The Rebellious Omega

Chapter 146

Blair POV "Damnit" Braedon hissed "when I get my hands on whoever is responsible for this trafficking..."

"They'll wish they had never been born" I finished for him, leaning up on my tiptoes and kissing him on the cheek "But for now, you need to relax and mingle" I advised him.

He relaxed slightly. I took hold of his hand. I briefly wondered whether James and Sarah were still just outside the marquee or if they had at least managed to make it back to the packhouse, well aware of how strong the mate bond was when you first felt it with another. I couldn't be happier for those two. I had suspected, even though they fought, that they secretly liked each other.

I spotted somebody I least expected out of the corner of my eye and stiffened, just as Braedon brightened. "I see an old friend of mine" he exclaimed "Do you mind if I step away for a minute, there is something I want to ask of him" he added. "Not at all," I told him, "I think I'll just head back to the table and sit down with a drink" I added smoothly.

He rushed off and I gingerly made my way back through the crowd and to the table, sitting down and gesturing to a waiter for some water. I placed it down, only to be joined by the person I least wanted to join me.

"Well, well, if it isn't pathetic little Blair" Brynn sneered.

I blinked at her. "I would hardly say being mates with the Alpha King would constitute as being pathetic, would you?" I asked her slowly, gritting my teeth.Enjoying the book? I let my aura slowly push out and she looked even more startled. Ashton plopped into a chair opposite me, his eyes widening. "You're an alpha wolf" he drawled "How interesting."

Brynn was pissed "No way. How?" she demanded, slamming her hands on the table and drawing several looks in the crowd "You've always been so weak."

I just smiled. "Brynn, is there a reason you wanted to have a chat with me?" I prompted.

Ashton growled "Blair, we just wanted to remind you of your place," he said coldly.

I laughed. Did they really think they could threaten me? The old Blair that was wolfless and helpless maybe, but the new Blair with an Alpha wolf? It was laughable. My wolf was highly amused.

Do they really think that we'll be cowed just because they demand it of us? What idiots wolves are weaker than ours, even though they are Alpha's as well.

Should we tell them what we think of their so-called request Dusk? I asked calmly.

Dusk said disgusted even their

My wolf snorted tell them they can shove their request up their a*s. Nobody threatens me or you and gets away with it. These people are like a blip on the radar and beneath us. We are the Luna Queen and they had better remember that. We no longer put up with bullies.

Ah, you are so right Dusk. Time to let these people know that they are no longer in charge of me or us. This is going to be so satisfying. For both of us.

My eyes darkened "Listen here, one more word out of either of you and I'll be forced to show you the reason I am the Luna Queen. Now get the hell out of my sight you peasants and don't come back here, unless it's a fight you want" I snarled.

Brynn smirked. Big mistake. My hand reached out and grabbed her, while Ashton let out a yell, drawing the crowd's attention. I flung Brynn across the floor and moved to stand over her as she looked up at me, clutching her throat, her eyes wide, her body trembling. I let my full aura out and heard gasps from the crowd. I glared down at her, Braedon coming to my side, his own eyes dark and menacing.

"You dare disrespect my mate" he bellowed.

Brynn shook her head but I snarled at her. "I will kill you where you stand if you so much as move" I snapped.

She gulped. Ashton remained quietly standing, making no move towards his chosen mate. I smiled, my claws sharpening. The crowd was hushed, Braedon glanced at me, as my anger continued to grow. I slashed Brynn's arm, drawing blood as she whimpered. "Get the hell out of my sight. You are not welcome here at the summit. You have one hour to leave this land or your life is forfeit" I hissed "Do you understand me?"

Brynn nodded tearfully. Ashton reached down and helped her up. Brynn gave a sob and turned to me. "This isn't over yet" she sniffled "You'll regret this Blair."

"Leave before I put you in the dungeon" Braedon roared and Brynn began to stumble towards the exit of the marquee, clutching her bleeding arm, looking weak and pathetic, Ashton following behind her, his jaw clenched and his eyes glittering with contempt as he glanced over his shoulder at me.

The crowd resumed its normal chatter. I found myself breathing deeply, my body shaking as Braedon gently put a hand on my shoulder. "I shouldn't have left you" he apologized.

"I'm fine Braedon," I said quietly "You shouldn't have to spend every second next to me."

My claws slowly withdrew and returned back to my normal nails. I examined them critically, before turning to my mate.

"I'm sorry that I let her get to me" I apologized.

He laughed. "Honestly, you showed everyone exactly why you are the Luna Queen so I wouldn't say that it was a bad thing. Everyone knows not to mess with you now and nobody is questioning my choice, so I would say that it's worked out well" he teased and I giggled, leaning into him. "Can we sit down?" I asked and he grinned.

"Course we can."

We headed back to our table, the crowd parting automatically, to give us freedom to make our way. We sat down and I reached down and grabbed my glass which still sat there, feeling tired but in good spirits. At least now Brynn was gone and I wouldn't have to pretend to be nice to her in public, I thought morosely. She was like a viper and I couldn't be happier that she was gone. I saw Sierra weaving her way through the crowd, a delighted grin on her face as she plopped on the chair next to me, her eyes twinkling. "You go girl" she crowed "You put that harpy in her place" she fist pumped the air "You badass" she teased.

I laughed and shook my head, grabbing my water and swallowing it down. "You look gorgeous Sierra," I told her as she preened "Where's Josie?" I asked, trying to peer through the crowd.

Sierra waved a dismissive hand "Around here somewhere. She's never liked big crowds" she added with a shrug.

I opened my mouth to say something and then paled, my mate sensing something was amiss straight away.
