Jack and Charlie had left the tree top village and started to head towards him, they had not spoken since the previous night as Jack was still angry with her so, mush so he was walking a little way behind her, that way he would not have to talk to her, the two of them had been walking for about ten minutes when Charlie just stopped and sat down against a large tree trunk
“what are you doing?” Jack asked
“I need to see” replied Charlie
“need to see what?” asked Jack
“were to go” Charlie replied
“what?” Jack asked confused
“I need to see where to go and what may happen” Charlie replied
“did Ashir not tell you?” Jack asked
“no” Charlie replied
“then we must go back and see her” Jack said and started to turn around
“no, Jack” Charlie said
“she is seer and can help” Jack said “do not believe everything that you told, I can do it” Charlie said
“how?” Jack asked
“because I can Jack it really does not matter how, you need to keep watch, I will not be able to defend myself” Charlie said
“why?” Jack asked
“my mind will not be here, only my body will” Charlie replied
“okay” said Jack
“do you understand Jack?” Charlie asked
“yes, I need to protect you” Jack replied
“yes” Charlie said “please do” she added
“go ahead” said Jack
Jack stood there and watched as Charlie opened her bag, took out some herbs and mixed them with water, she drank the whole thing in one go, he was about to say something when Charlie’s eyes went completely white, he guessed that it had worked, Charlie woke up and stood up, she looked around and saw what looked like the city of Dayton but she hadn’t been there in such a long time, that she started to walk around to see if she recognised anything, she walked around and passed a square, then she noticed what she was there to see, her hide away house.
Why would she need to go there, nobody at all knew it existed, she had never spent any time there, it was not a place that she ever felt the need to go, a hunter would have a hide away house so, that if things got really bad, they could get away from the world, she had never needed hers, Charlie went to walk up to the house to go in and see what was there but she didn’t get the chance to, it all went black, when the lights started to come back she was somewhere that was dark were torches lit the way, Charlie started to walk around and everywhere she looked there was humans in cages all crammed in, this was the future if she failed
As Charlie turned the corner, she saw herself standing there, if they had lostwhy was she There, Charlie stood there and watched herself, she had no sword, she had nothing, she was about to walk away when another woman walked towards her
“it is time” the woman said
“it is” Charlie replied
“you know what you have to do?” asked the woman
“yes” Charlie replied
“do you now understand that you work for us, your job now is to hunt and kill them” the woman said
“yes” Charlie said
“then go” the woman said and Charlie watched that version of herself turn and walk towards her, she was different her eyes were black, why the hell were her eyes black she thought but it didn’t netter this was only a possiblefuture, Charlie continued to walk and following the woman and the she saw him
“will she do it? “ the woman asked
“I believe she will, she knows she has lost” Jack said and Charlie couldn’t believe her eyes, he was one of them, she went to follow him but she was gone again
This time when Charlie opened her eyes, she was now at the edge of some woods and she could see herself and Jack standing in a clearing, Jack seemed to be shouting at her, Charlie moved closer so she could hear what was going on and why he was shouting at her
“you are a lying bitch” Jack shouted
“Jack, please” she heard herself say “I could not tell you” she added
“why? “ Jack shouted
“because I know you hate who I really am” Charlie replied
“let me get this right, after how much I said you are telling me that you are Leanna, which would make sense as to why you have that sword, you have been lying to me this whole time” Jack said “that is why you were saying what you did when I said I hated you, know it makes sense” he added
Charlie decided that she did not want to hear anymore and walked away back to the tree line, she sat there watching as Jack kept shouting and the she saw a glint of silver, she saw herself drop to the floor, a large group of vampires stepped forward, it seemed that they had been captured, Charlie sat there trying to figure out how he had found out
As she sat there she realised that she would have to tell Jack who she was, if she did not then they would be captured and the vision would come true, how do you tell someone that you care about that you having been lying to them since the day you met them and that you are in fact the person they hate more than anyone, Charlie closed her eyes she had had enough of this vision now
This time when she opened her eyes she was in a great hall which she recognised at once, the last time she had been there was the night that her life changed, she hoped that the vision would not be of that night, she had already played that night over in her head so, many times that she did not need to see it again, when she looked around the room what she saw was strange, all around the room were bodies of vampires and humans, what had gone on here she thought, it looked as though a big battle had taken place but she could not tell which side had won, she went to turn around and Jack was standing there, at least this time he was human
“I know you were helping us but there is no place in this world for someone like you” Jack said and pushed the sword through her chest and her heart “I told you I would push this sword for Leanna’s chest and I now know that to be you” he added
Normally in a vision the person in the vision was just a spectator, they normally just stood there and watched but this time was different, she looked down at the sword that had been pushed through her chest, it was her own, she woke from the dream with Jack shaking her
“Charlie wake up” he was saying
“what? “ she asked feeling her chest making sure that it was just a vision
“you were breathing like you were dying” Jack replied
“I am fine” Charlie said
“what did you see? “ Jack asked
“nothing” Charlie replied
“rubbish” Jack snapped
“nothing that you need to worry about” Charlie said
“by the look on your face and the way that you are looking at me, I say that it has something to do with me” Jack said angrily
“it was not” Charlie said “we will stay here tonight” she added
“whatever” Jack shouted
“Jack” Charlie said
“no, it’s fine, I guess I am only here to help you and I don’t need to know anything” he shouted
“Jack” she said again
“it is fine, I’m just baggage,” jack shouted
“Jack” Charlie shouted but he was not listening
“maybe I should have stayed with Chloe and then you wouldn’t have to worry about a human like me” Jack said, Charlie was really angry now, he did not need to know what she had seen, it would not help him just make him worry about everything, he was acting like a spoilt little brat, Charlie had become so angry that she became the vampire, she turned away from Jack so that he could not see
“maybe I should never have met you in the first place” Jack said
“maybe you should have” Charlie replied
“that’s what you think, is it?” Jack asked
That was it Charlie had, had enough of Jack and his sulking, she turned to face him
“maybe you should never have met me, then I would not have to deal with a spoilt little brat throwing his toys out of his pram, why do you think that I left you in the first place, I did not want a human with me” she shouted at him “I will be back at sunrise, if you are still here when I get back, I hope that you have grown up and realised that this is not about me and you” she added walking away she needed to calm down
“Charlie, do whatever you want, I told you that I would fight with you till the end and I will, it would just be nice to know what is going on once in a while but I guess I am only a silly human so I don’t need to know” Jack shouted after her
Charlie could hear that Jack was shouting after her but she was so angry, it didn’t matter, she could tell Jack what she had seen but it would mean telling him who she really was and she was not ready for that yet, there was still so much to do that now was bit the time, last time she had kept a secret from someone, she never got the opportunity to tell him, she was walking through the woods, when yet again she was approached by a group of vampires
“not again” she said
“yes, again” one replied
“why can’t you lot get the message, you are not going to stop me getting to him” Charlie replied
“we will stop you” the vampire said
“don’t make me laugh, you are no match for me” Charlie said laughing at him
“we will see” the vampire said
“come on then” she said drawing her sword and getting ready to fight, they all ran at her at once, it took nearly an hour to deal with them, she kept fighting until only one stood in front of her
“it would seem that you are better than we thought” the vampire said
“as I told you, I am better than anyone” Charlie replied
“not than the king” the vampire said ad started to pace around her
“I would not know, I have no idea who he is and none of you seem to want to tell me” Charlie replied
“you will know soon enough” he replied
“good because I am fed up of you lot, snapping at my heels” Charlie said
“why not hide like you have done for the last few centuries?” the vampire asked
“it would seem that you know me” Charlie said
“we know only what the king has told us” he replied
“can we finish this” Charlie said and the fight continued, it took her ten minutes to push her sword through his heart, she walked back to the log where she had left Jack, she hoped that she would still find him there alive and still waiting for her, she would need his help but would never admit that to him, when Jack woke up Charlie was already there waiting for him and had everything packed and ready to go
“why didn’t you wake me?” Jack asked
“because you looked tired” Charlie said
“thanks” he said grumpily
“i did not mean it like that” Charlie said
“as usual you do not think before you speak, just say whatever,” jack said
“I meant that yes, you look a little bit tired but this is going to get a lot harder the closer we get to him and I do not think we will get much tie to rest” Charlie said
“let us go then” said Jack getting up and walking away from the spot where he had spent the night, he headed towards the city
