The Hunter Becomes the Hunted

The king was pacing in his hall, what the hell was going on, of all the hunting parties that he had sent out only two had returned the rest had not, it had been eight weeks since anybody had seen her and brought him information, something had to be going on, he had to know, he was still pacing when Leigh came in

“what is wrong?” Leigh asked

“where is she, she should have reached me by now” the king replied

“maybe your hunting parties killed her” Leigh replied

“no, she is not dead,” he replied “don’t you think someone would have told me if she was dead” he added

“send more hunting parties” Leigh said

“I have but I must know where she is” the king said “send more” Leigh said

“I might” he replied

“why might?” Leigh asked

“first, I want to try something” he replied

“what y love?” Leigh asked

“there is a magic spell that may tell me where she is” the king replied

“but isn’t magic dangerous?” Leigh asked

“in the wrong hands it can be but I trained to do this” the king replied

“are you sure?” Leigh asked

“yes, I am sure, magic was the one thing that I was good at as a human” the king replied

“you have never done magic as a vampire?” she asked

“no but I did it plenty of times as a human, it will be fine” he replied

“do you need me to do anything?” Leigh asked

“yes, stand watch at the door and make sure that no one enters” the king replied and laid down in the middle of the room, he was always very good at magic when he was human, he had manage to cast a spell that allowed him to talk to her and tell her to come and get him, he had never used magic as a vampire, he had never felt the need to but know he needed to, he needed to know where she was so that he could set a trap for her, he waited until Leigh had left the room and shut the doors behind her.

All he needed was something that belonged to her and he would hopefully be able to see where she was going, he took the ring off of his finger, it was the ring that she had given him the night that he had gotten captured, he held the ring in his hand “arata-me undeva merge” he said and he closed his eyes, he kept them closed for a minute he really didn’t want to open them in case it hadn’t worked but when he finally opened his eyes, he realised that it had actually worked

He had no idea where he was so, he began to walk around, he started walking up a path and it started to look a lot like the city of Dayton not too far from his castle, he kept walking and he seemed to be drawn to one place, it was a blue door with the number one hundred and two on it, he sat in the square outside the house he had no idea where he was, as he sat there everything went all blurry and when it came back, he knew exactly where he was

It was her house well, not the house that they had shared together but her hide away house but he had never even realised that she had one, since the day they had gotten together she had never been apart from him, he knew that nothing ever really go to her so, at the time he had assumed that she never had one, he knew it was her place because of the pictures that were there, they were pictures of the two of them together

He sat there and picked up one of the pictures and stared at it for a moment, the last time he had seen her was the night that she had been bitten, as he sat there looking at an actual picture of her so many emotions came flooding back to him, he remembered what it was like to love her, he remembered what is was like just being with her, he remembered what it was like when their bodies touch, he threw the picture on the floor he would not feel that way again, as he sat there he realised that Leigh had been right, he did still love her but he also hated her as well.

He sat there and closed his eyes, when he opened them, he was back on the floor in his castle, he sat up, put the ring back on his finger, finally he knew where she was going to be, finally he could end this, he knew where he needed to send his men

“Leigh” he shouted

“yes, my love” she said opening the doors

“I need fifteen men now” he replied

“yes, my love, I will go and fetch the best that we have” she said and walked from the hall, the king sat there in his chair and made a plan whilst he was waiting for Leigh to return, finally he would capture her and have her in front of him, he would break her, she would no longer be the brave woman that he had once loved, after about ten minutes Leigh walked back in

“my love, they are here” she said

“right you” he said pointing at the biggest one

“yes, my king” he replied

“I have a job for all of you” the king said

“yes, my king” the man said

“I need you to go to this house in Dayton” he said handing the man a piece of paper

“what do you want us to do when we get there?” the man asked

“I want you to watch the house, a woman will arrive and I want you to follow her until you think that it is safe to trap her” the king said

“why can’t we just capture her at the house?” he asked

“because you will not be able to” the king replied

“why?” the big one asked

“because she is better then you” the king replied

“no one is better than me” the big one said “trust me, she is” the king said “what do we do then?” the man asked

“just watch whilst she is in the house” the king replied

“and after that?” the man asked

“when you think that you can hide well enough so, that she does not see you, I want you to make her tell the man she is with who she is” the king said smiling “the truth my king?” asked the man

“yes, the truth, she has been lying to him” the king replied

“and will that help?” the man asked

“yes, it will turn him against her and make it easy for you to take her” the king replied

“who is she?” the man asked

“everything that you need to know is written on that piece of paper, do not under any circumstance tell her my name, I do not want her to know that it is me until she is standing in front of me” the king said

“yes, my king” the man said “what about her friend?” he asked

“bring him to me, I will decide what to do with him later” the king replied

“yes, my king” the man said bowing and leaving the room

“what is your plan my love?” Leigh asked

“they will force her to tell him who she is” the king replied smiling

“how will that help?” Leigh asked

“because after that night, with all the hatred that I had for her, I misled the humans about what happen, not one of them knows what happened” the king replied

“but why?” Leigh asked

“because I wanted the world to hate her as much as I did, no human was there that night, no one saw what happened so, I told them” the king said

“but she knows” Leigh said “yes, she knows what happened but she has been hiding for over four hundred years, whilst the humans have been led to believe that she left them for us” the king replied

“they believe that she is a traitor?” Leigh asked

“yes” he replied

“how will that help?” she asked

“her friend is human, he will have read the history books and believe what is written in them” the king said

“when you finally get her here, can I have my revenge?” Leigh asked

“no” he replied

“you said that I could” Leigh snapped

“I do not care what I said, she is mine” the king said

“but she killed my sister” Leigh shouted

“and she will suffer at my hands” the king replied

“how?” Leigh asked

“I will break her, I will force her to do things that she will hate” he replied

“will it kill her?” Leigh asked

“no but I will eventually but first she will suffer, you may have to watch things that make you uncomfortable” he replied

“like what?” Leigh asked “I may have to use magic to make her believe that I am what I used to be, I may have to act like that as well” the king replied

“we will see my love” Leigh said “I love you with every part of me and whatever you have to do to break her then you so it, I want her to pay for what she did to my sister and if you say she will then I trust you” Leigh added

“why?” he asked

“why what my love?” Leigha asked

“why do you love and trust me?” the king asked “after all I was a hunter” he added

“you may have been a hunter in the past but that is not who you are now, you are kind and loving and have never treated me wrong” Leigh replied

“the hunter part of me is what makes me different” the king said

“the hunter part of you is what makes you, you” Leigh said “I do not understand then why she is not the same as me” the king said

“why do you need to understand?” Leigha asked

“I was always taught to know your enemies” the king replied

“but you do know her” Leigh said

“I knew who she used to be not what she is now” he replied “I want to know why she fights for the humans, I want to know why she is not like us” the king said

“and you can ask her all these questions when you get her here my love, do not fret yourself about it” Leigh said

“I want to know her” he snapped

“does it matter” said Leigh, every time that she was brought in the conversation he went cold and distanced himself from her

“you do not understand, if I do not know her, how can I predict what she is going to do, I will not underestimate her” the king said

“but you are the king” Leigh said

“it would not matter if I was god, she can still beat me if I don’t know her” he replied, why couldn’t Leigh just leave him alone, she didn’t understand, she still thought that she knew best

“is there anything that I can do?” Leigh asked

“not unless you can help me to know her” he snapped

“fine” said Leigh “I will leave you to sulk” she said “sulk, that is what you do every time you cannot get your own way, you act like a whining little baby” he snapped at her

“how dare you” Leigh shouted and slapped him around the face

“you dare hit me” he shouted and grabbed her around the throat “I will say what I like when I like and you will not say another damn word” he shouted

“ever since you found out that this bitch was alive you have changed, you are not the man I married, you are becoming obsessed with her and her alone, I remember a time when you would not let me out of your sight but since her, I may as well not be here, maybe I should leave you and then you would only have her” Leigh said

“I told you not to say another damn word, I am not obsessed with her, I fear she will destroy everything I have, i fear that she will take you” he said letting her go

“then why do you act like you do?” Leigha asked

“because I will not let her take you from me” he lied to Leigh, he knew that there was no way that he could explain why he acted the way he did, the king knew that it was just something about her that made him the way he was, it was infuriating that after so many years she still had a hold over him, he loved her and hated her and wanted her to suffer like he had

The king sat there and thought about all he had gone through for five years before he had convinced them to turn him, they would beat hm on a daily basis trying to get out of him where she was, as she had killed their leader they wanted revenge, it took him five years to convince them that he had no idea where she was and that if they turned him he could help them find her, one by one he killed all the hunters till at last there was none left, he was them crowned their king as he had rid the world of the only people that could kill them
