Chapter Chapter Seven: Dating, Mating Bonds, and Advice from old Friends
A few days later...
Dear readers, one would think that after a crazy and hectic birthday weekend, you’d expect to find me taking things easy and finally getting a few moments to breathe.
You’d be wrong right there.
Since that weekend, you already know that my ten Alpha brothers and I (alongside the Beta triplets) were already hunkering down on royal lessons and combat training by family and friends. For me, I not only began my homeschooling with private tutors and virtual classes but also endured twice the combat training with uncle Clay Draper and Uncle Colin (both of them happy to learn that I wasn’t attending Bethune Memorial and out from any pervy Alphas while making sure that my body was aching from hand-to-hand combat and practicing to shift into my forms faster) and studying the legacy of the werewolf kingdoms with Iain and Archer (they showed no mercy at all with their random quizzes).
And as for my social life? I did get a few moments with the crew (Travis and Sapphire made sure that they at least have some tea time with me alongside Charissa and Carson) while going for runs with Pauly and Floriana before sunset. But most of my time was mainly stuck with the Magnificent Eight with pre-arranged and supervised dates with my brothers and their mates tagging along. And that was definitely the case when I was back at the diner with the guys as Taylor, Terrell, and their mate Destiny came along for “moral support (or making sure that I didn’t dine and dash).”
“So, Taylor and Terrell,” Thomas the dragon-shifter began after we received our complimentary milkshakes as he and Yavier snuggled closer to me. “I heard that you two and your brothers immediately connected your mating bond with your mates after the party.”
Destiny blushed, sheepishly turning away from the teasing looks of my mates as I stifled the urge to vomit. “We did,” she replied. “Taylor and Terrell didn’t want to waste any more time, so we went to our bedrooms and finally let loose of our inhibitions.”
“She was delightful,” Taylor sighed, a dreaming look plastered on his face. “Tay and I took turns hitting her sweet-”
“Please, not while I’m waiting for my food,” whined Ian, “but I am happy that you three and your brothers decided to make things official.”
“We have,” agreed Taylor, giving me a knowing grin. “I have a feeling that our brother will be next to feel the connection with you guys and you’ll soon be making it official as well.”
I held up a finger. “Uh, hold on right there, Taylor,” I commented. “I’m still in school, you know, and I hardly settled into being eighteen, you know. And besides, I think I want to wait until I’m married before my V-card is taken away.”
“Yeah, but he’s also talking about the mating bond and you feeling the pull between you and us,” commented Nathaniel. “My friends and mates and already feel the pull towards you and it’ll be inevitable when you feel it as well.”
“We shall see,” I replied just as the same waitress as before came to take our orders, myself settling for the Monte Cristo sandwich platters with waffle fries and a chocolate cake for dessert while everyone else settled for the pizza special to share.
“Good Goddess,” exclaimed Destiny. “Malachi, love, You really need to cut back on the junk food and start eating lighter if you want to keep that skinny frame.”
Taylor chuckled. “Babe, when it comes to my brother he has an infinite metabolism speed that even amazes our parents,” he replied. “You ought to see him with his secret stash full of treats. No one other than Dad, the maids and servants, and his friends is allowed to go near his stash without his permission.”
“I heard about that from Vincenzo and the incident with him and his father when they...”
I tuned out their conversation, my supernatural halves feeling silent while I was lost in the cuddling of the Eight Buffoons. Damien and Thomas were sneaking in little kisses with each other while Ivan and Nathaniel themselves were busy giving me back massages. Vincent was under the table giving me a foot massage while Ian continued to snuggle me in his swimmer-esque arms. Isaiah and Yavier both just watched me be lost in my own thoughts with wide smiles on their face.
And then...there was the familiar click- the moment when I felt the bonds of romance between me and the eight teens who were making my supernatural halves happy. Marais and Horus were purring like satisfied kittens, Dominique was singing like a Frenchwoman in love; Salgiel and Haman were chanting in Latin; Helios was dancing in pure happiness. And Eryk, Osirus, and Oberoi were in deep meditation.
“Mate,” I heard Ian mumble in my ear.
I looked up into the merman’s eyes full of lust and joy. “What’s that?” I said dazedly.
“You smell like mate- our soulmate,” Damien clarified.
My eyes flashed gold as I went on autopilot, lowering my neck in submission. “Alphas,” I breathed before I snapped back into reality.
Oh. My. Fucking. God.
I was the mate of the Magnificent Eight Alphas from DC and I was bonded to them like glue.
“Fuck me,” I whimpered before the darkness swallowed me whole.
“Oh, shit,” I heard Taylor call out before I went into a blissful slumber.
**************
“Malachi?”
“Malachi?”
I snapped open my eyes to find that I was back at the Palace of the Wolves and in my bedroom as Uncle Clay and Aunt Valentina, Uncle Camden and Aunt Fianna, and Uncle Miles hovered over me. I stretched my limbs, noticing that I had unknowingly shifted into Salgiel. “What happened,” I muttered, rubbing the sleep from my eyes.
“Taylor and Terrell brought you home while those boys of yours told us that you felt your mating bond click between them,” Uncle Clay replied, giving me a small and comforting grin. “According to them, you were shifting back and forth between Salgiel, Horus, Marais, and Osirus. You gave all of Denver a nasty fright, kid.”
The bedroom door swung open to reveal my relieved fathers as Dad pushed them out of the way before he wrapped me in a giant hug. “Thank goodness that you’re okay,” he breathed. “Are you okay?”
“Ginger peachy and lemon berry now that I’m awake,” I replied. “I’m only sorry that I didn’t eat yet though when I felt that click.”
“Your brothers are out with their mates, and they’ll bring you back a little something,” he promised me. “I made them swear to not eat it if they didn’t want me to take away their video games, though I believe that Gabe and Mike will keep their promises. But I guess you know that you felt the connection with the Eight, right?”
I nodded. “It also means that those boys will more than likely be ready to jump my bones,” I commented.
“Be serious,” Aunt Fianna sternly replied. “It means that you are bound to those eight Alphas for life, Malachi. And as you know, to reject them without giving them a chance could spell trouble for you. Remember the story of what happened with the late Regan Zallenda?”
I nodded. “Aunt Ciara told me all about that- him being a pariah and his life taking a downward spiral after that,” I replied. “And then Dad performed the soul Conversion on the night of his rejection and exile to live as a human while living with you, your late sister and nephew, and your late mother. In between being comatose after a car crash and him waking up to meet his eight second-chance mates- my dads, things were wild.”
“Then you know what you need to do, right?” Uncle Camden replied. “You need to accept them as your mate. Don’t do it now since it’s already close to six and they need to be with their families by now. Do it as soon as possible. You’re a lucky boy to be blessed with those boys.”
“I heard that,” Uncle Miles agreed. “And if I know any better, I bet my wife is ready to chew them out and give them some strong words herself if your fathers haven’t done that already.”
“We have, as well as Kai’s brothers,” Gavin piped up. “Hell, even the Moon Goddess and the other gods and goddess themselves had some strong words for them. But back to Malachi, he just needs to take time and learn to fully comprehend the meaning of being their soulmate.”
“Right,” Alain replied. “Malachi, it takes time to let yourself be ready to be bonded with those boys, but you need to claim them as yours as soon as possible.”
I nodded. “I need to think about this,” I replied, “but I will talk to them as soon as possible.”
“That’s all we ask,” Dad told me.
“We’re back,” I heard Kaden boom from the hallway as he and Clayton came in with a bag of Burger King on hand. He gave me a giant grin. “And we managed to stop by the diner and pick up some food for you as well, bro. Damien said to talk to him and the others when you get a chance. Do it after classes tomorrow. And I’ll know if you haven’t, so make sure you do.”
I nodded, grateful for the smell of the Double Whopper with cheese (no tomatoes or onions) that reached my nose. “I plan to talk to him soon.”
And by soon, I mean as long as I can hold out and pretend that being bonded to eight Alphas never happened. But I had a feeling that the Eight themselves have already made plans to see me.
Oh, boy.
