Chapter 233
King Braedon POV
I knew she wouldn't be able to help herself. That if anything was going to lure her out, it would be Blair's funeral and the knowledge of her death. It would have been impossible for her to resist. Brynn had made it clear that I was her next target as was her father, Alpha Johnathon. I wasn't even afraid as I met her eyes, despite the inability to shift or use my wolf form against her. There was a smirk on her face. She had the upper hand, for the moment and she knew it. There was a sly smile on her face as she eyed me carefully, her eyes darting towards Blair's headstone. Her eyes gleamed with triumph. Did the children survive King Braedon or did you lose your precious pups too?" she mocked, with no remorse on her face whatsoever. I glared at her with hatred. She had changed her appearance back to her normal self. Her blonde hair cascaded down her shoulders. She wore a simple shirt and pants and she looked relatively at ease. Calm even. Did she think she would win against me? Stop reading the wrong and incomplete storyline, jo bn ib.c om has the correct and complete book. Even in human form, I was a force to be reckoned with, but I had an ace up my sleeve that she didn't know about. She had played into my hand, exactly as I had anticipated she would.
"It's none of your business" I snarled "Are you happy Brynn? You finally got what you wanted. Your sister is dead. By your hands" I added with a glower.
She smirked "I'll be happier when you're gone King Braedon," she said sweetly "and my father as well. Everything that has happened to me, everything bad that I've been forced to go through and endure, is all because of you and my darling sister." "You're a coward," I told her as she stared at me with glinting eyes "to use wolfsbane against me. I guess you couldn't just fight me without weakening me somehow, could you Brynn?" I added as she stared at me, her expression nonchalant "you're not brave enough to face anybody without hurting them first and giving yourself an advantage."
"Well, no offense but you are the Alpha King and I'm not as stupid as you would have me believe," she said unapologetically "It was a touching ceremony by the way. Blair would have been touched to see just how loved she was by the pack. Then again she was always the nice, kind, and naive one" she added with a heavy dose of sarcasm. "Your sister was compassionate and a true Luna Queen. She will be sorely missed by the pack because she made a difference to everyone who met her. That stings, doesn't it Brynn? Because you can't say the same" I said with a glare "In fact, all you've done is make things worse for the people who have had the misfortune to meet you."
There were a lot of people who would not be sorry to see this little b***h dead. In fact a lot of them would be happy to hear the news of her demise.
She shot me a look. "We're not here to discuss me and what you think of my actions" she spat out "I'm not Blair and I will never be as foolish as she was. She was weak" she yelled "Weak and stupid and pathetic."
"She was brave and stronger than anyone I knew" I shot back, my eyes darkening "She would have been a perfect mother to our children. You took that opportunity away from them. You took away the only mother those children would ever know." Her lips twisted "They should thank me. Blair would have turned them into gutless spineless wonders like she was" she said coldly.
A ferocious growl filled the air. It echoed through the trees and caused their branches to shudder and shake. Brynn shifted on instinct as another wolf stepped out from the trees, its magnificent form confident and filled with fury. It stretched, its eyes on Brynn's wolf which was smaller and more average in appearance. Both were Alpha's but this one was more dominant in appearance and angry, so angry that even I couldn't help but shudder at the pure fury on it's face. Brynn appeared confused. I stepped backward. This was a fight that had been long in coming. Years in the making. My eyes watched intently as the other wolf began to lunge towards Brynn's wolf which hesitated and then met it head-on, the other wolf swiping her across the mid-section and causing her to yelp in pain as she staggered backward, shaking her head back and forth in an effort to clear her mind. I grinned viciously to myself.
Brynn attempted to tackle the other wolf. I noted how sloppy her form was and how easily she left her defenses open. The other wolf sent her flying backward into a tree, Brynn's wolf hitting it with a heavy thud before it fell to the ground with a pitiful yelp. I winced. That hadn't looked pretty. I imagined it was quite painful. Brynn's wolf snarled in anger. It was growing furious by how easily it was getting beaten. The other wolf looked cool and composed. It studied one of its paws and then loped towards Brynn's wolf ramming into her shoulder and causing her to howl.
"It's not too late to surrender Brynn" I shouted out loud as the other wolf stepped back, and began to circle her "Lay down and submit. Admit defeat and be punished for your crimes"
For once do the right thing and accept defeat. But it was not in this girl's heart to surrender or admit to any wrongdoing. She clung to her delusions and refused to accept reality, living in her fantasy and in her own little bubble.
She ignored me. I shook my head. She had no hopes of winning. She had to know that and yet she was too stubborn or pigheaded to back down. She was irrational. I doubted she even knew who the other wolf belonged to. The other wolf gave a malicious grin, rushing towards Brynn and jumping, smoothly landing on her back, clawing and swiping viciously with her paws as Brynn's wolf howled, bucking and flailing in an attempt to buck the other wolf off to no avail. It was determined to injure Brynn and it's moves were fast and efficient, designed to cause damage.
