaddon and Azrael are there trying to eat all of your newly-planted roses while Kaden and Clayton have been leaving wolf dung in near your geraniums.”
“They what?!” I bellowed angrily as my future in-laws giggled. “Yesenia, is anyone else in the garden?”
“Yep, and they’re all hungry for some of your vegetables and fruits,” commented Armando. “I’ll have the gardeners contacted tomorrow.”
“Thank y’all,” I said, my fury rising at my precious garden being wrecked. To my future siblings-in-law, “Excuse me, y’all. I got a party to shut down and pests to dispose of.”
I stormed out of the parlor and headed to the backyard where everyone was starting to clear out. I found the button for the EMP near the portico that overlooked the east end of the garden and pressed it, closing my eyes to avoid being blinded by the lights while savoring the screams and yells by the unwanted guests. “Much better,” I said as the lights finally dimmed while Dad, Mike, and Gabe came to my side. “I guess this party’s over, huh?”
“Can’t blame you there,” replied Mike. “And did you meet our mates?”
“I did,” I replied. “We had a lovely chat.”
“Great,” Gabe replied as Dad took out his megaphone and started to yell for the partygoers to head inside and prepare to leave while the DJs were packing up their equipment and the maids and servants began to clear the trash away. “Dad made sure to save you a good plate of food for you as well if the demon twins didn’t gobble it all away. Pauly’s on his way to Taco Bell just in case.”
“Thanks. What a weekend this has been.” And that was the truth.
