The Lycan’s King Breeder

Chapter 72

Maximus

POV.

I knew that joining the League of Justice wouldn't be easy, but I didn't realize just how difficult it would be to integrate with them. They looked at me with suspicion, treating me like an outsider despite my attempts to prove myself. Adrian and Kyle were the worst of the lot. They constantly made fun of me, belittling my efforts and pushing me to leave. I couldn't understand why they were so determined to keep me out. One day, I had enough of their constant snickering and insults. "Why do you treat me this way?" I demanded, my voice rising with anger.

Adrian laughed, his eyes cold and unfeeling. "Because you're not one of us," he said. "And you never will be."

Kyle sneered at me. "You may be a king in your kingdom, but here, you have no orders to give to anyone."

I felt like a cornered animal, unsure of what to do next. I tried to defend myself, telling them that I was trying to fit in, that I was doing my best to be a part of the team. But they wouldn't listen. Felicity walked in at that moment, sensing the tense atmosphere in the room. "What's going on?" she asked, looking from me to Adrian and Kyle.

Adrian spoke up, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Oh, just trying to teach our king here how to play nice with others."

Felicity looked at me, her eyes full of concern. "What's going on, Maximus?"

I took a deep breath, trying to put into words the frustration and desperation of the situation. "They don't want me here," I said, my voice shaky with emotion.

Kyle laughed, his eyes flashing with malice. "That's because you don't belong here," he said.

Felicity's eyes narrowed, and I could see the anger building within her. "Enough," she said firmly. "Maximus is a part of this team, and he deserves our respect."

Adrian rolled his eyes. "Respect is earned, not given," he said.

Sometimes I felt like I was Adrian's rival or we were competing for Felicity.

But in that moment, I appreciated the support she was showing me. "Felicity, I appreciate your words, but I think it's clear that I'm not fitting in well here," I said, feeling defeated.

Felicity frowned. "I don't want you to leave, Maximus. You have something to offer this team, and we need you."

I looked at her, feeling a glimmer of hope. "What can I do to make things better?" I asked.

Felicity hesitated, then spoke up. "I think we need to work on communication. We all need to listen to each other and respect each other's opinions."

Adrian scoffed. "That's easier said than done," he muttered.

"But it's worth a try," Felicity insisted. "We're all here for the same reason, to protect our city. We need to work together to do that."

I felt a sense of relief wash over me. Maybe there was a chance for me to fit in with this team after all. And if Felicity was willing to work on things, maybe Adrian and Kyle would be too.

We all stood in silence for a moment, then Felicity spoke up again. "So, let's start fresh. "But for now, we need to work together as a team. Can we do that?"

I smiled, feeling a weight lifted off my shoulders. Maybe, just maybe, we could make this work.

Kyle and Adrian exchanged a look, but nodded reluctantly in agreement. Felicity left the room, and I could feel the weight of their disdain still upon me.

Over the next few days, I tried to work harder than ever to prove myself. But every time I made a mistake or said something wrong, Adrian and Kyle were quick to point it out. They never missed an opportunity to make me feel small and insignificant. One day, I couldn't take it anymore. "Why are you doing this?" I asked them, my voice teeming with anger and frustration.

Adrian smiled, his eyes glinting with a cruel light. "Because we can," he said.

Kyle laughed. "You know what they say, Maximus," he said. "If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen."

I felt like exploding, but I knew that wouldn't solve anything. Instead, I took a deep breath and tried to control my emotions. "I want to be a part of this team," I said, my voice low and steady. "But I can't do that if you don't give me a chance." They exchanged a look, but didn't say anything. I knew that I had to show them what I was capable of, that I had to prove my worth if I ever wanted them to accept me.

Days turned to weeks, and I continued to try my hardest to be the best teammate I could be. There were times when I made mistakes, but instead of making fun of me, Adrian and Kyle started to offer advice and guidance.

I looked at her, feeling a glimmer of hope. "What can I do to make things better?" I asked.

I knew that Felicity had something to do with their change of heart. She had been in the middle of a war, and the constant bickering and infighting within the team had become too much for her.

One day, she called a meeting and said enough was enough. "If we can't live in harmony, then I'll leave," she said, her voice firm and resolute. "I won't tolerate this constant bickering and backbiting anymore."

I knew that she was right. We had to work together as a team if we ever wanted to achieve our goals.

Days turned into weeks, and things were finally starting to look up for me within the League. Adrian and Kyle seemed to have let their guard down around me, and I was finally starting to feel like a part of the team.

But then, one day, everything changed. I overheard Adrian talking to Kyle about Felicity. They were speaking in hushed tones, but I could tell that something was off.

"What's going on?" I asked, walking into the room. Adrian and Kyle looked at me, their expressions guarded.

Adrian sighed. "Look, Maximus, I know that you and Felicity are together," he said. "But the truth is, she's only with you because you're the father of her child. She still loves me."

I laughed, feeling a surge of anger and disbelief. "You're delusional, Adrian," I said. "Felicity loves me, not you. She's my girlfriend."

Adrian's face twisted into a scowl. "That's not what we'll see," he said, his voice menacing.

I rolled my eyes, not willing to engage in this ridiculous argument. "Whatever, man," I said, walking away.

But that wasn't the end of it. One day, I walked into my room and heard noises coming from the other side of the door. I opened it, expecting to see Felicity, but instead, I saw her kissing Adrian. And besides, she was in a towel. My blood boiled, and I felt rage coursing through my veins. Adrian saw me and smirked, raising his middle finger in my direction.

I was beyond angry. How could she do this to me? How could Felicity go along with it? "What the hell is going on here?" I demanded.

Felicity turned around, her eyes widening in shock.
