The Million Dollar Man

Chapter 45

Nodding over to where Callum and Sebastian sat; I paused momentarily to notice Mason talking to a pretty brunette. His cheeks were lightly tinted and she was giggling at whatever he had just said. A smile formed at the sight of them together, and I couldn't help but inwardly coo at the sight.

Wait a second.

Inwardly coo?

I shook my head and blinked my eyes rapidly. Clearly, my water must have been laced with something, something strong.

Making my way towards the man, I felt myself relax and settle into the act I knew all too well.

I was a vulnerable, helpless little girl who this man was about to try and take advantage of.

A slight tingle ran across my lips, and I paused for a moment to viciously wipe at my lips. Damn it Sebastian King, what are you doing to me? I shook my head before continuing in my victim's direction. With the sway of my hips and pout of my lips, I had the man's attention. I made eye contact with him, and I gave a small smirk.

He looked surprised that I was acknowledging his attention, but didn't hesitate to motion me over.

Rolling my eyes slightly, I walked up to him.

Why were men like this? Constantly looking to prey on the weak, the vulnerable.

It makes me sick.

<< Can I get you anything to drink? » His soft tone surprised me, but I quickly regained my composer and gave him my signature smirk.

<< Sure, >> I dropped my voice a pitch lower, aiming to take on the seductive approach.

Something about this guy was different, and the flurry of anxious butterflies that blew up within my stomach made me grow alert.

His brow rose at my tone but nevertheless, he still waved over the bartender, his eyes remaining on me the entire time.

<< What would you like, darling? » The last word came out softly, almost hesitantly.

I watched him closely as he lowered his eyes sheepishly, before glancing up at me, waiting for an answer.

<< I-uh, cranberry vodka. » I pinched myself on the thigh, and harsh reminder to get it together before I screwed up my job.

The bartender shot me wink, but I didn't give him a second thought. My focus was dedicated to the man in front of me, who was now awkwardly dwindling him thumbs while clearing his throat every now and then. << What's your name? » I asked, giving a short nod to the bartender as he handed me my drink.

The man smiled, << Patrick, Patrick Riley. >>

I nodded my head, the image of his file flashing through my mind at the same time.

<< I'm Bella Collins, >> I responded, watching as he gently took my hand and pressed his lips upon it.

It came to be a pleasant surprise, when disgust rushed over me instead of those girlish butterflies that had been igniting recently.

Looks like the cold-hearted Evelyn is still there.

I swirled my straw around in my glass, watching as the two drinks mixed together, turning it into a light pink color. Patrick talked casually, finishing his beer off while I continuously grew bored.

<< Do you want to get out of here ? >> I asked, cutting him off. He eyes widened slightly, and his mouth was still open, whatever words left on his tongue slowly distinguishing.

<< Yeah, um, sure. >> He nervously scratched his head, and stood up, placing his empty glass on the counter. I left my untouched drink by his, overwhelmingly eager to get this over with.

I followed him towards the middle of the dance floor, where he suddenly turned around. << Want to get one dance in before we leave ? »

Looking at him hesitantly, I ran my hands through my hair. << I don't know it-<<

<< Oh come on, >> his large hands grasped my hips, pulling me into him. << Just one dance. >>

My eyes grew large when I felt his fingers dug into my sides, most likely bruising my just healed skin. A gasp was caught in my throat when began grinding his hips onto mine, his head dipping into my neck. This wasn't part of the plan.

Sure, at my old gang there would be times that baiting would take a turn to drastic measures, but something about this made me uncomfortable.

I've had my fair share of intimate moments when working on the job, but I can never forget how annoyed Danny would get with me. Going with the flow when it came to my job had never been a problem for me, but the discomfort that shook. through my being every time he touched me made me nauseous.

His lips began placing open-mouthed kisses against my neck, and I felt myself cringe and flinch away.

<< What's the matter? >> Patrick asked suddenly, a hint of annoyance leaking into his tone.

I paused, before going with my gut. « Nothing, nothing at all. » My classic smirk must have served as reassurance, for he continued his actions as though he had never stopped to begin with.

« The songs over, »> I finally said, a wave of relief washing over me. Patrick was leaving butterfly kisses across my face, and pulled away when I spoke.

<< How about-<<

<< Patrick, >> I whined out, pouting my lips and widening my eyes, << I'm not sure how much longer I can wait. >>

My eyes flickered over him suggestively, and I saw him eagerly take the bait. Within seconds, we were heading out the backdoor of the club, entering the dimly lit alleyway that a chilling wind was rushing through.

I was facing the wall across the narrow alley, when a thought crossed my mind. Normally, I would have to make up some excuse as to why we would have to leave through the back exit, instead of the front one. Normally, people weren't aware of the backdoor.

Just as I was about to turn, the front of my body was shoved against the wall, causing a sharp pain to shock through me. I let out a yelp as I felt the stone scrape me, a painful sting engulfing my nearly frozen body. Curse you, London weather, I thought.

Fucking hell, Evie. You're in a dangerous situation and the least you can think about is the weather?

<< Did you actually think that your bullshit was going to work on me? >>
