The Lycan’s King Breeder

Chapter 61

Felicity

POV

I felt my heart racing as Maximus called out my name.

Ooh my moon goddess, I was very very happy, really relieved to see him alive and free, since he was locked up in a cell in Zarek's castle.

As Maximus ran towards us, Ava and Kyle looked at me with confusion.

"Who is that?" Ava asked, her eyebrows furrowed.

"It's Maximus," I said, my heart racing with conflicting emotions.

I wanted to talk to him, but... I don't want to appear weak in front of Ava and Kyle.

I turned to Ava and Kyle, trying to appear strong and confident. "Don't worry," i said, my voice steady. "I wanted to talk to him, but not now. Let's just go."

Kyle nodded in understanding. "You don't have to talk to him if you don't want to. We can leave."

"Proud of you, Feli," Kyle continue, patting my back.

Ava frowned. "Are you sure you don't want to talk to him?" she asked.

I hesitated for a moment, looking back at Maximus who was still calling out to me. "Yes, let's go. I don't want to talk to him."

We turned and began to make our way towards the border, but I could still hear Maximus calling out to me in the distance.

As we walked, Kyle spoke up. "You did well, Feli. He didn't deserve you anyway."

Ava nodded in agreement. "Yeah, you're better off without him."

I forced a smile, but inside, my heart was aching. I had loved Maximus once, but after everything he had done to me, I knew that we could never be together again.

As we walked towards the border, my thoughts were consumed with thoughts of Maximus. I wanted to know what he had to say, but at the same time, I didn't want to be hurt again.

I was torn between wanting to hear what he had to say and not wanting to give him the satisfaction.

Finally, we reached the border, and Maximus' voice faded into the distance. I breathed a sigh of relief, but I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was about to happen. Once we arrived back at L.O.J HQ, we were exhausted but relieved. Other agents were waiting for us outside, their expressions filled with worry.

As we came closer, they let out a collective sigh of relief. "Thank goodness you're back!" one of them Agent Brown exclaimed.

I collapsed into a chair exhausted.

"It was a nightmare," I said, my voice shaking. "We had to steal horses and it was so hard to get away."

Ava and Kyle nodded in agreement,

Ava, Kyle, and I recounted our journey, telling them about how we had to steal horses to escape and the close calls we had along the way.

At the end of the story, they were all in awe of what we had accomplished. "You guys are heroes," Agent Kim said with a smile.

"I don't know about heroes," Ava replied. "We just did what we had to do to complete the mission."

"But it's not just about completing the mission," Agent Brown chimed in. "It's about doing it with bravery and perseverance, despite the challenges you faced."

Kyle looked up and smiled. "I have to admit, it was exhilarating," he said. "I've never felt so alive."

"That's the spirit," Agent Kim said. "You guys truly embody what it means to be a part of L.O.J."

I couldn't believe what had just happened. We had all worked so hard to complete the mission, and now we were being praised for our bravery and perseverance. I felt proud, but at the same time, I knew that there was still more work to be done.

We all sat in silence for a moment, taking in what had just happened. Despite the exhaustion, there was a sense of pride and accomplishment that filled the room.

As we sat in silence, catching our breath, Agent Brown spoke up. "Well, I think it's time for some much-needed rest. You guys deserve it."

But before we could even think about resting, Kyle and Ava spoke at the same time. "Actually, there's no time for rest. We still have the book to decipher."

I could see the admiration in the other agents' eyes. Ava and Kyle were always so driven and focused on the mission. It was inspiring, but also a little intimidating. In fact without bragging, I could say that I was also like that, it was in the blood kyle and me, and he had transmitted that to Ava.

Agent Kim spoke up. "Well, in that case, I'll make sure to have some caffeine on standby for you three."

The rest of the agents chuckled, knowing that caffeine was essential for us to keep going.

Then, just as we were ready to head out to decipher the book, Agent Derek walked in, looking puzzled. "Uh, guys, I think we have a book to decipher," he said with a smirk. Everyone burst out laughing, including Ava, Kyle, and myself. It was a typical inside joke that we all shared since we were often deciphering different codes and messages. Ava and Kyle nodded in agreement,

Ava, Kyle, and I recounted our journey, telling them about how we had to steal horses to escape and the close calls we had along the way.

I couldn't help but feel grateful for being a part of such a talented and dedicated team. Together, we were always able to tackle any challenge that came our way.

As I walked in, I saw Adrian walking out holding my baby in his arms. "Oh my god, Adrian! Thank you so much!" I exclaimed as I ran up to him and took my baby from his arms. Adrian's face lit up as he replied, "No problem, Feli. It was my pleasure. I may even have a future in babysitting."

I laughed and kissed my baby on the forehead. "Did the little one give you any trouble?"

Adrian shook his head and laughed, "Nope, he was an angel. We had a good time together."

I thanked him once more and walked in with my baby in my arms. Adrian followed behind me, and we both chuckled at some of the stories he was telling me about my little one's antics.

I couldn't help but feel grateful for Adrian's help and his willingness to take care of my baby. It was moments like these that made our team feel more like a family.

Once we were inside, we gathered in the research Lab, trying to decipher the book we had stolen from Zarek's castle.

Hours passed, and we hadn't made any progress. The diagrams and words in the book were indecipherable, and it was frustrating us. Especially me.

Frustrated, I stormed out of the search Lab and ran to my room, tears streaming down my face. Adrian followed me, wrapping his arms around me and holding me close.

"Adrian, I risked Kyle and Ava's lives for nothing, for a damn useless book. They could have died because of me. And now here we are, we can't even decipher these damn diagrams" I cried even harder.

"It's okay," he said. "We'll figure it out. I'm here for you."

I wiped away my tears, looked up at him, grateful for his comfort. I leaned in and kissed his cheek. He hugged me tenderly and affectionately. I was feeling his warmth and strength, and damn, it did me good, I was able to relax.

As we pulled away from each other, the sound of a distant explosion echoed through the halls of HQ. We both froze, staring at each other in fear and uncertainty. What was happening now?
