The Lycan’s King Breeder

Chapter 51

Maximus

POV.

Two days later, I received a letter from Titus, my head enforcer of the council. "Alpha, I know who is holding Felicity, your breeder who ran away disobeying you. Felicity will be delivered in a shipment to Alpha Grimmjaw tomorrow morning, at Moonwood, and you

must be there early," the letter read.

I was skeptical. "How can you be so sure?" I wrote and sent him by my carrier pigeon.

A few hours later, I received his response.

"I have my resources," he replied.

"Alright, I'll go," I told myself, still not fully convinced.

The next morning, I arrived at the location and saw two cargo ships parked. I approached the first cargo and saw several men with a person well-covered head to toe. I assumed it was Felicity.

As I watched the exchange taking place, a sinking feeling began to settle in my gut. Something was off. This wasn't Felicity.

I crept closer, keeping low to the ground as I tried to get a better look. And then, just as I suspected, I saw the tell-tale glint of a hidden weapon in the hands of the supposed Felicity.

I ran to prevent the exchange. I sprang into action, letting out a fierce growl as I charged towards them. "Stop right there!" I bellowed, my eyes fixed on the figure who I thought to be Felicity. Suddenly, a man with a Grimmjaw uniform stepped forward. "What are you doing here?" he asked, recognizing me.

"I'm the Lycan king. Does this answer your question? You who are you?" I replied arrogantly.

"I'm one of Alpha Grimmjaw's men. You're not welcome here," he said, his tone hostile.

"Oooh! And why?" I asked, irritated.

Grimmjaw suddenly appeared in front of me, his eyes burning with hatred. "Maximus," he sneered. "I should have known you would try to spoil my fun."

"What are you up to, Grimmjaw?" I demanded, my senses on high alert.

I raised my sword, my grip tight as I prepared for battle. "What was this?" I demanded, my voice laced with fury. "Why are you trying to fool me with an imposter?"

Grimmjaw laughed, his face twisted into a cruel smile. "Ah, yes. I believe we had a deal, didn't we?" he taunted. "I don't owe you anything, on the contrary. It's you who spoiled my business and you're going to pay me Maximus."

I narrowed my eyes, my heart sinking as I realized what had happened. Had Titus betrayed me? He had sent me on a wild goose chase, all the while knowing that Felicity was never in danger.

"You're lying," I growled, but even as the words left my mouth, I knew they were a lie. The evidence was staring me in the face, and I couldn't ignore it any longer.

We stood facing each other, both of us tense and ready for battle. But this time, I was not alone.

"You'll find out soon enough," he smirked, before turning to his men. "Get him!" he ordered.

I braced myself for the attack, ready to defend myself with all my werewolf strength. But before I could make a move, there was a sudden flash of light, blinding all of us momentarily. When I opened my eyes, all the men were around me, all armed.

Suddenly, all the men attacked me.

As I charged towards Grimmjaw, his men followed suit, their swords raised and ready for battle. I fought with every inch of my strength, my wounds not yet fully healed reopening as I moved through the fray.

I was barely even aware of the pain, my mind consumed with the need to take down Grimmjaw and his minions. They were all going down, one by one, until there was no one left.

As the last man fell, Alpha Grimmjaw transformed into his wolf form and attacked me from behind.

He lunged at me, trying to take me down from behind with a cowardly attack. He was fast, but I was faster. I dodged him and called him a coward.

"What a coward Grimmjaw! I knew you were stupid but not a coward!" I scoffed..

He snarled and snapped at me with rage. "You will pay for this, Maximus," he growled.

I rolled my eyes. "You said that already," I taunted, dodging his attacks with ease. "Maybe come up with some new material?"

He attacked me again. I dodged. He underestimated me. He didn't realize that I was the Lycan King for a reason.

I twisted out of the way, spinning around to face him with a fierce grin. "You're not very good at this, are you?" I taunted.

I could feel his anger rising, his patience waning, poor thing...

Grimmjaw attacked me once again, but I dodged once more. I could feel my wolf form itching to be let loose.

So, I shift into my own wolf form.

"Don't you see this was an unequal fight?" I growled at him once transformed.

"You don't stand a chance against me," I said with inspiration.

Grimmjaw looked intimidated for the first time. "You don't scare me Maximus!" He says as if to convince himself.

"We'll see Grimmjaw. We'll see!" I said with amusement.

We circled each other, growling and snapping as we tried to gain the upper hand.

"Come on, pup, show me what you've got," Grimmjaw taunted, his lips curling back in a snarl.

I lunged forward, my teeth bared as I aimed for his throat. Grimmjaw was quick, though, and he dodged out of the way, snapping his own jaws at me. We continued to clash, each trying to gain the upper hand. "You're fast," Grimmjaw growled as he dodged another one of my attacks. "But not fast enough."

I felt his claws rake across my flank, and I let out a yelp. But I didn't back down, instead lunging forward again. This time, I managed to sink my teeth into his shoulder. Grimmjaw howled in pain, but he didn't give up. Instead, he grabbed onto my own shoulder, trying to wrench me off of him.

We fought fiercely, our wolf forms colliding in a blur of fur and fangs.

We continued to fight, each of us giving as good as we got. But in the end, I managed to land a fatal blow, and Grimmjaw lay lifeless on the forest floor.

I emerged victorious, standing over Grimmjaw's lifeless body. I felt all powerful and invincible.

But as I caught my breath, I began to suspect that Titus had betrayed me and lied to me. "Did you set me up, Titus?" I wondered, my voice was low and dangerous.

If he lied to me, why did he?
