Chapter 308
Chapter 308
Tanya never expected Madison to disagree. She stood at the door of Haven House, feeling momentarily stunned. As she recalled Harvey's expression when he saw her out just now, her mood became heavy.
"Mom, what are we going to do now?" Rebecca clung to Tanya's arm. "Maddie isn't planning to forgive them, but I've already agreed!"
Tanya pulled her gaze away and reassuringly patted Rebecca's arm. "It's okay. I'll have your brothers and dad think of a solution."
Rebecca nodded, looking distressed. "I really thought Maddie would agree. I didn't expect..."
"She..." Tanya, who had been feeling down, suddenly shifted her mood upon seeing Rebecca's distress. She angrily said, "She's supposed to be a cultivator, but she's so petty."
Rebecca sighed. "I thought that since Maddie is a cultivator, she'd want to do more good. That's why I agreed on her behalf. I really didn't expect..."
Rebecca and Tanya got into the car. Meanwhile, Yara, who had overheard the entire conversation outside, muttered a few curses at their departing vehicle. "Why not just become a saint if you want to do good deeds? Even saints aren't as self-righteous as you!" She scoffed. After venting her frustrations, Yara returned to Haven House.
As she stepped inside, Yara noticed a tense atmosphere between Harvey and Madison. She floated over to Wanda and asked, "What's going on? Why are these two fighting?"
Wanda covered her mouth with her hand and whispered, "Ms. Locke doesn't want Mr. Locke to investigate those people, but Mr. Locke is insisting on it." Yara raised an eyebrow. Harvey was asking for trouble.
In the living room, Harvey frowned, looking at Madison in confusion. "Why won't you let me investigate? There's clearly someone behind this. If we don't get to the bottom of it now, who knows what they'll do next?"
"I know who it is," Madison replied.
"Knowing who it is isn't enough; you need to provide evidence. Maddie, some people won't believe you without proof," Harvey insisted.
Madison shook her head.
However, Harvey was adamant. "As your brother, I have to take action. You've been wronged and bullied. I can't just stand by and let this happen to you." He reached out, placing his warm hand on her head and gently ruffling her hair. "I'm your brother, so trust me." His touch felt light, but to Madison, it felt like a thousand pounds pressing down on her. She slowly lifted her gaze, trying to focus on Harvey through her blurred
vision.
His voice cracked slightly as he wiped away the tears from her eyes. "I won't let anyone bully you."
"It'll be dangerous," she said.
Harvey chuckled lightly. "What about you, then? Isn't it more appropriate for me to take the risks?" Madison remained silent.

His gaze was unwavering, and his tone was firm. Madison realized that even if she tried to stop Harvey now, he would only agree verbally. He would still go behind her back to investigate. "Alright."
After convincing Madison, Harvey's expression relaxed. "Just stay home and rest. I'll take care of Megan's fans and the Robertsons."
"Thanks, Harvey," Madison said.
"There's no need to thank me," he replied. After sharing a few more words with her, he left Haven House.
As soon as Harvey left, Yara couldn't contain herself any longer. She started pacing rapidly around the room. "This is bad. If Harvey goes ahead with the investigation, who knows what kind of disaster could strike him, especially with Rebecca being favored by the heavens?" Wanda gasped. "Is it really that serious?"
Yara rolled her eyes. "What do you think? He could walk out and get hit by a car or have a flowerpot fall on him out of nowhere. If fate wants to take someone out, it's not hard at all. What are we going to do, Madison?"
Madison raised a hand to touch her head. She could still feel the weight and warmth of Harvey's hand resting on her.
At the end of the day, he was her brother. Harvey was willing to face any danger to protect her. He couldn't bear to see her suffer any injustice.
