The Palace Beast

Chapter 86 - The Rule

"Why then did you bring me here?!" John cried out. "You want me to be eaten or what? We should turn around now and run!"

"He has seen us, no need to run."

As they approach the entrance gate, the Orc roared drawing out his sword, "You will climb down from your horse!"

It is said that Orcs were 'bred from the heats and slimes of the earth' through the sorcery of Morgoth. But many believe that Morgoth could not create life on his own. This led to the most popular rumor that Orcs were created from corrupted Elves.

The presence of the Orc terrified John as he wanted to climb down the horse, Bonnie instructed him not to make any move. "Why not?" John whispered. He was filled with curiosity and fear.

"Have you forgotten what power you possess? Giving in to fear will make the Orcs intimidate you," she whispered back in a tiny voice that only John could hear.

The Orc was enraged seeing his order was ignored. He took a step towards the horse and then slew the horse, forcing John and Bonnie to fall off the horse.

This action provoked Bonnie as she fangs out. Dragging herself up, she moved towards the Orc faster than the eye could see. She grabbed the Orc and sank her fangs into his neck.

Another Orc who was keeping watch from the watchtower saw this and sounded the horn trumpet as he kept yelling, "She's a vampire!"

"Oh no, more of them will come for us!" John cried out.

The number of Orcs that invaded the Zaxson village was five. Only their look terrified the villagers.

"Then we kill them all!"

Bonnie made her way into the gate as John reluctantly followed him. She remembered the last time she visited the village and humans were in control of the village. This made her think that the Orcs have taken the village from the humans and are now reigning and maltreating the humans as she can see some of the humans chained to a rock and some hanged on a tree.

She was provoked to anger. Her eyes turned red and then she glances at John, "It's time to kill more Orcs!"

John swallowed a lump and spoke with a quivering voice, "We rather run than to fight these creatures."

Before he could turn to flee the scene, one of the Orcs grabbed him from behind and lifted him off the ground. "Humans... Humans!" roared the Orc.

John could barely speak as the Orc held him tightly on his throat and above the ground. He struggles to speak but couldn't say a word. Suddenly his eyes turned blue as orb looking blue light shun out from his body and blasted the Orc to the pillar of the watchtower.

"Sorcery!" the Orc cried out. He was enraged as he picked himself up and unsheathed his sword. He started charging towards John but before he could get hold of him, another blast from John's body blasted him through the gate. The rest of the Orcs saw this and began to flee abandoning the village they once captured.

Bonnie grinned and said to herself, "That's my man."

John's eyes were still blue when Bonnie started approaching him. Immediately he felt a warm touch of Bonnie's hand grabbing him from behind, his eyes returned to normal as he inhales deeply. "What happened?" he asked, feeling lost. "You just saved the villagers by giving them back their village," Bonnie grinned again.

At this time, the villagers started coming out from their houses. Seeing and hearing what John has done, they gathered around him and worshiped him like a god.

John ordered those in chains to be freed and those hung on a tree to be buried. He never wanted to be worshiped as a god but he can't just dismiss them without acting up.

He approached one of the villagers and asked, "What happened here?"

On seeing John, she fell to her knees in prostrates and praises John for saving them from the Orcs.

After she had done this, she brought her head up but still kneeled and opens her mouth to speak in total excitement. "Our village was invaded by the Orcs and they killed our fathers and most of our husbands and made us their slaves. But you saved us."

Orcs can be as strong as the strongest humans; some are shorter than grown men but some are bigger, Orcs only occasionally reach a greater height, and those that do become chieftains and war leaders. They are intelligent beings, able to craft weapons and tools reliably. Orcs have always been stronger because a large number of them are bigger than humans.

The village was invaded without them being able to fight back. They were easily defeated without a fight and the Orcs took their place and started maltreating them. Thanks to John who saved the day without any brutal fight that would have endangered the entire villagers.

"I am pleased I was able to help," said John as he turned to leave.

"You must be a god."

"I'm just a man who is lost and needs to get back home," John said walking away.

As Bonnie saw John walking towards her, she left what she was doing and made her way to meet with John. "We are going to stay here for the night. They want to throw a banquet in your honor."

"They think I am a god. I can't stay," he declined.

"You have no choice but if you can starve for another two days, that's on you?"

"What do you mean by that?"

"You complained about being hungry and now you want to walk away from a banquet thrown in your honor. Reaching another village will take about two days and you are not ready to wait that long before you eat. Or are you?"
