The Lycan’s King Breeder

Chapter 62

Maximus

POV.

I saw Felicity with her friends and my heart skipped a beat. I couldn't believe she was here. I couldn't wait to reach out to her, to tell her how much I missed her.

"Felicity!" I called out, running towards her. But as I got closer, I could see the confusion in her friends faces. They didn't trust me, and I couldn't blame them after everything that had happened.

But I had to try. "It's Maximus," I said, hoping to ease their suspicion. "I just want to talk to Felicity, please."

I watched as Felicity hesitated for a moment, looking back at me. It broke my heart to see her so guarded, but I understood why. She didn't want to appear vulnerable in front of her friends. And besides I have been a monster with her, when she was in my castle But despite her hesitation, she turned to her friends. "Don't worry, I wanted to talk to him but not now. Let's just go," she said, and I felt a glimmer of hope.

"Proud of you, Feli," her friend said, patting her back.

I kept calling out to her as they walked away, hoping she would hear me. "Felicity, please," I said, but it felt like my voice was getting lost in the wind.

I wasn't ready to give up yet though. I would do anything to make things right between us, to earn her trust again.

But now I couldn't follow her, they were on horseback and I was on foot, no horse and exhausted.

**********

After watching Felicity disappear into the horizon, I knew I couldn't let her go without a fight. But first, I needed to clear my head. I had been walking for hours, and I was exhausted. I needed a drink.

I stumbled upon a small village, and I saw a bar with a sign that read "The Rusty Nail". I entered the bar, the atmosphere inside was loud, rowdy, and filled with men who were drowning their sorrows in alcohol.

I sat down at the bar and ordered a drink. The bartender looked at me cautiously, as if he could sense the darkness within me.

"Hey, you. You look like you've got some problems," a voice said from my side. I turned to see a woman, beautiful and alluring, sitting next to me. Her name was Maria.

I didn't want to talk to anyone, but she was persistent. She kept asking me questions, and before I knew it, I was pouring out my heart to a stranger. I told her everything, the fight with Zarek, my feelings for Felicity, and my desire for revenge. "I just need to forget about her," I said, almost pleading with her.

Maria took my hand and led me out of the bar. We walked to an inn, and as soon as we entered the room, we started kissing. The alcohol had gone to my head, and I was tipsy, but I didn't care. We made love, and it felt good to forget about everything for a little while.

The next morning, I woke up next to her naked, feeling ashamed. I had let my guard down, and I had slept with a woman I barely knew. I got dressed quickly and left, feeling even more lost than before.

As I walked away from the village, my thoughts turned back to Felicity. I knew I had to find her again, but now I had even more doubts in my mind. Could I really make things right between us, after all I had done?

I kept walking, lost in thought, until I saw a figure coming towards me. It was a woman, with a fierce look on her face.

"Stop right there," she said, holding a sword to my throat.

I raised my hands, trying to show I meant no harm. "What do you want?" I asked.

"I want to know who you are and why you're wandering around our village," She said.

"I'm Maximus, the Lycan King," I said, trying to sound confident.

But to my surprise, she laughed. "You? The Lycan King? You must be joking."

I was taken aback, feeling the anger and frustration rising in me. "I am the Lycan King!" I growled.

She just laughed again. "If you are the Lycan King, then I am the Queen of the Night," she retorted.

I was about to lunge at her when I heard a voice behind me. "Put your sword down, Aria. He's not worth it."

I turned to see a man, older and more dignified-looking, walking towards us.

I didn't want to talk to anyone, but she was persistent. She kept asking me questions, and before I knew it, I was pouring out my heart to a stranger. I told her everything, the fight with Zarek, my feelings for Felicity, and my desire for revenge. "Who are you?" I asked, feeling a little less angry now.

"I'm Thomas, the mayor of this village," he said, holding out a hand.

I shook his hand, surprised at the sudden change in tone. "What do you want?" I asked.

"We just want to know why you're here," he said, looking at me with a curious expression.

I hesitated for a moment, unsure if I wanted to reveal my true identity. But then, I realized that I had nothing to lose. "I'm looking for someone," I said, my voice low and uncertain.

"Who?" Aria asked, her eyes narrowing suspiciously.

"A woman," I said, trying to remain vague.

Thomas and Aria exchanged a look, and then Thomas spoke. "I'm afraid we can't help you with your search."

"Why not?" I asked.

"Because we don't want any more trouble," Aria spat.

I was getting frustrated with their lack of cooperation. But then, I remembered Maria, and how I had let my guard down. Maybe it was time to do the same thing with these people. "Look, I'm sorry. I know I can be a little intense sometimes," I said, trying to sound humble.

Thomas and Aria exchanged another look, and then Thomas spoke again. "Maybe we could help you if you showed us some respect. After all, we are the ones who rule this village."

I nodded, feeling a sense of relief. Maybe this was what I needed, to let go of my anger and pride, and just trust someone else for once.

Suddenly, my thoughts turned back to Felicity. Maybe this was what I needed to do with her too. To trust her, to let go of my pride, and just tell her how I really felt.

As I walked away from the village, I felt an overwhelming sense of determination. I wasn't going to let Felicity go without a fight. But this time, I was going to do it differently. I was going to do it with love, not anger. And if it wasn't meant to be, then at least I would know that I tried my best.

I just hoped it wasn't too late.
