The Hunter Becomes the Hunted

They had just returned to the house from what was the happiest moment in their lives, they had just gotten married and they sat there and started to talk about the Dean and how he always had his men turn up, when they least expected it or when there was something the two of them had to do, he always seemed to know where they were.

“how did he know where we were?” Charlie asked

“it is him he always knows” Leanna replied

“but how?” Charlie asked

“it is just one of those things, he knows as much about us as we do him, we know him Charlie, it is how he works” Leanna replied

“Leanna he will not stop” Charlie said

“I know that baby but we will get him” Leanna replied

“we have to go to him we have to end this” Charlie said

“no Charlie we cannot go to him yet, we are not strong enough to face him, with training we will be, we can face him together, together we have a chance, “Leanna replied

“we are strong enough “Charlie shouted

“do not raise your voice at me, we are not strong enough and unless we work together as a team we will never be and I will not face him alone” Leanna said “cannot we forget this and celebrate us” she added

“whatever” Charlie snapped and walked from the house slamming the door behind him.

Leanna had learnt that there was no point in going after him, he would soon calm down and realise that of course, she was right as she normally was, he had always been hot headed as a child and that had not changed the older, he had got, he always believed that he was right until he sat down and thought about things, that was a habit of Charlies he would always shoot his mouth off without giving his brain time to think but she knew that when she fell in love with him and she knew that was never going to change but she also knew him well enough to know that when he had calmed down he would be back asking for forgiveness.

That thought brought a smile to her face but she didn’t think on it no more, just sat down and began to read her new book about magic, tonight was meant to be the night that they would celebrate their marriage but it seemed she would spend it alone, they had always had one night a week for just them, where they would do whatever they wanted and not worry about the damn vampires.

After an hour Leanna decided that she had, had enough and was getting tired, it was time to rest, there was no point waiting on him, he would be back so, Leanna headed to bed, when Leanne awoke the next morning, she stretched out her arm expecting to feel him asleep next to her but nothing his side of the bed was cold and not slept in, he had not returned, Leanna got up and got dressed, she made calls to all of their friends but not one of them knew where he was, it seemed that he had vanished in the night with no sign what so ever, Leanna spent the day pacing around the house and waiting for him to return, he was going to get a piece of her mind for making her worry this much.

As the sun began to set there was still no sign of Charlie, all of a sudden there was a loud bang at the door, she made her way to the door and pulled it open ready to shout, as she swung the door open, he was not there, she looked up and down the street and nothing, as she was closing the door a piece of paper caught her eyes, she picked it up and began to read

My dearest enemy

It seems that you may have lost something and I have found it, it walked straight into my house, your lover seems to think that he is better than anyone, including yourself, he believed that he could walk into my house and end my miserable life (his words not mine), I have him now and if you ever want to see him again, you will come to me , you know where to find me.

I want you to come alone, if you bring anyone else with you then he dies, any sign of any others entering after you and he dies, you get the point come alone.

Leanna threw the note on the floor, he could not have been that stupid, after all they had, spoke about, had he really still gone there to face him alone, Leanna went to pick the note up and read it again when there was more banging at the door, Leanna got up and walked down the hall to open it

“you’ve got some bloody explaining to do” she shouted pulling the door open expecting Charlie to be standing there

“what did I do” the man at the door smiled

“Peter, I’m sorry I wasn’t expecting you” Leanna said

“I guess he is still not here” Peter said

“no, please come in, if my father knew you were here, you are not supposed to talk to us” Leanna said shutting the door

“screw your father you two are my oldest friends and you need help” Peter replied

“well thank you” Leanna said

“tell me what happened?” Peter asked

“we had a disagreement about the Dean and he walked out last night and has not come back” Leanna replied

“let me guess Charlie being Charlie wanted to attack” Peter said

“yes, and I did not” Leanna said

“always the cautious one and wants everything to be right” Peter said smiling at her

“you know me so well” she said smiling back

“you have no idea where he may have gone?” Peter asked

“none” Leanna replied

“do you know where the Dean is?” Peter asked

“no, not a clue” Leanna replied

“you must have some idea” Peter said

“nothing, normally he is back by the next morning” Leanna replied

“what’s that?” Peter asked pointing at the piece of paper

“I forgot about that” she replied and picked it up “read it” she added handing it to him

“what the hell” said Peter after reading it

“it’s rubbish, he can’t have him, it is just a trap” Leanna said

“are you sure?” Peter asked

“yes, Charlie maybe hot headed but he is not stupid enough to go after him” Leanne replied

“tell me everything that happened yesterday, there may be a clue as to where he is” Peter said

“well, we got up and trained, we didn’t leave the house until the sun began to set, Charlie had just given me some presents and we decided that we wanted to go for a walk, we had been out about 30 minutes when one of the Dean’s men showed up with a few friends” Leanna replied

“did they say anything?” Peter asked

“yes, just that the Dean sends his love” Leanna replied

“why would that be his message?” Peter asked

“because that is how the Dean is” Leanna replied

“okay continue” Peter said

“there’s nothing more to say, we destroyed the vampires, came back here and that is when we had the disagreement” Leanna said

“nothing out of the ordinary then?” Peter asked

“nope” said Leanna

“what does he mean by the last line?” Peter asked

“oh that, well Charlie and I got married last night” Leanna replied

“wow congratulations” Peter said

“thank you” said Leanna

“but how did he know?” Peter asked

“what?” Leanna asked

“if he does not have Charlie, how does he know that the two of you got married” Peter asked

“he has many spies including human ones that visit the church we got married in” Leanna replied

“we need to go to Paul” Peter said

“no” Leanna said standing up

“we must” Peter said

“we cannot not my father disowned me when I told him about the two of us, that man has nothing that I want” Leanna replied

“he has many resources that we need if we are to find the Dean and if he does have Charlie” Peter said

“my answer is no” Leanna said

“i know you two have had your difference’s but he needs to see this” Peter said holding up the note “after all Charlie is still a hunter” Peter added

“i said no Peter” Leanna snapped taking the letter back

“fine if that is what you wish but what are we going to do then?” Peter asked “nothing it is not real, he doesn’t have him” Leanna replied

“what can I do?” Peter asked

“I don’t know maybe you can look around and find out what is going on” Leanna said

“that I can do” Peter said

“thank you, Peter” Leanna said

“my friend you are most welcome, I will find out what I can and be back here tomorrow night, do not fret we will find him alive” Peter said

“he won’t be for very long, unless he has a bloody good reason for making me worry so much” Leanna said

And with that Peter left the house laughing at her last comment, she knew that Peter would not go to her father because they were and always had been close friends, Peter had been born into a hunter’s family and spent most of his childhood at their house, he was a few years older than her but she could still trust with anything and if there was anything to find out then he would find it.

Leanna would not believe that he could have been so stupid and go after the Dean alone, he was still out there somewhere, still angry, he had to be, then Leanna had a thought maybe he had gone to his getaway house and that’s why nobody could find him, if only she knew where it was, you see they were secret from all others, maybe Charlie had the address written down somewhere in the house, she would have to search.

Leanna started in their bedroom chucking out all of the draws and cupboards, Leanna looked everywhere, under the bed, on top of the wardrobe and nothing, maybe it was somewhere else in the house, she had soon searched every room but one the library, it had to be in there somewhere, she entered the library and started to open every page to make sure he had not hidden anything in between the pages, she didn’t find anything, Leanna threw the book down on the desk, where the bloody hell was he, she thought.

Slowly she began to pick the books back up off the desk, when she saw it, a map of Xanax with Xanax castle circled in red pen, what the hell was going on, why had she never seen this map before, she picked it up to have a closer look but spotted the blueprints underneath, she picked up the blueprint and looked at them closely but couldn’t see anything, she was just about to put them down, when some small red letters caught her eye at the bottom of the page it said the Dean’s hideout.

Leanna could not believe her eyes had Charlie really found the Dean, had he really gone after him, Leanna decided that she would wait for news from Peter as there was nothing, more she could do that night, she would go and rest for tomorrow she may have to go and fight, the next morning Leanna lay on bed as long as possible to let her body fully rest, all day she sat in her house waiting for Peter.

All day she sat there waiting for news on what had happened, she hoped that it was not true, she really did not want to believe that Charlie would have gone alone to face him, it was driving her mad just sitting there and waiting for someone to come and give her the answers she wanted, Leanna hated not being in control of the situations she felt hopeless that there was nothing she could do but sit there and wait, she did go into the gym and train for a while to try and take her mind off of the current situation but it didn’t work every time she hit the practise dummy it just made her think about it more.
